January 2008 i traveled to India for renal transplant which lasted for 4 months and was successful. Since then i travel to India yearly for medical checkup and purchase of Immuno-suppressant. Yes Lot of effort needs to be put to improve the quality of the medicine. During my visit to Nigeria i have found lots of expired date medicines lying in the pharmacy shop. To ensure the right medicine prescribed to the patient. Doctor should sign and stamp in the prescription (of hospital where is working or individual stamp). It will help the pharmacy shop to keep a tract that the medicine is prescribed by the right doctor. Thats not the only thing. We also need to improve the primary health care. Due to the lack of primary health care in the country at times patient get diagnosed false. Which leads to wrong treatment given to the patient. I have seen many patients in my hospital who were victims of wrong treatment and therefore their situation became worst. Now is the time where doctors who are coming up one specialty hospital in the country should have the meeting and plan to come up with multi super specialty hospital. It will help patients and prevent them to go the different hospital for different problems. Cyst needs to be removed by surgery. Surgery would not hamper the fertility. Should be seen by the good Gynae doctor. judano: I have been having this persistent back pain for some years now. It is really difficult to pin point when it started because it developed very slowly over the years. However, the pain has become almost unbearable since 2012. I feel pain at the back of my neck and a little below it. The whole muscles at my shoulder blades feel very stiff and painful. As a result, I cannot sit for too long (say 1 hour) without standing up to stretch and twist. |

M S Ramaiah Heart Center, managed by Health, has successfully treated a 3-month-old baby suffering from Anomalous Single Coronary Artery from Pulmonary Artery (ASCAPA). The hospital has stated that it is the first reported case treated in India. The patient, a three-month old baby, weighed around 3.5 kgs and had a critical heart condition VSD (ventricular septal defect) or hole in the heart before consulting doctors at MS Ramaiah Heart Center. On thorough investigations, multiple complications like high lung pressure and pneumonia were also discovered. Only when the child underwent surgery the doctors found that he suffered from a more complicated heart disease - Anomalous Single Coronary Artery from Pulmonary Artery (ASCAPA). ASCAPA is a condition where there is a single coronary artery with an anomalous origin from pulmonary artery instead of aorta. This is an extremely rare and rapidly lethal congenital heart disease. Normally there are two coronary arteries which help in supplying oxygenated, nutrition-rich blood to the heart. In the case of ASCAPA there is only one coronary artery which arises from the pulmonary artery (which carries the deoxygenated blood), resulting in more deoxygenated blood causing ischemia, infarction and eventually death. A child cannot survive beyond few months with such a condition. “This is the only reported case in India, where the child survived such a complicated surgery. The rare heart condition, usually diagnosed through post-mortem by autopsy. Despite several attempts at surgical correction, as on date there are very 5 cases in the world, where the procedure has been successful. Fortunately, the baby had another cardiac anomaly called VSD, which had protected the paediatric patient till the surgery. An accurate comprehension of the anatomy is crucial in the successful management of this condition,” said Dr K Ravi Shankar Shetty, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, M S Ramaiah Heart Center who performed the surgery. M S Ramaiah Heart Centre is a 100-bed dedicated Cardiac facility with expertise in treating Cardiac Emergencies and Rhythm disturbances of the Heart. It is the first in the state to have installed high-tech 3-D electro anatomical mapping system used in the treatment of complex heart rhythm problems. Laalamed: I agree with u. Primary healthcare services are very poor. Most private hospitals are running secondary care instead of basic care. Infact 80% of health problems can be handled in good basic healthcare facilities. Presently i am thinking of starting a comprehensive healthcare services business with focus on early diagnosis and treatment of common diseases using point of care testing, portable ecg machine, doppler uss etc.Yes, You are right and we need more people who should think of coming up with diagnostics centre. I have heard many stories where a patient goes to different places and being diagnosed differently and ends up traveling overseas. I strongly feel we need to put an efforts to make primary health care strong in Nigeria so that poor people who do not have medical access can be taken care of.. All doctors who are running one specialty hospitals should put joint efforts to come up with multi specialty hospital, will help patients getting treatment done under one roof rather going to one place to another. helpee: My doctor!!! Let me congratulate u ist for having the mind to start something on ur own. If u have passion for it then u are in the game. Not every doctor can own a hospital cos its tasking both physicslly and emotionally. I guess u must have worked in several private hospitals b4 cos u nid to understand not just medicine but also d business of private practise. I didnt register with CAC until one year after setting up d business. The most important registeration is with HEFAMMA at alausa first. Once u get a b place to set up, u will write a letter to d commissioner of health that u need permission to set up at so so place and the processing will start after d permission is granted. Feel free to asl more questions. U dnt need more than business registeration for a start and it cost about 10k plus as at 2011 when i did mine to setHello doctors, first, Let me take the opportunity to wish you all a great success. May your all dreams comes true. I believe Nigeria needs doctors like you who come up with such plans in Nigeria. I have been to Nigeria and was quite disappointed while looking at the health care system. I saw a lot of patients in the cue but could not see that feelings handle with care. I have seen some of the private clinics but they were not up to the mark. I feel now is the time where doctors like you should meet and come up with Multi specialty hospital then just one specialty. I know some doctors or business men who wants to come up with diagnostics center in Nigeria. If you all meet up and come up with proper diagnostics center that will definitely help the people there. Please help me to give your inputs on the topic " Nigeria needs basic health care" enable us to come up with some good plans to improve and also to reach to those who do not have medical access in Nigeria Regards Deepanshu Thukral +91 9008364411 deepanshu.thukral@yahoo.com |
