This pix looks more like policemen running away from boko haram. Notice the front cop already has an unbuttoned uniform. Notice also the dry/arid land. Benin or whereever you say will be green grassland by this mid raining season.
PoliticsWhy Gen. Olukolade, Marylin Ogar Should Be Redeployed To Borno State by dekronik(op): 9:03am On Aug 19, 2014
Its my humble opinion that these two are doing a very shoddy PR job for their respective agencies. Even SiriusBlack gives a better update than Gen. Olukolade before he was banned.
I think Marylin Ogar should be posted to head the SSS PR team in Borno state while Gen. Olukolade should be the new GOC of 7 Div. Maiduguri. From there they will both have first hand experience on the war fronts to perfectly brief us the massess. Long Live FRN.

9jalyte: when In read the comments of our young people, I get really scared. If we will leave our future in the hands of these kind of people, we may go to extinction. This is why I have always bothered why they have stopped teaching history in schools, it show on how our young men and women lack strategic thinking, because it takes one who understands global politics and societal trending to understand the implications of every decision/policy of govt.
Just a question, for those always calling Uncle Sam, and friends to come and help us, let them give us a reference of where they went for intervention and left it better than they met it. Just give me one eg. Nigeria, as a well respected nation is the interest of every nation. The bigger bros nations want to keep in check any emerging force from the last continent, for the other small African countries, we are there last hope. If we go down, they are doomed. No strong voice will emerge from Africa again. look at how egypt had been put into crises, Libya is a shadow of it's self, SA is just a cosmetic African nation, Kenya is having the same Nigerian headache. Every potentially strong Africa nation is facing one challenge or the other.
I expected smart thinkers to begin to do root cause analysis, bring every possible cause, enemy and threat to table and analyze the conspiracy theories critically. Something is obviously fishy, but we keep looking inwards. If we do not know who to trust, how come you want to invite some people to come in, just the way it is predicted that you may act. African is not a young continent, but we have been reasoning like political adolescents. It is time to face our troubles squarely. It is time for us to visit again that which worked for us - have an African peace keeping force. We can solve our problem, if we stop acting inferior.
Just a food for thought: There was an out break of ebola in west Africa, some white doctors were infected. Just immediately, a super serum came out and the doctors were treated. the rest were left to spread the disease and die. Question, Americans have spent so much money in military operations in Africa, and in HIV and others, and are ready to spend more money if they were allowed to come in for our Chibok girls, but they cannot afford to leg go a few vial of this serum to tackle the ebola now before it gets out of hand. I want those with brain to reason around this. And please, it will do you go to read well and wide, it will save you and our society the embarrassment of childish comments.
I agree with you in some areas while I disagree in others. Mali is an example of where Islamist/Jihadist were rooted out of their bases in little time with no repercursion what so ever. Its not all cases where we have an Iraq or Libya.

icebeatz: http://spankthedonut..com/2014/08/how-is-boko-haram-better-armed-than.html

for sometime now i have been questioning the popular believe that boko haram is better armed and more motivated than the Nigerian Army.
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/02/boko-haram-better-armed-better-motivated-shettima/

Okay, i might agree that they are more motivated because anyone that can blow himself up because of religion is really cynically motivated.

My main question is this:

HOW IS BOKO HARAM BETTER ARMED THAN THE NIGERIAN ARMY?
DO THEY HAVE ARMORED VEHICLES OR AIR SUPPORT?

Please how are they better armed and motivated by the Nigerian Army?
www.nairaland.com/attachments/1529900_uy2_jpeg0058f4bbd25609203a40926945ad3a12
They are not. The truth is they concentrate ALL there weapons in EVERY single attack they carry out. Also they also use non conventional fighting methods eg shooting at soldiers with AAG's(anti aircraft guns). A professionally trained soldier will never shoot an enemy with an AAG(I stand to be corrected). Thirdly and most importantly they are part and percel of their immediate society which makes them hard to detect and becomes really frustrating. A boko haram commander can pass an Army checkpoint ten times daily without beign detected as long as he isn't carrying any weapon. So how do you know he is BH? So they are able to use this advantage to study and find weaknessess in our military and strike where it hurts most. The society itself is part of the problem. Many residents of Borno and the greater part of notherners support boko haram either actively or passively. So some civilians are actually more dangerous than boko haram since they know them and don't expose them. Some even store weapons for them ready for any operation. Its such a sad and pathetic scenario but the truth is WE WILL OVERCOME. By Gods Grace.

Well, I said this before and everyone was castigating me. How long do we delay the inevitable? Now is time to strike these bastards once and for all. Now that Shekau and his boys are concentrated in Gwoza, its best airtsrikes are utilised. Whether we like it or not, we need intense air power to defeat these boys.

sarutobie: I stopped joining the "our corrupt leaders" bandwagon a long time ago. look around on this thread and you will begin to understand that the people are more or less worse than the leaders...a people who get excited when terrorist succeed but doubt and put down the effort of the military (who have been dying in their numbers to keep these ungrateful populace safe)...some of them have already branded nigeria (together with the western countries) their enemy
God bless you my broda. Its as if they are hell bent on distorying the image of our brave and gallant soldiers. In truth nearly 50,000 boko haram fighters have been killed and nearly 500-800 officers and men of the armed forces lost. But our people tend to celebrate when terrorist kill soldiers more than when soldiers kill terrorists. Such a shame.
The reason why soldiers withdraw from formations when BH attacks is simple: live to fight another day than die a hero. These are men who are specially trained while BH are sent to go and die. The amount of resources spent on training a SINGLE soldier makes his life more valuable than 1000 boko haram boys. So that's why loss of life in the Army is avoided at all cost.
The Army have recaptured Damboa, fleeing terrorist attacked Gwoza carting away foodstuff in cars and headed towards Sambissa forrests. Go to BBC hausa and verify. What's so difficult to believe there. Even LEADERSHIP newspaper has the story. Doubting Thomasses should go to hell(read Sambissa).

