Jokes Etc5 Signs That Lagos Is Not For You by Debonubia(op): 9:38pm On Sep 14, 2020
The city of Lay Lay, of Lagos is regarded as the place where you have to wise up else you can be robbed of your arm in broad day light and you wouldn’t notice it until you get home.

However, despite the razzness that Lagos is known for, it is still considered the land of limitless possibilities where anybody can become somebody without the help of everybody.

Lagos is not for the faint-hearted and the daily activities that take place in this wonder city affirm it.

Things like a tricycle rider threatening to crush a trailer if the driver doesn’t leave the road for him; people dancing on the road with a towel strapped to their body in the name of comedy skits; two Police Officers fighting on the express and civilians separating them; a blind beggar telling you that the N100 you gave him is too small and many more gbas gbos.

While some Lagosians are used to the madness, others like me are still struggling to catch on. If you are the same category with me, here are five signs that Lagos is not for you:

You can’t run and jump on a moving bus:

Running is survival skill that every Lagosian MUST have or how do you intend to escape from sudden danger on the busy roads or even catch a bus when you are in a rush to get somewhere and there are a few buses around if you cannot run? I tried it once and I almost broke my spine.

So, if you cannot jump on a moving bus like me, Lasgidi is not your destination city.

If You can’t fight an errant conductor

In this Lagos, quarreling with a bus conductor is inevitable. It must happen somehow and the cause of most passenger-conductor argument is change.

So, what do you do when a conductor tries to intimidate you on top your money? Change it for them of course! Tell him that ogun will kee his papa! Tear your shirt and beat your chest like king kong! You can also break bottle for added effect! Shout at him! You can always treat any injuries you sustain at the chemist shop closest to your house.

Jokes EtcThree Tips To Avoid Getting Frustrated On A Monday Morning by Debonubia(op): 9:26pm On Sep 14, 2020
Monday is unarguably the most dreaded day of the week in Lagos. The only day that comes close to it is Friday evening. But since it’s the start of a new week, I’m here in all of my benevolence to give you three tips to avoid getting frustrated on a Monday morning in Lagos.

1. Wake up early!
My dear, no matter how close to your house your workplace is, so long you will be boarding public transport, please and please, WAKE UP EARLY.

Because ehn… There is a special spirit that roams the roads of Lagos causing traffic for no just reason.

Seriously, how many times have you gotten to a spot and wonder why no one can explain the reason for the long-ass holdup you just experienced?

You see my point?

2. Do not wear anything white

Rain has started falling again and that can only translate to two things in Lagos;
– More traffic
– Muddy roads

In case you haven’t gotten the memo, 90% of Lagos drivers are reckless and most especially so on Monday mornings. They will spray brown water on you without every looking back to say sorry. Don’t even get me started with the bike men.

3. Hold your change
The worst thing that can happen to you on a Monday morning is getting tied to other passengers by your conductor because there’s no change.

No, just imagine that as you approach your bus stop you shout, “Next bus stop wa o, Conductor”, to which the conductor will most likely shout, “I don hear” in response.

Next you say, “Conductor, you never give me my change”. See, I can bet my ex’s September salary that he will ignore you the first time, pretending like he didn’t hear what you just said.

Jokes EtcHow To Politely Tell Your Nigerian Parents You’ll Be Acting In A Porn Movie by Debonubia(op): 8:16am On Aug 31, 2020
A popular Hollywood porn movie producer stumbles on your Instagram page with his verified account. After going through your eye-catching beautiful pictures, he sends you a DM, telling you how he admires your beautiful pictures and all.

You are not really familiar with his name so you quickly go on Google to search for his name. Hundreds of web pages about him appear right in front of you. Pages of him in a private jet and yacht with some of the top celebrities in the world.

You quickly go back to your Instagram to reply to his messages, forming excited to be chatting with the world-famous Mr. Producer.

You guys start talking about Mama Africa and the growing entertainment industry. He tells you about his plan for African youths, how he wants to empower them by casting some beautiful African Queens and Kings in one of his porn movies.

