benalvino3: So you can chose when to and when not to understand English?
She said it "Systemic racism “doesn’t exist”" Why do you think cococandy put those quotation marks there ? ? ? ? ? Shudder Quotes / Scare Quotes Please learn: ------------ Those are commonly known as scare quotes (or shudder quotes).
When you place a word or phrase inside scare quotes, you are essentially telling the reader, "This is what someone else calls it, but I don't buy it."
The essence of using quotation marks this way boils down to three main functions:
1. Distance and Disavowal The primary function is to create a buffer between you and the word. By wrapping a term in quotes, you signal that you are merely borrowing the word from someone else's vocabulary and that you actively disagree with its accuracy.
Without quotes: The honest politician signed the treaty. (You believe they are honest.)
With quotes: The "honest" politician signed the treaty. (You are explicitly questioning their integrity.)
2. The Verbal "Air Quotes" Equivalent In speech, people often make a clipping motion with their index and middle fingers to signal sarcasm. In writing, scare quotes serve as the exact visual cue for that tone of voice. It alerts the reader to apply a skeptical, ironic, or mocking inflection to the word in their head.
3. Subversion of Meaning It flips the literal definition of a word to its opposite. It's a shorthand way of saying "so-called."---------------- *Extracted |

seunmsg: Lol. You are free not to see the economy that has been turned around. After all, even Peter Obi came on tv to say he will only see the negative things. It doest change anything about the great turnaround work that has been done on the economy. It won't stop foreign direct investment from flowing massively into the country. It won't stop ASUU from not going on strike and stability in the academic system. It won't stop progress on the massive super highways being constructed all over the country. So yes, keep seeing a destroyed economy, it's your right to be blind to reality. Reality is the difference in the consumer price index within three years okay? We know what you would have said about it if it was the handiwork of any person from another tribe. Superhighways indeed. Of course you will never avert your mind to the unprecedented corruption involved. I have told you to stop reasoning with that tribalistic mindset. It's your life, your choice. . |

IjeBos: That's the truth. And even the further abomination that they believe that they are being displaced by immigrants. If you can even imagine the concept of that. How can people with all the privilege of decades of citizenship in the US be displaced by immigrants with none. Instead of looking inward they decide they will let Trump brutalize them and the US as a means to wallow in their victimhood. But what happens when the immigrants are gone? Will W. Virginia or Mississippi not be poverty stricken states any longer?
The only upside is that Trump has allowed us to see who people really are esp. white people in our friend groups.. This your last line - my thoughts exactly. That is truly the only upside. His crass impunity has truly given us all the chance to see through to the heart of many white people who would have otherwise politely pretended. |

cococandy: I’m as much of a care worker as IjeBos is a gay man. Neither is bad. And neither is what any of us are. But it shows something about their psyche when you ponder upon what they think is an insult. And I think in a way, it explains why they’re the way they are.
They have no respect for people they consider lower in society. No respect for people’s autonomy to live and love as they wish. People who btw they’re no better than in anyway shape or form. Bemeruca would realistically kill to be a “care worker” in places that I’ve worked at.
But if you’re an assaulter or person who exploits others, then you automatically earn their respect. Very sinister minded people. Pathetic. Same attitude all the time. It unveils itself in the way they insult people whose shoe laces they are not worthy to tie. People whose blood and sacrifices actually made a way for them. And the way they worship people who worked and still work to denigrate and impoverish them. |

