For Q1. even though you can get the mass concentration like you did, you are expected to get it's molar concentration from the concentration and volume of HCl via the equation of reaction and Mike ratio and then multiply by the molar mass to get the mass concentration.
Good Job by the way.
Molar Conc is not known yet, it is another question for (b) part of the question, hence the reason to use solution standardization method.

dejt4u:
For Q2
i; 2HCl + Na2CO3 --> 2NaCl + H2O + CO2

ii; Conc. of B in mol/dm³ can be calculated using the formula [(CA × VA)/(CB × VB)] = NA/NB,

So CB = (CA × VA × NB)/(VB × NB),
CA = 0.16M (or 0.16mol/dm³)
VA = 13.20cm³
VB = 25.00cm³
NA = 2 and
NB = 1

iii; molar mass of B = (mass conc in g/dm³)/(Conc of B in mol/dm³)
To get mass conc in g/dm³, standardize the solution, i.e (3g/250cm³) × 1000cm³ = 12g/dm³

Also, Conc of B in mol/dm³ is the answer to Q2(ii) above

iv; To get the value of X, sub for mass numbers of Na, C, H and O and equate everything to the molar mass calculated in Q(iii) above

i.e Na2CO3 + XH2O = Answer in Q(iii),
23(2) + 12 + 16(3) + X((1×2)+16) = Answer in Q(iii),
106 + 18X = Answer in Q(iii),
Then collect the like terms and make X the subject of formula
(That is your final answer)

v; % by mass of water of crystallization = (Molar Mass of XH2O) divided by Molar Mass of B (i.e Na2CO3.XH2O) × 100%

NB: Molar Mass of Na2CO3.XH2O, is the answer in Q2 (iii).
To get molar mass of XH2O, substitute for the atomic mass of each elements in the compound and the value of X we got in Q2(iv)

Education / Re: Help Solve This Chemistry Question by dejt4u(m): 10:58pm On Oct 27, 2019
OK.. Since we are not sure of the Dibasic acid, we can't determine it's molar mass directly by adding the Atomic masses.. But we can get it's molar mass by using the formula,

Molar mass = (Mass conc. g/mol) / (Molar Conc in mol/dm³)

Molar conc is our answer to Q3(ii) above
Mass conc is (3.5g/250cm³) × 1000cm³ which is equal to 14.0g/dm³

Tnx bro..

In d last question under number 2, i. Substitutin for the atomic number of each element, we get something like na2Co3xH20 = 23*2 +12+16*3 + x + 1*2 +16

=106+ x + 18... Im lost here, how do i deal with the X
you don't need to disturb yourself.. Just add molar mass of Na2CO3 to molar mass of XH2O calculated in Q2(iii)

i.e Na2CO3 + XH2O
Education / Re: Help Solve This Chemistry Question by dejt4u(m): 10:29pm On Oct 27, 2019
Now to Question 3
i; dibasic acids are acids with two H atom i.e, they can donate 2protons.. Examples of a dibasic acid is H2SO4.

H2SO4 + 2NaOH --> Na2SO4 + 2H2O

ii; [(CA × VA)/(CB × VB)] = NA/NB,

CB = 0.2M (or 0.2mol/dm³)
VA = 20.00cm³
VB = 35.40cm³
NA = 1 and
NB = 2

Is there a need to convert the 25cm3 and 20cm3 to dm3 by dividing by 1000?
not necessary,.. Even if you convert them, you're still going to get the same answer as the units will eventually cancel each other.. e.g 1÷2 is the same thing as 1000÷2000

I've inserted the equation for the reaction

Hello guys.. I need urgent help from any chemistry guru in the house to help solve this.. Just got home very tired and my younger sister is crying on me to do this assignment for her... Save a brother's sister from cane pls, google hasn't been of good help here

P. S just solve and snap and paste here pls.. Very urgent

1a; standardize the solution to get the concentration of B in g/dm³
i.e (2.65g/250cm³)×1000cm³ = 8.60g/dm³

1b; use the formula
[(CA × VA)/(CB × VB)] = NA/NB,
Where CA and CB rep. Conc. of A and B respectively. VA and VB rep. conc. of A and B respectively. NA/NB is the mole ratio of A to B

In this case, A is the acid, (the HCl) and B is the Base (Na2CO3)

CA is what you are asked to calculate,
CB is your answer in 1a above divided by the Molar mass of B,
VA is 20cm³, VB is 25cm³, NA = 2 and NB = 1

Equation for the reaction:
2HCl + Na2CO3 --> 2NaCl + H2O + CO2

Now,let me lecture you. UI alumni make use of their matric number immediately they get admission into the Uni.. If you enrol in UG, you will use same matric number for your M.Sc and PhD. All those you see having their matric number from 1 most likely completed their UG few years back. In my class, I have a mate with five digits starting from 5, which means he graduated years back. It shows the Uni has information/data for all her students no matter the level or year you graduated. If you decide to come back for your PhD, you would continue with your M.sc matric number. That settles that. Next time,do your research and don't me myopic on issues.