His mission is to shoot the biggest porn movie ever on the continent. He tells you that he is looking for interested young Nigerians who will feature in the movie. He is going to pay each of the actors $350,000, and all expenses paid trips to Miami, Mauritius, and the Fiji Islands at the end of the movie production.

You quickly convert the money in Naira and you realize that it is the exact amount of money you need to destroy the bondage of poverty that has been holding your family to ransom for years.

But Mr. Producer is not asking you if you will be interested, he only wants you to help tell your African friends if they will be interested.

You are already considering featuring in the big project, after all, you have always wanted to be an Actor. But your church mind pricks you that it’s a porn movie, and it will be shameful of you, a worker in the church, to be seen in a porn movie.

But something clears your guilt: after acting the porn and you get your money, you will leave the country and cut all communication with everyone that is going to judge you. Then in your new country, you will rededicate your life to the service of God and humanity

You quickly chat Mr. Producer up and inform him of your interest. He is super excited and even goes further to give another mind-blowing offer. If you agree to be the main character in the movie, you will be paid $500,000 extra, making it $850,000 for you.

But there is a big condition that must be settled before you get the deal finally, your parent must give their consent via a live video session with the Producer. The problem now is to convince your parent to give their content.

If you ever find your self in such a situation, below are what you should do:

Let them realize it’s just acting

You need to explain to them that since they must have seen their favorite Actor killed in a movie, and the same Actor appears again in another movie, it shows that the Actor didn’t die for real, it was just acting. Tell them same logic applies for porn movies, everything is just acting, you are not really going to be having sex for real

Tell them acting in a porn movie is better than being a corrupt politician

The worst thing any human being can do is to steal the money belonging to everybody, it’s the lowest of the lows. Since your Nigerian parents have also been plighted by politicians stealing their pension money, they will agree that it’s way better to act in a multi-million Naira porn deal than to be a thieving politician

Tell them the money is big

If they are still proving stubborn, shock them with the amount of money you will be making. Tell them how you are going to build them a big house, how you will set up a shop for your Mum, how you will get a chieftaincy title for your Dad since your family is going to be very rich, and above all, how poverty will be a thing of the past in your family.

With these tips, your Nigerian parents will prayerfully give their consent. If you think otherwise, share your thought in the comment box below

Jokes EtcHow To Get Under The Skin Of A Nigerian Politician And Make Him Throw Tantrums by Debonubia(op): 9:05pm On Aug 30, 2020
If there is one particular skill every Nigerian should learn how to do perfectly, it should be getting under our politicians’ skins.

They have done us terrible and unimaginable things. Since we keep handing them to God and He keeps looking away, it wouldn’t be a bad idea if we start making life extremely difficult for them; not by being violent; like Nelson Mandela, we should not resort to violence. But we need to find a way to give them hypertension. And Luckily for all Nigerians, we have found one:

Ask them who is bankrolling them
With the recent event, it’s obvious that the question, “who is bankrolling you?” gives an average Nigerian politician serious irritation. Probably because the word is a combination of bank and roll. Nigerian banks really know how to make life unbearable for someone, but beyond that, Nigerian politicians don’t laugh at such a question.

They always want to appear as a Messiah who is using his personal money for the good of others, when we all know that they are the ones stealing from others.

When a Nigerian politician has done way less than half of what he was elected to do, he gives himself all the accolades through the human mechanism he employs.

A Nigerian politician will spend billions of Naira to procure a set of wheelbarrows and cutlasses as a constituent project. He will then put a ribbon on them and organise a big commissioning ceremony.

He will invite all the top artists in the country to perform at the ceremony.

He will invite his fellow politicians like him, and they too will come with all their entourage.

He will invite all the biggest media houses to cover the commissioning of his multi-billion naira project. He will buy center spread pages in the dailies to put his stupidity for the world to see.

If you try to ask him to justify the money he spent on this mega project, then you are about to get under his skin. He will call you all sorts of degrading names. He will tell you,

“Do you know who I am? I have been in politics before you were born. I fought for the democracy this country now enjoys.

“Where were you when I was protesting against the Military regime many years ago? Where were you when I was leading protest, facing bullets and bombs thrown at us by the Military? I was persecuted and jailed by the previous administration…”

In short, Nigerian politicians hate it when you ask them to account for anything. They hate being challenged. They want to be treated like a God that no one can question.