basilico: In other words 3 unreleased documents have Trump all over? I believe they have grotesque stuff that can't be released. Trump has a chequered past. In college he was known as the ladies man changing them every other week. Went on with his life.Owning a beauty pageant. High profile women whom he described would let themselves be grabbed by the P by a successful person. You know this is true today. That is if you are not a lord of poverty.
I've shown how FBI covered up for Biden and by extension Democrats. Imagine FBI digging up your past. All their resources. They ended up with only claims of Jane Does whose stories didn't add up.
New York state assembly changed the law specifically for E Jean Carroll to file lawsuit whose statue of limitations had expired. She was sponsored by Trump hating Reid Hoffman and George Conway. The judge in the case mentored E Jean Carroll lawyer before he became judge. E Jean Carroll . Her case mirrored a 2012 TV drama of Law and Order.lLkke Lewinsky she kept the dress she wore , She changed the year of the alleged incident when it was discovered the particular dress had not been designed. She told Anderson Cooper on live TV in 2019 that rape was sexy , he abruptly cut off the show. She claimed she has never slept with any other man after the incident.Tell me who can forget the year they last had sex . A woman whose career was about relationships. Judge himself called Trump a rapist despite the jury finding no evidence of rape but sexual violations. When Trump said she is not his type, the judge quickly rewarded her with millions of dollars using the biased jury verdict as the elephant in the room. The New York law was signed in 2022 when efforts to jail , mudsling and bankrupt Trump were in high gear. Led by FBI and DOJ under Biden.
With Trump you take every accusation and stretch it to the limits. When it's democrats you happily ignore and dismiss any allegations as conspiracy theories. Trump inquisitors are not just the media ,it's the intelligence community, CIA, FBI and big tech. Run by the same people who covered up Hunter Biden laptop and lied about it FBI had the laptop in 2018 and had verified it's contents. At the sham impeachment,FBI said nothing. After 51 IC members said it was Russia disinformation, FBI said nothing. They produced the laptop in court however at hunter Biden trial. Two clear instancea that would have stopped the impeachment, and also affected the 2020 election. E Jean Carroll lawyer had first joined the litigation dept headed by the same presiding judge in the case.No conflicts ? Is there any Jury that decides against Trump that you would not call biased? Look into your heart and answer that question sincerely. After all how many courts decided against Trump in the election matter and you still believe he won. Even when all Republican appointed judges decided against him? This is enough to show there is nothing objective about you on these matters. Aside from this case, anyone can list several instances of Trump's sexual misconduct off the top of their head. There are so many. And you know it. Where to start will even be a problem. A man who himself said one of his pleasures about owning a pageant was that he could walk into the dressing rooms of the contestants. How many pros have his story and how many has he paid off? The fact that he has raped minors is cast in stone. No amount of grammar can wish it away. There is credible testimony. Don't worry he will not be in power forever and all these laughable stories being cooked up by his laughable hires will end. Have some self respect. |
Politics › Re: Is President Tinubu Indirectly Implementing Recommendations Of The CONFAB 2014? by DeepSightZ: 6:17am On May 11 |
WriterX:
.
This is exactly what political propaganda looks like in 2026 Nigeria
drown people in big grammar, long lists, “global commendations,” and institutional name-dropping while avoiding the one thing citizens are actually asking daily
“Has life improved for ordinary Nigerians?”
Because if a government is supposedly producing the “highest GDP growth in three decades,” why is inflation still crushing households?
Why is food inflation among the highest in Africa?
Why has purchasing power collapsed so badly that salaries disappear before mid-month?
You cannot eat GDP.
You cannot cook IMF praise.
You cannot fry “foreign commendations.”
The reality on Nigerian streets is different from this carefully packaged political sermon for reelection.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), inflation crossed historic levels after subsidy removal and naira floatation policies.
Food prices skyrocketed. Transport costs exploded. Electricity tariffs increased. The naira lost massive value against the dollar. Millions of Nigerians were pushed deeper into multidimensional poverty.
So when supporters begin reciting “reforms” without honestly discussing consequences, what they are really asking Nigerians to do is applaud pain and disappointment because it has PowerPoint presentation slides behind it.
I read carefully the write-up. And guess what almost every “achievement” listed is either
• A proposal,
• A decentralisation announcement,
• An institutional restructuring,
• Or an unfinished policy framework.
But Nigerians are not living inside policy intentions. Nigerians are living inside economic outcomes.
– Has the rehabilitation of refineries significantly crashed fuel prices? No. – Has foreign exchange unification stabilised the naira? No. – Has insecurity reduced enough for farmers to safely return to farms nationwide? No. – Has the cost of transportation reduced? No. – Has electricity become more affordable and stable for small businesses? No. – Have wages increased proportionally with inflation? Absolutely not. – Where is the State police? Do we need Google to search it out?
And this habit of using “global commendation” as proof of local success is intellectually dishonest.
The IMF often praises fiscal discipline and subsidy reforms because they improve macroeconomic indicators and debt structures.
But those same policies can and in past, have simultaneously increased hardship for citizens in the short term whenever social protections are weak — which is exactly what Nigerians are experiencing currently.
Mr speaker, please this is my own recommendation.
OFF MIC and GO GET SOME SLEEP!! Too well said. On point. This country will regret the actions of this govt more than those of any other in its history. It is the worst government ever bar none. |

Dean’s Interest List: Children of major donors.

benalvino3: Your argument is emotional, 0 logic.
You are saying past racism justifies present racial discrimination. I disagree 💯
I do not support unfairness in favour of whites or blacks. I am consistently holding this position.
I support equal standards. If the playing field is unfair, fix the barriers.
But do not pretend racial preference is the same thing as fairness.
You really should stop hiding behind you support white supremacy. This is your lazy way of reasoning and to avoid the rel debate.
The issue is whether people today shouod be treated differently because of their race? My answer is no. What is your answer? You are the one lacking logic. Did you not see in my post that the Supreme Court has barred any race based consideration while a majority of whites still enjoy preferential treatment in admissions based on things like donations? This incapacity to read and think is really sad. |
