The trending Enghlish exam question that was set for Level 4 students at Benue State University, piqued my attention about an encounter in a private school I once taught, I was made to interview an English Teacher for Junior class, I was shocked beyond imagination when she said 'she doesn't know the meaning of registers in English'.

I wouldn't mention the name of the University she graduated from, to avoid backlash. But the truth is, our education system is at it lowest ebb.


For learning purposes: registers are words or jargons used in particular discipline or profession. We can have registers in Law, Journalism, Transportation, Aviation, Health, Sport etc.

I started watching the world cup during USA 1994 with Brazil winning that year. Followed by France 1998, (France hosted and won Zidane was the star Man), then comes Korea/Japan 2002 (Brazil won), Germany 2006, won by Italy (Zidane vs Mattarazi formed the villains of that tourney won by Italy ).

Then comes the turn of South Africa to host in 2010 ( The Shabalala goal plus the commentary by Peter Drury made my day ) won by Spain, that final can go for a Wrestling fight, the 'famous' Howard Webb was at the centre of it all just like Netherlands vs Argentina Quarter Final Match officiated by Lahoz the Spanish ref in Qatar.


2014 came very fast in Brazil, the host nation were eventually knocked down 7-1 by eventual winners Germany, (Messi's heart was broken Lol ). Then comes the controversial hosting Russia 2018, won by France!

Today marks the end of the Qatar Fifa World Cup, with different upsets down the history book!

TVC/The Nation owned by foremost APC presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Arise TV/ ThisDay by Chief Obaigbena, the latter has been accused of 'anti-Tinubu' rhetorics while Arise TV believes that Tinubu should honour its Town hall meeting invite as he his gunning for the highest office and needs to be scrutinized by the Fourth Estate of the Realm (media), the APC's President media Campaign team led by seasoned journalist in Dele Alake believes Tinubu is a target of 'blackmail'.
