Olodo full nairaland ooo. See empty heads everywhere....chai!

How can someone be arguing about something he/she knows nothing about.

Left for this fish brains on Nairaland, FG for don dismantle ASUU same way it did and turn public universities to shit just like they did with primary and secondary.

Olodo them, how many of your children dey attend public primary and secondary schools now. You keep supporting failure....and you are wandering why you are failing in life. Shame!
All the ones that ASUU has done in the past, are the public universities improving or deteriorating?

ASUU and FG, none is better than the other.

IPPIS still having problems after 13 years of operation in Nigeria and you think it's the best for the system?
Are you saying other people that have been getting paid via it for the past 13 years have been collecting 8k too.
Why is it that it's only when it's time for ASUU to enrol that people started getting 8k alerts?

Please say and argue what you know. These allegations are lies from the pit of hell. Do you know what it takes to attract and win research grant?
In Nigerian universities
Connection
Gender
Tribe
Etc

I'm saying what i know. I attended two Federal universites in two different regions.

These are spurious allegations. There's a saying that in every 12 there's a Judas. If there are a few persons in a profession that do what is wrong it is not a justification for blackmailing everyone in that profession. That is most unreasonable.
Lol, do you know the requirements for qualifying for research grants now?

The male lecturers use it to carry runs girls, drink beer. While the female lecturers use it to buy clothes and jewelleries.
Then they go online later to make download existing works.

These people are lazy and corrupt, and most of them don't even deserve this 8k.
They travel and come to class anytime they want.

No work, no pay.

Even if any lecturer enroll on IPPIS now while ASUU is still on strike, he or she won't receive one kobo.

You know nothing really..most of the professors in the medical circle still go to work .And they have not been paid for months because of this same issue.
They won't get paid till they go back to the classroom, sorry.

ChiefS:
Let me respond to each of your allegations:
1. Do you have enough evidence? This is a spurious allegation that holds no water. The system has checks and balances. The human resources of each University has records of birth certificates /age declaration which must be submitted before a person is appointed a lecturer. Retirement date of each lecturer is also indicated in the annual appraisal forms which must match with the employment records.
2. Vacant academic positions are collated from departments and advertised by universities yearly. Sometimes those vacancies are not filled because the applicants may not meet the specific requirements. Minimum requirements for lecturing is a PhD or its equivalent. In the interim, fellowship is acceptable for medical specialties. Plus specific work experience and publications.
3. I'm not aware of lecturers working as full-time staff in multiple Federal Universities. A lecturer should have only one full-time appointment and can be a visiting lecturer based on need. No lecturer can work in unilag and UI or OAU as full time it is just not possible. Its cheap blackmail of the government. They should provide evidence and make scape goats of anyone culpable. A visiting lecturer is only paid about 30% of what a full-time lecturer gets.
Why are you stressing yourself so much defending a group of people that collect research grants and use it to marry?

You just sit in your little corner and conclude it's a lie. Why not ask those in the system to verify first.
Most of them take huge loans to marry third wife, buy Cars or renovate their in-laws house. It's only natural that when salaries are paid, the necessary deductions would be made and what's left it's what's left.

Resume when you are ready to enroll or stay at home till 2023, you can then dictate to the administration then to pay you via Western union in eight pounds sterling or Danish Krona.

IslamRe: Insulting The Prophet: Freedom Of Expression Is Freedom FROM Insult, NOT To! by Decimus(f): 10:22am On Oct 30, 2020
Lukgaf:
Freedom of expression is freedom FROM insult, NOT freedom TO insult!

Each faith community feels a deep-rooted emotional attachment to the symbols and personalities it reveres. Muslims are no different.

The value system of Islam is underpinned by respect and reverence – reverence for the Almighty, for all the Messengers of the Almighty – including the Prophets Abraham, Noah, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them all), the angels, the holy scriptures, the holy cities, religious symbols and places of worship, and respect for elders, teachers, leaders, religious scholars, parents, the elderly etc.

Depicting images of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is strictly forbidden in Islam. The rationale for the prohibition, inter alia, of depicting the Prophet (peace be upon him) is that he was too sublime to be truly portrayed. Furthermore, attempts at portraying him could result in his image being distorted. There are therefore no records of any authentic image or portrait of him anywhere in the world, from any period of Islamic history, which is a significant point of note.

Any attempt to depict the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in illustration is an attempt to depict the sacrosanct, which is not allowed. The nature of cartoons is to satirise and trivialise. This is clearly not acceptable in the case of a personality who is held in the highest esteem by almost 2 billion people globally.

