From the list of CVs I received recently I discovered a lot of loop-holes. Majority of the applicants do not have the right idea in drafting CV. Some of the loop-holes I noticed are:
1. Placing your discipline at the 2nd page of your CV is totally wrong. One of the most interesting part of your CV to the recruiter is your discipline.
2. Past experience without functions or post held. When you place your experience there should be a brief line that talks about your duties. This helps the recruiter to know exactly what and what you can do.
3. Avoid experience that has nothing to do with the post you are applying for.
4. Don't always use one particular CV for different posts that aren't related. Have at least three different edited CVs for different sectors.
5. Subject of you application. Many applicants applied for a post without using the post as the subject of the application. Unless there is a unique code, reference number, the subject of your mail MUST be the post you are applying for even when you aren't told. Imagine a recruiter having close 120 CVs with almost 16 different positions will he/she have the time to open your CV in order to link your discipline with the available post!
6. A brief application letter, though not compulsory, is usually helpful. Most especially when you are applying for a post that is a little deviated from your discipline. In the application letter only focus on the qualities(which can't be included in detail in your CV) that you know make you fit for the post and probably place you over any other applicant.