And for that short time, you have triggered their short fuse. In a minute, they will start to display their lunacy, they will throw tantrums like a toddler whose toy was yanked from him.

So when next you meet a Nigerian politician, please, try and get under his skin by asking, “Who is bankrolling you?”

Business5 Reasons Why Small Businesses Fail In Nigeria by Debonubia(op): 11:35am On Jul 25, 2019
No entrepreneur sets out to fail despite the risky nature of startups in Nigeria. Every business owner establishes their enterprise with lofty visions at heart and hopes for the future. Then why do small businesses fail in Nigeria?

In a country like Nigeria, where unexpected events can hit you below the belt and render one helpless, you should be more prepared and vigilant. It is commonly said that once a business exceeds the first five years of its establishment, it has survived the perilous stage and it is bound to succeed in the long run but some business hardly scale through this phase and it is saddening.

There are a lot of reasons that can be attributed to the failure of small businesses but here are 5 common ones that we can relate with:

Insufficient funds:
One of the major reason why Small Businesses Fail In Nigeria is lack of funding. The lack of money can have a devastating effect on both the business and the entrepreneur.

Without enough funds to run the business, there will be accumulated debts, limitations and financial hardship which can cripple the growth of the business leading to an inevitable downfall.

You can address this challenge by seeking alternative funding like low-interest loans, personal savings (if any), financial support from family and friends, and applying for entrepreneurship grants. Read our article on how you can raise money to start a business.

SportsAFCON 2019: How Your Business Can Gain From The Tournament by Debonubia(op): 9:33pm On Jul 03, 2019
The 32nd edition of the Total 2019 African Cup of Nations, afcon 2019 has kicked off in Egypt. The attention of millions of people in Africa and the world at large is drawn to the biennial football festival for a whole month – June 21, 2019, to July 19, 2019

Already, participating countries have started locking horns against one another. The small teams are upsetting the bigger teams, pulling surprises.

Most African players see their value rise astronomically during the fiesta, hence most football clubs try to buy new players or tie existing players to new contracts before the new European season begins. However, not only are the players growing their brand during the AFCON, several companies are leveraging on the competition’s huge viewership and interest to grow and sustain their brands.

Typically, during any major football tournament, businesses that are smart enough, leverage the tournament to promote their products or services and they always have increased sales. Major brands spend millions of Dollars on promotions during these tournaments. But small business owners like you can jump on the football fever to promote your brand without spending a dime. Here, you will learn how to do that.

Use Social Media More:
During the tournament, social media is guaranteed to buzz with trends and discussions that centered around matches played, especially Twitter. As a business owner, you can follow the major matches and post content that relates to the trending discussion.

If you are posting on Twitter, make sure you use trending hashtags in your post, this will make it visible to people who are not following you. When your post has garnered some retweets, you can do another post on the tweet to tell people about what you do. This technique has proven to be an effective way of growth-hacking on Twitter.

Do Predict and Win Game
If you are looking for an effective way of gaining more followers during this AFCON 2019 season, then do predict and win give away games.

Few hours to the start of a match, you can ask your followers to predict the result with the eventual winner winning something. It can be as little as 500 recharge card. In the post, ask your followers to retweet or tag their friends in the comment section of the post. This technique works like magic. Through this, more people will get to know about your business, follow you and you can subsequently convert them to customers.

Investment5 Ways To Raise Capital For Your Business In Nigeria. by Debonubia(op): 9:23pm On Jul 03, 2019
If you are planning to start a business but you are worried about getting cash to implement your business plan, this article highlights ways you can raise capital for your business.

Without mincing word, capital is key to enterprising. It’s one of the biggest things you need to have, to have your hands in so many businesses, even though it is not just everything you need to do well as a business person – others being entrepreneurial attributes like risk-taking ability, good decision-making traits, and of course the personal strengths that align with every business.

