Additionally, he should get a court affidavit and a police extract attesting to the engraved reg number, belonging to one of the previous owners of the car.

Truth is, police will always stop him. But with the affidavit and police extract, he's good to go.

What is the purpose of the payslip request? Is it to 'price down' the applicant or to ascertain that the applicant was employed in the role disclosed?

I know a case where an applicant provided the requested payslips but sensitive information (salary redacted) redacted as this would have been in breach of the Non Disclosure Agreement signed with the former company. The candidate was successful with the application.

I think sharing bank statements is too much information to give.

First, I would like to know if this job was with a "Financial Institution".

Second, many recruiters are friends with recruiters in the applicant's current workplace and may already have an idea about the persons work ethics and even salary. If the person lied during the test/interview and shared a fictitious payslip, that's when the bank statement is requested.

What a dilemma

Like I posted earlier, if you use a forged payslip, pray it doesn't bite you later on.

You truly didn't have to lie, you can negotiate the new level based on what you can bring to the table irrespective of your current salary level.

During my initial interview I gave a figure that was above my current pay, now they insist on me providing the payslip before proceeding to the next stage of the employment process.

The thing is I have monthly bonuses not captured on the payslip and I fear not providing evidence would make me disqualified for the role.

Who has navigated such process before as I don't know what to do.

Is it even legal to ask for payslips?

Will they actually contact my current employer to verify the payslip?

Note: it's a financial institution. I heard they are fond of doing this during their recruitment.

The bonuses you spoke about, do they add up to the value you told the recruiter? If Yes, you can share your payslip and your bank statement with the value highlighted on your statement...write a short narrative explaining the difference in the body of the mail.


Note that if you forge a payslip and the recruiter suspects that it is fake, they may ask for your bank statement.

I had a nissan rogue 2008 that I perform regular check and maintenance frequently. It came up with a rattling noise at the first start in the day. Without any underlying issue apart from the rattling noise.

I went on to commence the replacement of the Camshaft gear, after the replacement and coupling it back, the car cranks but won’t start. After further diagnosis it was discovered there was no current on the coil to give sparks to the plugs

Now this is the most interesting part, on a normal car the right solution will be the crankshaft position sensor been faulty, but on nissan it was another issue entirely. Once the camshaft and crankshaft is not synchronised, you won’t get any start.

So I had to reset the timing which made us discover the timing adjuster to be the culprit of the jumping, it was fixed yet the car won’t start and supply current to the Coil. We had to get back down to wiring and it was discover some wiring were partially exposed and we had to run a full and thorough rewiring of the vehicle.

After all was done the car came to life and we were happy and even went ahead to test drive and all was ok until the next day and the vehicle goes back to no spark.After carefully examining it to determine where the issue is coming from After paying huge money to rewires and they don’t give me the right answer I want.

I discover the earth wire in nissan rogue was just the culprit all this time. One thing that actually trigger my curiosity was that the car will crank but won’t start and every other operation works fine. I brought in a battery of 100 amps to to crank and the vehicle came to live once.

Went ahead to run all test and came to the conclusion of the running another earth wire. Which was done getting a thick wire connecting it to the battery positive terminal and screwing it to one bolt on the car body.

The argument here isn't one of "conflict of interest".

The criteria for that contest was "the driver with the highest dashboard". The only two conditions were, be a driver and showcase your dashboard. There was no other rule, T&C or disclaimer that stated otherwise.

You can only declare this a conflict if Pearl had disqualified other candidates in favor of Gab or if it was a voting competition in which Pearl could "veto" the winner, which I don't think was the case here.

The actual debate here is that Pearl and Gab are same persons, so let's not derail the cruise.

Truth is, until the man comes in here to tell the full story, whatever advise we're dishing out na just our emotional opinions. It has already been stated that he was desperate, however there are a few other assumptions to this story:

1. The man may not have had proper knowledge of what HP is. If all he knew about was rentals then the excitement of getting the car after full payment may have been the reason for accepting this deal.

2. There may also be a couple of "perceived benefits" by the man in the contract. Until we see the contract, we can't fully understand it

Recently someone taught me that if it's not written down in a contract, do not assume it as true. Even if you've been told by mouth, let it be stated expressly because in court there's no "he said". Even if you recorded it, it could still be denied.

There's also a lesson in this story on contentment. Sometimes we do not need to be content. Because like say this brotherman no speak up, him for no know say him dy bad deal. Imagine that he's almost done half the deal.

Contentment and humility must be built on the right knowledge...full knowledge o!

Was there a CV format sent to you that stated your passport details had to be included?

If yes, then in that section state that your passport is being processed and would be ready soon.

If No, then you do not need to trouble yourself with including that detail. Just send them a CV you already have that highlights all your best points (skills & experiences) with respect to the role you're pursuing.

@Op, it could be a scam, it could be not. If you reached out to the firm 2 years ago, then send them your CV and take it one step at a time. Just be careful not to part with money as payment for anything. If your fear is your passport in processing, then you don't need to fear.

Everything takes time... You never can tell how long this process may take. Moreover, if you get an offer before your passport is out, be bold enough to tell them and ask for a bit more time.
