"H" is neither a vowel nor a consonant. It is voiceless. So you're allowed to use either of the two.

But, if we're to follow the rule strictly, the op is more correct than you.

The next letter/alphabet should determine if its "a" or "an".

In this case the next alphabet has a vowel sound so the most appropriate will be an hilarious not a hilarious but you're still grammatically permitted to use either of the two in some cases.


Example:

1. "Get me a hyacinth flower for the decoration". (correct)

2. "Get me an hyacinth flower for the decoration". (incorrect)

If I will be sincere with u,I don't think 2.1 is still a realistic goal going by your current results. I will advise u brace yourself write the CO's as soon as possible, study really hard and pass with good grades. And please while reading ,make u get u a good grasp of what u are reading,don't just cram because reading to understand is the best way to learn. I suggest u get close to your seniors or ur coursemates who understand to explain the topics u don't understand. Tell them to explain to u in plain terms,not the professional terminologies lecturers use in class.
By doing this, u will be a better graduate even better than some 2.1 graduates whom u will floor during job interviews because u really know what u studied and did not just cram it.

So my friend just focus on getting at least a 2.2 with good grasp of what u studied

To be frank with you,I don't think it is possible because 2.5 to 3.5 is such a huge gap that is very hard to bridge considering the fact that you ђƏνЄ just 3 semesters to go... I faced a similar situation in 300level when I finished 200lecel with a cgpa of 4.0 and was hoping to move to 4.5 with ease...though my cgpa was boosted i̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ each semesters i̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ 300level and also the 1st semester of 400level,I can categorically tell you that I was not able to cross †̥ђe̶̲̥̅ 4.5 mark and as it į̸̸̨§ now there į̸̸̨§ ♌☺ hope of crossing it 2nd semester as well even with a gp of 5.0 i̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ 2nd semester alone... Tell me, ΐ̲̅ƒ̲̅ Ȋ̝̊̅†̥'s that difficult from crossing †̥ђe̶̲̥̅ 4.5 mark from 4.0 over 4semesters,how much more crossing †̥ђe̶̲̥̅ 3.5 mark from 2.5 over just 3semesters... It may be possible elsewhere,but lasu's academic environment į̸̸̨§ not that favourable...I Ѡill just advise U̶̲̥̅̊ to keep working hard and remain focus and avoid dropping to a lower grade because 2.5 į̸̸̨§ very close to †̥ђe̶̲̥̅ danger zone. ΐ̲̅ƒ̲̅ U̶̲̥̅̊ KϞ0w what I mean