There is a motivational thought often used in public spaces, that money is not the first thing to start a business but knowledge and interest. Yes, it is true but still very debatable. Money sometimes defines many things, and he who has capital has one of the greatest tools for business success, hence the general saying in Yoruba that (Olówó ló lòwò) – meaning, “He who has money owns the business world”.

To buttress the above proverb, Let me quickly tell you a real life story I experienced in Lagos. Few years ago, a man who needs money to process his traveling overseas, went to meet a car seller to buy at a cheap price. The car seller with rich car selling skills placed the car in his auto sales shop for days without seeing buyer. The owner needs money badly. He is getting impatient, time isn’t on his side, so he approached a rich guy on his street. “I’m selling my Toyota Camry car that I bought last year at 500k, because I need the money badly. Can you buy it pls?’. The rich guy saw the opportunity. He paid immediately and own possession, Of course he knows the car very well.

The second day, the autoseller said he saw a buyer at 600k and he adds his own 50k. The seller told him someone else already bought it and will come pick it up in days.. The seller contacted the new buyer and they agreed on new selling terms. 600k was transferred to the rich guy without seeing the car he bought. A second buyer paid 650k and took away the ride. The auto seller took his service charge of 50k while the original car owner left the country in days.

The lesson I learnt therein is that with money, you can make more Money and grow quickly in business and without money, a business gets starved of development and growth in time.

Now that we have all seen the essence of capital, how then can we easily get it sourced out? Well, here are five possible ways.

1. Family supports:
Unarguably, from my studies as a business management student back then, sourcing fund from your families is the easiest way to kickstart your business. Families are big supportive pillar upon which we can rely on sometimes, and are one that can rally round you, especially when your success is key to them. From your parents to grown and successful siblings, to relations, you can seek for support if you are sincere with your intentions.

You all must have heard of how the richest black man, Aliko Dangote sourced his first business capital from – a sum of #500,000 equivalent of $3000 then, which became a fruitful seed. At the age of 21, Aliko Dangote borrowed $3,000 from his uncle to import and sell agricultural commodities in Nigeria, his native country. His business venture quickly became a success, and as a result, he managed to repay the entire loan within three months of starting operations.

The business story of Chief Rasaq Okoya, the successful Lagos business magnate is no difference. He saw an opportunity to import some products to Nigeria from Japan for resell, and it will cost him $70. With 20 dollars with him, he decided to seek a loan from his mother to make up for his capital. And the rest of the business story is history.

You know why family support should not be shoved away? Because they know you more than outsiders and will realize an investment in you is like ploughing into their own life as well, which might pay-off someday.

Walk up to your parents, uncles and families, tell them your plan and convince them that they can borrow you to pay back, but be sincere with your promise. And I can assure you assistance will come somehow.

2. Friends:
If you have a very rich network of friends, it is also a good way to raise capital for your business. Some are already well to do, and if they can support just an ordinary person that comes around, then being a friend will be a good advantage.

First – that you are seeking a business support means you are seeking a financial independent and you don’t have to keep coming every time for them to help you with your life’s financial demands.

Business5 Things To Do When You’re Having Low Sales by Debonubia(op): 11:36am On Jun 18, 2019
One of the aims of every business owner or sales person is to make sales and generate profits for the company. However, there are times when things may not go as expected and you are not getting the desired results. Low sales can be very discouraging and this can affect your business in so many ways. This can be due to a lot of reasons such as aggressive competition, ineffective marketing strategy, economic situations, pricing policy and so on. There is an urgent need to identify the problems and proffer solutions accordingly.

So, when your sales are on the low, use these tips to effect a change and stay afloat:

Create a survey
you need to pause and critically examine the situation at hand. Research about the cause of the problem. This is the first step to finding a solution. Speak to your existing customers, ask questions and focus on their needs. Know the reason for the decline in the purchase of your products or services.

Build relationships with your clients and earn their trust. Appeal to your buyer’s emotions and convince them to purchase your services without mounting unnecessary pressure on them. Examine your delivery system (if applicable), customer service and pricing strategy to check for loopholes. Do not rely on your limited knowledge to salvage the situation. Use the data or feedback collected to implement better plans to increase your sales.

Develop new sales strategy
if you keep trying a method and it’s not working out, it may be an indicator that you should be flexible in your sales tactics and diversify by employing other means to make things work out.

