The truth is 99% of students that rag don't even know the reason for "rag day"
The essence of rag day has been defeated, probably because of poverty, selfishness, greediness or whatsoever. Money generated from "Rag Day" is basically for the poor and the less privileged in the society. It is not for soating, indomie, fashion, beer, babes etc.

Yes I appreciate ur idea if not the essence of it has been defeated that is why people now see it as something bad..... back then u find this in school academy calendar and we all look forward to it... cos it was fun and. not even all about the money self... it's what we all look forward back then but now I think schools now have loads of program on there agenda...

u can hardly see Rag day in any federal universities, when I was in Polytechnic I see it as nuisance, d kind insult and embarrassment meted on dem at times is pitiable, Rag day my foot. it's meant for broke nigga or nuisance students. Ragday for OAU when u no dey mad.

The question is when did u graduate? Rag day is common back then not now.... all the universities see it as break for student back then.... so don't see it as anything embarrassing.... when I was in ife, OAU ragged very well and in fact people appreciate it well back then student and their host community and the school made stickers available for student to buy and wrap them round their can and there u can recognise which school u are from. Rag day is recognised by school back then and lecturers observe that day which it's almost 3 days break and no lectures takes place then... it's long gone now, my brother OAU do am well well......... don't argue what u don't know bros...

But now all the universities now dissociate themselves from it which I am in support cos student now use it as an avenue to do all sort of rubbish if not then it was descent and u get free ride to any part of the state u are going only when the drivers sight the school stickers and logo on ur can and u get money... meaningful parent use it to contribute to the wellbeing of the student..

Sorry unizik doing it now isn't bad and not be seen as something trash....

I can't speak for private universities then cos they are not too common but for federal, state and polytechnics... they all observe it and it's lecture free day..

I am now quietly unfollowing. From what Olamide has said, I now perfectly understand. I burn transport for three days+ other expenses, my chances will still be dependant on some other factors. Goodluck to all gatecrashers cheesy

U for take the risk na..... u never can tell my brother.... though ur fate as gatecrasher will still depends on the presence of the old timers.....

But just try this time and funny enough if u succeed by next year u wont face the stress of gatecrashing cos u will now have a parcel number which nobody can snatch away from u as long as u keep coming every year.....

And as a gatecrasher go along with two passport there about cos u will feel an application form as an examiner..... just watch that very well around and that will help more in the near future.....

Goodluck bro

Are we to pay any fee for the gatecrashers I have 30mins to leave here to my collation centre.

Nothing like paying any fee as gatecrasher..... the only fee u are to pay is ur professional touch and experience in the area of marking and the subject we are talking about. Goodluck

Mr dean olamide... pls is it compulsory I go with my original waec certificate... I only have the photocopy with me

Yes.... without that am sorry u won't be clear by the Waec coordinator... they want to see originals alongside photocopy.... just to be sure they are dealing with professional and not one road side person..... go with ur originals

MissIndependent:
True Bro in my centre last year, a guy called that he just had an accident the first question WAEC asked was where is our script they didn't even give a damn about the guy... grin grin angry

My sister..... even when my team leader died last year during marking.... they only came the following morning to retrieve their script and not even sorry from them... it was not a surprise to me cos my first year of even supervising Waec in 2010... a supervisor had a serious accident in Onitsha and was rushed to fmc in Asaba, Waec still came to collect their script Infact with well armed police officers in the hospital.....

So those thinking coming to mark or gatecrash is something as easy as they think should think twice before they venture into it....... cos if anything happen to their script.... Na wahala for u oooooooooo....

do they pay for training?

Yes..... hey cool down.... u will see the breakdown in ur centre when u get there.... and don't expect millions cos is included in ur final pay it's about a thousand, five hundred and at the end of the marking at least u should go home with something about 10k or less and it depends on ur subject though....

[quote author=Sunnypar post=34919758]DeanOlamide, nice one. Am going from the office but with photocopiesl forgot the original at home, how much is it per script averagely and can I go with my original tomorrow?
Thanks.[/quo

For today go and put down ur name and attend the programme and make sure when attendance is taken, u answer the morning and afternoon atyendance....

Compulsory original for vetting and to be attended to if not u got no chance.... no wayo for here my brother... go with ur originals which they will collect from u and after Waec confirm it, then u will be approve for parcel if available and ur certificate will be return back to u..... it's ur original or nothing...
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Waec Coordination For May/june S.s.c.e. Begins On 19 June, 2015 by DeanOlamide(m): 9:25am On Jun 19, 2015
Listen everyone cos I can see people giving information anyhow.....

As an experience marker for 7years and still counting this is what you should expect..

One: as a gatecrasher. Don't be discourage and sametime u should be. U can only get parcel to mark if and only if old timers are been cleared cos those that have been marking like me have my own parcel Number and which nobody, I mean nobody can claim except me.... it's when am not present until after the last day of coordination and have been contacted then and then will they give my parcel out to any gatecrasher.... I mean until all old markers has been cleared and given their parcel then and then the gatecrasher will be consider for anything..... remember they still do their political stuff in it... give to who I know first before u wey them no know go see... and the following will be consider if u as a gatecrasher will get parcel to mark.

Attendance is compulsory cos during the three days coordination attendance will be taken and this is what will be used as yardstick to consider u further.

Ur certificate should be intact, not photocopy I mean original to be seen and approve by the center Waec cordinator..

Secondly : about the pay, it varies by subject as Waec pay some subject higher than others.. English remain the highest pay, literature maths, physic and chemistry follows like that... u don't expect to mark biology, crs and others and be paid equally.. Waec won't chest u... and also u don't have degree in home economics and u want to mark English, sorry u will not be given any parcel, ur fate is in home economics

Thirdly : compulsory coordination for three days and u must be present and attendance will be taken.. old timers are safer here and gatecrasher are taken seriously, I mean seriously. Ur chances as gatecrasher depends on the old timers not present or some people drops that is when u should have hope. Am not scaring u out but it's the plain truth.. Waec don't need novice to handle their script.

Damaged, missing, mutilated scripts then u find urself in the police net without negotiations.... even on ur sick bed, Waec will come and collect their script, even in ur grave they won't spare ur corpse for their script, they will wake u up and collect their scripts then u can rest in peace.. bitter truth.

Let me wish u all Goodluck. Coordination starts today at various centres across the nation then u can visit one..

I am in Asaba, delta state that is where I have been marking English language. If u are in Asaba, come to AGGS. See you.