Irrespective of what the motive is for the repeated publishing and displaying of these blasphemous cartoons – whether for cheap publicity, political gains, deliberate provocation, or due to sheer ignorance – it is grossly offensive and highly insensitive and will always be rejected by all people of morality with the contempt it deserves!

Muslims accept the principle of constructive freedom of expression, but not the freedom to wantonly insult, which is sometimes deviously and deceptively masqueraded as freedom of expression. True freedom of expression is freedom FROM insult, not freedom TO insult! Freedom to insult has ultimately resulted in hatred, bigotry and even destruction. Humour that is disrespectful, insensitive and offensive, is not humour, but is in fact hubris.

But when Muslims object, the stock response is that they do not appreciate freedom of expression. The media and others view this as an infringement of the right of freedom of speech. However, one aspect that is often overlooked is that no right is absolute; there are inherent limitations. Every right is counterbalanced against other rights. Every right has to be exercised with utmost responsibility.
The blatant hypocrisy of certain leaders in the application of freedom of speech is glaringly visible for the world to see! Whilst they harp on the promotion of freedom of speech, they are intolerant of any criticism of themselves or things that are dear to them. So much for freedom of speech!

Muslim leaders and masses would be justifiably outraged and enraged by this act of profanity. This could even precipitate protests and boycotts. The worldwide anger and outpouring of objections has made it amply clear that Muslims will never accept disrespect to the Prophet (peace be upon him) or whatever else is deemed sacred to them. Despite this open provocation, Muslims are urged to follow the noble example of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon Him) in the kind, tolerant and forgiving manner he dealt with his enemies and continued to invite them to the Path of Guidance.

zikter:
Please I totally disagree with you that the cause of the strike is payment platform. Google the timeline of the current strike and you will see. Like the Prof said, the five points were the cause of the strike as govt did not honour the 2013 agreements. The IPPIS issue came up like two months after ASUU began their strike, making it a sixth point.
The solution is simple, government should honor its agreements with ASUU and stop grandstanding. Why are they insincere? You negotiate something on a roundtable, agree, but all of a sudden trash it.
Lol, so after the pandemic. FG should just forked out the money, because of the agreements that were made in 2009, 2013....
This is the wrong time to ask for such money, and ASUU is aware of that.

Let me tell you for a fact that if the FG should accept to pay ASUU via the old platform or UTAS where many ASUU members will be able to keep their multiple jobs in two or more Federal institutions. Then they will call off the strike.

So I that ASUU fault or the government who is supposed to be doing the right thing. Instead of holding the government responsible, we prefer doing shot cut. This is the reason why we may never prosper as a nation, while the government gets everything wrong, the priorities of the citizens who are supposed to be holding the government responsible are even worse
Ok, please weigh in on the matter. What do you think is the solution to this current strike.

Please note that the cause of this strike is payment platform only. ASUU just started mentioning revitalization funds and education budget later to add something to the mix.

Lol, of the countless incessant strikes that has been embarked by ASUU in the last few decades.
The main benefits has been students staying longer than necessary in school and further deterioration of pubic schools.

mayor1814:
Lecturing or teaching profession is one of the professions suffering most in this country. for example, how much is the salary of a professor compared to people in oil and gas, banking etc. A senator one month salary can pay the salaries of all professors in a school.

you talking of multiple salaries. it has always been part of the university system worldwide that lecturers are entitled to sabbatical leaves twice. so during the one year period, they are entitled to two salaries. it's not limited to just Nigeria.

another instance, how do you create new dept? do any school just create new dept just like that without any expert coming to help the new dept grow or develop to standard?

we really need to understand the plights of lecturers , we cannot just be blaming them without knowing the full story.
payment platform is the bone of contention here.
ASUU should register on the IPPIS, and any lapses noticed there should be rectified.

Alex80s:
People condemning ASU should ask FG why they don't want UTAS, according ASU is free. FG wants to compel them into using IPPIS they will spend money on.

Also ask FG why they keep on failing to fulfil the agreement reached after every strike.

Ask FG that brought change mantra why Education budget is still low.
Who requested UTAS from ASUU?
So every organizations/MDAs being paid by the FG should all go and develop their own medium of payments too.
It's too late now, FG won't go back on the IPPIS.

Please take note that ASUU didn't embark on strike because of low education budget, they brought this along the line with the talk of revitalization funds to make it seem the strike is not a selfish one.
The IPPIS is very unfavorable to many ASUU members, especially those holding multiple jobs in Federal institutions and getting multiple salaries.

I just hope the FG has stopped the Salaries of all the members of the union 100%, and even those who have enrolled in IPPIS but are staying at home.