Seek new ways to address the situation and improve your sales. Maybe there is something you are not doing right or your business has outgrown the sales method you are implementing. Either way, try something new.

Set new goals that are time-bound and take conscious steps to make it work. Track your progress by keeping a success journal and celebrate your small wins. This will encourage you to do better and keep the sales numbers up.

Health5 Ways To Keep Your Nails Healthy And Beautiful by Debonubia(op): 9:16am On Mar 21, 2018
Can you count how many times per day you use your hands? Or how many times you use your hands to interact with other people? It’s almost impossible to count. The hands are very important and this is why you must care for your hands, especially your fingernails. Although we fix artificial nails sometimes, it is also important to care for the natural nails. See tips to keep your natural nails healthy and beautiful

When doing chores wear rubber gloves– Detergents, bleach and other chemicals used in cleaning/washing are not friendly to the nails. They destroy the nails slowly from within and make them very weak.

Regular cutting– clip your nails regularly actually make them stronger, the longer the nails the more it is prone to breakage, and when it breaks on its own it could break in awkward angles. Keep your nails at a regular length comfortable for doing everyday work. Also, long nails help to house germs.

Moisturise– we wash our hands often, the soaps are chemicals are drying and make the nails weak. When moisturising your hands, rub some onto your nails and cuticles. Coconut oil is great for your nails and fingers.

Products– Most products have chemicals that are toxic for your nails, these chemicals include dibutyl phthalate, dimethyl and diethyl phthalates, camphor, and formaldehyde. Make sure to check the labels when buying nail polish, or removers. Avoid oil-based nail products, go instead for water-based ones.

Cuticle care– Most saloons, when giving manicures and pedicures, they tend to remove the cuticle. The cuticle is to protect your nails against bacteria. Instead of removing them, apply cuticle gel and use your cuticle stick to gently push them down.

Fixing artificial and colouring may be beautiful but this isn’t something you should depend on. You’ll be amazed at how beautiful your nails can be when you clip, file and keep them clean. Your nails will look gorgeous without all the chemicals and pain that comes with artificial nail fixing.

CareerLeading Companies Select The Most Sought After Candidates At The Top Talent Job by Debonubia(op): 11:44am On Nov 29, 2017
Companies that will win today and tomorrow will do so by having the right people to drive business results. This was affirmed by Akin Afolabi, Head of Selection & Recruitment at Workforce Group at the Top Talent job fair held at the Zone Centre, Gbagada last Saturday. Top Talent is a stellar initiative from Workforce group designed to connect top employers with a pre-screened, highly filtered pool of employment-ready top candidates.

Over 15 leading companies were present at the event with branded stalls and leading HR representatives as they engaged candidates extensively. Top employers such as Nestle, Larfarge, GTBank, Sterling Bank, Nestoil, UACN, Cadbury, Troyka Holdings and more were well represented at the event.

Employers were delighted to have experienced what they described as a job fair with a difference, speaking to the press most employers had positive comments about the level of interaction they had with the candidates and the quality of the candidates on display. Most attributed this quality to the unique assessment process deployed by Workforce group in choosing qualified candidates for the job fair.

A mini-documentary video was presented to employers , showing the rigorous selection process for assessing the competencies of tested candidates for success in the workplace. A 6-week long process spanning across multiple assessment tests ok key competencies such as Intelligence, Character & Purpose, Confidence & Effectiveness, Teamwork & Problem Solving, Leadership & Communication and their Drive for Results.
For the candidates, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet leading employers at such a level, and are very positive with the feedback and commitment they received from the employers they encountered.

Speaking to guests at the event, Akin Afolabi explained the significance of the project to clients and the business landscape of the country.
“We understand from our experience handling various clients recruitment and selection needs that there is a gap between the roles available within various organisations and the availability of the talents to fill those roles suitably.
“The Top Talent League of Extraordinary Graduate Trainees is our unique solution built to close that gap by helping top employers attract and hire the top 5% of candidates for their graduate trainees job roles. Nigeria’s tech ecosystem is still evolving. To help it evolve to a fully grown ecosystem like the Silicon Valley, tech startup owners and tech communities organize tech events frequently where they network and share ideas on how they can grow their tech enterprises. These events happen at specific places based on the suitability of these places to tech programs.