On the issue of enthnicity, I wonder where you got this. Seriously, if I lay my hands on your matric number, I would forward this to the VC and copy the Dean. You are not worthy to hold UI certificate in all ramifications. You stooped so low with all these words and you expect someone to respect you when you present the certificate for further studies. Don't always be childish. Because you failed one course does not mean they give away marks or acknowledge their alumni before others. You need to thank your stars that you were even given admission because if it were other Uni, you would not be recognised. Instead of attacking the Uni and making it look as if it happens in all depts, why can't you be bold enough to mention the name of the lecturer or dept involved. I know your department but be bold enough to name course lectures that "dash" mark as you posited.

You failed, you were here ranting all over the years instead of you to face your primary assignment, you made use of social media like your life depends on it. Now you have realised, you are not brilliant but a smart kid that was able to manipulate his lecturers in UG days. Sorry, your PhD hopes have been dashed or you even failed the meet up with Mphil/Phd? Haa, well,you can manage the Mphil grade at least some folks started from there and completed their PhD.

lol.. You just murdered that young guy.. You're wicked o grin grin

Heard someone was denied a PhD grade in a department too because he wasn't a UI graduate
lilliesboy:
Tell me why some fellow (postgraduate) students will be gossiping and CRITICIZING another student (BEHIND his back like COWARDS) for challenging some of his results. A student had the GUTS to challenge SEVEN (7) of his poor results taught by AT LEAST two (2) lecturers each - that is at least FOURTEEN (14) lecturers of the so-called ONLY "best" university with ONLY "best/brilliant" alumni; and instead of either encouraging him or keeping their mouths shut as cowards and DUNES who DEFINITELY "benefitted" from the injustice/so-called tribalism, they are saying rubbish BEHIND his back. Coincidentally, these are the DULL students who had UNMERITED "A's" and "B's". Are they AFRAID of something? Are their conscience haunting them?

Since you went to school, have you heard or seen a DULL student petitioning her/his results? For a student to petition his result, especially in a so-called "world renowned" university like the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and SEVEN (7) courses for that matter (taken by at least 14 lecturers) then it should tell you (if at all you are reasonable) that the student TOTALLY believes in his ABILITY and KNOWS the injustice that took place. Mind you, I did NOT fail all the seven (7) petitioned courses; I scored at least "50%" in four (4) of them - grades that MANY (dull) students will be so HAPPY and CONTENDED to get. Yet, I am insisting that even those supposed pass/average "50%" grades are NOT my real scores and can NEVER be! Therefore, YOU and THEM should be the ones to be AFRAID of my petition because ONLY a dull and/or corrupt student (like yourself) will NOT challenge her/his poor results since you KNOW you are not capable of scoring better but to criticize and GOSSIP me and my likes BEHIND my back!

One of them - a female BUSYBODY Yoruba who knows little or nothing in class, tried to exchange words with me two days ago at the Department when I was discussing with another female and none of us had mentioned her name. Because she got many (UNMERITED) "60%" and above scores, she thought I was petitioning my SEVEN (7) results ONLY because of her out of OVER 25 (dull/Yoruba) students that had even better UNMERITED scores. She tried saying shit but I cautioned her and would have BEAT her properly and wait for whatever if not for intervention from others. Her BUSYBODY needs to be "treated" properly. She is already feeling GUILTY even when I did not mention her or anyone's name. These are the students who are afraid that if a proper, INDEPENDENT and UPRIGHT panel/body is to carry out a THOROUGH investigation of my petition by "digging out" and comparing scripts with mine, they WILL surely be EXPOSED! Or, tell me why a fellow student(s) will be taking things so PERSONAL when another student is petitioning his own results and not HERS/his or others and especially when HER/his name was NOT mentioned in my case?

Hmm. I smell a "rat" in this issue. Na BIG "rat" I dey smell 4dis mata. We shall SEE!
