I have a car that arrived Sallum line on Saturday. And my agent said we have to begin the clearing process asap.
Now, my issue is based on my past experience, it is not advisable to send him money unless the car already
arrived and ready for processing.

Here is my question, with all this lockdown in Lagos, and the President pronouncement of Port operation continues yesterday,
Does it mean cars can be cleared as normal at this time? I am trying to prevent a situation whereby he will get the money n wont be able to
proceed for clearing because of the Corona issues. I am 95% certain he will spend the money n begin to run around for it when the time comes to do the job.

Please can you confirm clearing is going on as normal?

The VAT increase caused a lot of invoices to go up as well. I believe it is in order since he is delivering to ibadan . The VAT has affected duty , charges on shipping and terminal charges.

Before now on this thread I advised importers /clearing agents to factor in the 7.5% VAT in there quote to prospecting importers.

My agent has been charging me 420k for 2002-2004 Camry inclusive of delivery in Ibadan.

Just this morning he throws the figures to 450k saying some VAT has been increased and all that. As it is now the car is almost landing at the selling price to now add 30k is a big issue to me.

Please advice. He is lying or saying the truth?