In this article, we look at five major venues in Lagos where tech events happen.

Co-Creation Hub, Yaba

The reason for Co-Creation Hub claiming the number one spot on this list is not farfetched. This hub has hosted top tech events and personalities in the world such as the Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg in 2016.

CcHub is Nigeria’s first open living lab and pre-incubation space designed to be a multi-functional, multi-purpose space where work to catalyze creative social tech ventures take place. The HUB is a place for technologists, social entrepreneurs, government, tech companies, impact investors and hackers in and around Lagos to co-create new solutions to the many social problems in Nigeria.

Aside from the tech meetups and conferences the hub organises for the tech startups within its ecosystem, external organizers leverage CcHUB’s pioneering status in Nigeria’s tech space by hosting tech cohorts at the hub. Silicon Yaba, TedX Lagos are some of the tech events that happen at CcHub

Andela’s EPIC Tower, Ikorodu Road

On January 16, 2017, Andela’s corporate office moved its headquarters from Yaba to a new 5-floor building along Ikorodu Road, dubbed the EPIC Tower. Before then, Andela was operating from CCHub facility. The move generated a lot of debate about Yaba being Nigeria’s Silicon Valley because of the cluster of tech startups located in the region.

EPIC Tower is named after Andela’s core values — Excellence, Passion, Integrity, and Collaboration. The building has various conference halls of different capacity, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.

Ever since moving to the new location early this year, the new edifice has hosted various tech events ranging from Hackathons, Tech Bootcamps and Tech Meetups for Developers.

Techpoint Complex, Yaba

Techpoint is a media outfit located at No 194 Herbert Macaulay Way, Adekunle, Yaba. The company’s blog, www.techpoint.ng is one of the most visited tech blogs in Nigeria.

CelebritiesKing Sunny Ade: The Vintage Fender Guitar That Is Worth N52 Million by Debonubia(op): 3:31pm On Dec 15, 2016
A performing musician needs an instrumental accompaniment. A performing Juju musician needs more than one instrument. By virtue of the nature of Juju music, it requires the drums, the piano, the shekere, the gong and most importantly, the guitar. Little wonder almost all the prominent juju musicians such as King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Fatai Rolling Dollar have adept fingers to the flexibility of guitar strings.

According to Wikipedia, Juju is a style of music derived from traditional Yoruba percussion. The name comes from a Yoruba word “juju” or “jiju” meaning “throwing” or “something being thrown.”

Juju evolved in the 1920s in urban clubs across the countries, and was believed to have been created by Abdul Rafiu Babatunde King, popularly known as Tunde King. The first jùjú recordings were by Tunde King and Ojoge Daniel from the same era of the 1920s when Tunde King pioneered it. The lead and predominant instrument of Jùjú then was the Iya Ilu (Talking Drum)

But things took a modern turn in the 60s as musical instruments such as guitars, pianos and other electronic instruments were introduced to it. King Sunny Ade is credited for making guitar a prominent instrument in Juju music, and he played it with so much dexterity that he became known as the golden finger.

CrimeErrm Em M… And Everyone Stutters by Debonubia(op): 1:11pm On Dec 15, 2016
Everywhere you turn, you feel it, you hear it and you see it. No letter has ever been this objectified that one is able to touch and hold it. Letter M became not just an alphabet or a sign; it became an entity, an object like a stone or a tree that you could actually touch. And when it came in triple, it became more than just an ordinary object, it became an institution millions of souls adored and worshiped. It became a voice that gave command and many would run to answer. It became an authority in the field of man’s daily life.

And suddenly, like a flash of lightening, it has become a mystery that sends panic and fear into one’s spine, a nightmare that sends sleep to the oblivion; it has become the stubborn single strand of hair that thwarts the growth of other hairs on a bald head. When letter M came in triple, it became MMM; once a symbol of hope and prosperity, now an emblem of fear and despair.

What is MMM?

