Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, has declared
that his desire to buy over English Premier
League club, Arsenal is by no means diminished.
Since making his interest on Arsenal known last
year, many felt the dream had died. But Mr.
Dangote said he needed to wait for his business
prospects to improve and his investments in gas
pipelines and an oil refinery to play out before
making the acquisition which he hopes will be
completed in about four years’ time.
Mr. Dangote said in an interview with Bloomberg
Television on Wednesday that “there’s no doubt”
he’ll buy Arsenal. He said it was not a problem.
“Maybe three to four years. The issue is that we
have more challenging headwinds. I need to get
those out (of) the way first and start having
tailwinds. Then I’ll focus on this,” he said.
Mr. Dangote, worth about $10.9 billion, according
to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, was quick to
also state that when he eventually takes over
Arsenal, it would not be business as usual at the
Emirates ground of the Gunners.
“It’s not about buying Arsenal and just continuing
with business as usual,” he said. “It’s about
buying Arsenal and turning it around. I’ve run a
very successful business and I think I can also
run a very successful team. Right now, with what
we’re facing, over $20 billion of projects, I cannot
do both.”
Dangote, an Arsenal fan since 1980, has lost $4.4
billion this year – the fourth most of anyone
globally – due mainly to the depreciation of
Nigeria’s currency, the billionaires index shows.
The bulk of his wealth is tied up in Lagos-based
Dangote Cement Plc, whose stock is down 4.7
percent this year.
If he succeeds in his acquisition bid, Mr. Dangote
will be the first African owner of a team in
England’s Premier League.

As long as you don't stalk me or try to rape me, nigga keep being gay. Totally not my business. Another person's sexuality shouldn't bother u so much. And if u think killing n beating dem makes God like u or makes u feel like one of his avengers den u must really be a dunce. We all sin one way or the other. I've been having unprotected extra marital sex like since hw many years nw. I'm a big sinner in God's eyes. I club, I drink and I curse. So I dnt think I should be d person judging another person for doing all dis things just because he's doing it with a guy. Gays dey naija wella but dey're all forced into hiding. No one is being forced. In fact it's almost like it's legal already in dis country. U can choose whether or not to patronise lol any other business venture. Marriages already destroy themselves and I dnt see how legalising prostitution promotes discipline. Perhaps you can elaborate. As regards health issues, ppl already have health problems. It's part of the banes of human existence, besides derez condom. Wives give their husbands HIV almost everyday in world. So with all due respect, I don't think ur points are valid. Africans r too self righteous and pretentious. Dats our problem.

In my humble opinion, prostitution should be a legal business in our society. Although, it's not legal sef, ppl still patronise prostitutes covertly. It's d trade of sex n it's been described by many as d world's oldest trade. Legalising it will improve the country's tax returns, reduce or totally eliminate the need for trafficking, and will also keep ppl healthy for consenting adults who want to engage in the act. Not dat I've ever patronised prostitutes, Lord knows I dnt need to, but as a free spirit I think it should be a legal business. D social benefits r surprisingly plentiful. Wat do u think?