According to its website, MMM is a community of people providing each other financial help on the principle of gratuitousness, reciprocity and benevolence.

In MMM you don’t have to make contracts or pledge your property. In MMM there are no lenders and no debtors. Everything is simple: one participant asks for help — another one helps.

The only thing that MMM demands from its participants is to be honest and kind to each other. You ask for financial help when you need it, you give financial help when you are able to do it.

In simpler terms, MMM redistributes money by collecting money from new participants to give old participants.

For over a year, Nigerians have embraced the scheme with open arms. Why? It seems like a kind of Money Making Machine. You put your money into it and in some days, you get your money back with 30%. Wow! It sounds really good to the ear.

Nairaland General6 Types Of Neighbors We All Have To Live With In Our Neighborhoods by Debonubia(op): 3:21pm On Oct 10, 2016
By Hannah Bosede Alagbe
Except you live in a plush area where you are surrounded by acres of land, artificial lake, a mini gulf course, a playground and a garden like those of the American old monies, then there is no way you will not have neighbors to interact with if you are an average Nigerian.

Most Nigerians live in congested neighborhoods. Using Lagos as an example, the population of people in areas like Agege, Oshodi, Mushin, Bariga, Iyana-Opaja, Ojota, Palm-Groove, Ogba and others is much higher than those living in plush areas like Ikoyi, Lekki and Victoria Island, etc; these are places assumed to be for the rich and super rich.

We will be concentrating on the places inhabited by the middle class, areas where most people live. Because of the congested nature of these places, there are always the needs to have neighbors to interact with.

We give you the different types of neighbors you will likely interact with if you are living in this area.

The Lazy and Dirty Neighbors:

We all have that neighbor that will not clean his or her corridor for days or dispose his or her waste bin, causing them to be littered everywhere in the compound. If you are unfortunate to be sharing same bathroom and toilet with them, they always will not take part in cleaning them. They soak their clothes for days and this causes irritating odor. These ones are not only dirty, they are also lazy. They see everything as huge task.

The Noisy Neighbors:

These ones are the most inconsiderate. They will put the volume of their TV or Radio to the highest to the discomfort of other.

There are some that may not have all these gadgets but they are noisy still, they are always shouting at the top of their voice. Even when they are having a conversation on the phone, everybody in the neighborhood gets to know what they are talking about. They cannot do anything without shouting, it is like their default.

The Proud Neighbors:
The proud neighbors are like peacock. They carry themselves about with high shoulder, but most times they don’t have anything. They always brag about their past glory or inheritance that used to belong to their fore-fathers.

They see everyone as nothing and they are ever ready to tell you “Do you know who I am?” if you disagree with them on any issue.

The Snobbish Neighbor
These types of neighbors do not greet and if you try to greet them, they answer either sparingly or not at all. They always keep to themselves and do not interact with others. They always feel they are more sophisticated than the people around them thus, they see everyone as below their class.

The Borrow-Borrow Neighbors
OMG! These ones can borrow anything, just anything- salt, pepper, pot, money, seasoning, plate, iron, even clothes. They practically rely on others for survival. They borrow from one room to another, always giving excuses for not always having. They will rather not buy those things they always borrowed with their money but will wait till you get them.

The Flirty Neighbors
Either man or woman, married or single, flirty neighbors toss from one room to another. There are four types:

a) Flirty Neighbor Married Man: His eyes are always on other women in the street. He wants to get down with every one of them, single or married. He throws advances and he makes moves. His wife is always the serious church-going one. So unfortunate!

b) Flirty Neighbor Bachelor: His room or apartment is the melting point for different kind of ladies, lepa or orobo. Different day for different babe. He is a certified playboy. He has some babes within the neighborhood he calls on always whenever he feels like… You know!

c) Flirty Neighbor Spinster: She has been sampled by almost every flirty men, married or not. It’s like her “something” is always itching her that she just needs to scratch it. She is the neighborhood’s LovePeddler, Ashawo in local parlance.

d) Flirty Neighbor Married Woman: She does not care what people say, but she does it shamelessly. She hooks up with big men or politicians in the neighborhood. Her husbands is always silenced because she runs the rules financially in the house