Many killed as terrorists raze police station, churches, others in Maiduguri

MAIDUGURI — Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram sect members, yesterday, attacked the border town of Gwoza at dawn; setting ablaze the Divisional Police Station, council secretariat complex and other buildings.

Scores of people were killed in the process. Gwoza is a border council headquarters, and 135 kilometres southeast of Maiduguri, the state capital.
The gunmen, according to a resident, Yahaya Mbursa, also burnt down two churches, before snatching unspecified number of vehicles at the motor-park near the burnt police station, before fleeing into the hill tops of Mandara Mountains and Sambisa Forest, yesterday morning.
Another eye witness, Mbursa Ibrahim, a bus driver at the motor-park, also said: “The Boko Haram dawn attacks were very shocking and terrifying, as the gunmen burst into this town through the mountain tops and western forest of Sambisa, 18 kilometres from this town. Some of the residents had to flee into nearby bushes and hills, near this market square.
“I cannot tell you the exact number of people killed, yesterday, while fleeing, but about a dozen were shot dead. We had to run for our dear lives this morning (Wednesday), when the gunmen attacked this motor-park, and warned us not to panic, but should surrender all the vehicles; including the ones being loaded with passengers. Some of us fled, while others took cover behind the buildings shivering, believing that the insurgents were going to shoot us.”
Confirming the incident, yesterday, in Maiduguri, the former Council Vice‑Chairman, Mr. Francis Mbala, said gunmen attacked Gwoza town, burning a police station, churches and other public buildings, before snatching unspecified number of vehicles at the motor-park.
He said: “I am yet to get the exact number of people killed in yesterday’s dawn attacks, but the report being sent to me on my phone indicated that there were casualties in the multiple attacks.
“They are yet to furnish me with the number of our people killed by suspected gunmen that burst into the town through the hill-tops, the southern entry point on Gwoza‑Madagali road; and Damboa road that leads to Sambisa Forest.”
According to a military source, who preferred anonymity, “the insurgents are on rampage, as they have no other place to hide now, other than to attack vulnerable towns and villages near the mountain tops and Sambisa Forest.”

If you like, believe Sahara-nonesense. From the facts on ground, BH went purposely to steal cars for their next phase of car bombings.

According to BBC hausa, terrorist chased from Damboa were the ones that fled to Gwoza to kill and burn churces.

Kalvan50: You and I are the only intelligent people on this Thread. Look at these cretins around us.
...... and the two of you are the only boko haram sympathisers here.
I'm really appalled by some of the views expressed by Nigerians as this goes to show the level of ignorance to what is happening around the country, most especially the north east.
Before you understand how dangerous boko haram is, you need to first critically appraise the almajiri system in northern Nigeria which has become the pool for steady fighters and jihadist in the north. Almajiris are basically street urchins and thugs who practically grew up in the streets all in the name of getting Koranic education. These boys(and girls) are exposed to real life hazard and dangers right from age 5 upwards. They become hardened and toughened as a result of fending for themselves early that by age 13 an average almajiri is tougher and bolder than a "normal" 28 year old. These boys have no form of love and emotion as they have never been shown such. Almajiris roam the streets of Kano, Sokoto, Katsina, Maiduguri(most especially) etc in groups of hundreds and sometimes thousands begging up and down. Many of them are used for ritual money by some Alhajis and many die of diseases and hazards due to no parental care. This is where Boko haram comes in. The top echelons of boko haram know that based on pure strength and sophistication, they can't match any countries army and to prevent them beign wiped off, the recruitment of almajiris is quite important. Looking at it from an almajiri perspective, the promise of free food, money to spend and of course FREE WOMEN to sleep with are to enticing to refuse. An almajiri who has never had sex all his life is now promised free girls to choose from will jump at it since the alternative is a life of begging and starvation. Remember data shows that we have up to 10 MILLION almajiris. Just imagine such a huge army. Kill 1000 boko haram today another 100,000 are ready to replace them. Just watch the video of Giwa barracks attack and you will understand what I'm saying on how dangerous these dirty looking, disease infected almajiris are. These are boys with no mercy, coz they have never been shown any. Why should our Army be criticised for not showing mercy to them. Remember that MOST boko haram fighters are boys between ages 13-18. This is WAR and all means to an end is JUSTIFIED. Just ask America how many innocent lives they took in Iraq just to topple Saddam and you will be shocked

byrron: I thought im the only one wondering this morning what exactly is the plans of the western world towards Nigeria because I see the Libyan kind of media propaganda against Nigeria by the western world playing out here and its beginning to frighten me, this was the same strategy used in libya to turn the people against themselves and that once peaceful nation is now a shadow of what it use to be and it seems Nigeria is the next place to be thrown into eternal turmoil using its citizens against one another and its really working as planned and will soon escalate.

I woke up this morning and turned my telly on to France 24 news channel only to see video clips of Nigerian soldier's along with some armed civillians whom I presumed are the local vigilante group working alongside with the jtf really beating up some arrested individuals that are said to be boko haram members.

The reporter said lots of negative things about Nigerian soldier's and I am yet to see the western media nor amnesty international relay to the world video clips of the horror boko haram have been dishing out to innocent Nigerians.

The report for once never condemn the boko haram activities but was busy lambasting the same Nigerian soldier's who have being doing their best to confront these animals?

Honestly I don't really know why this subtle support for boko haram the terrorist organization while demonising the Nigerian government and the military.

Here in new york, a man is being treated for ebola and their is no noise about it on the media here but this same tv channels here potray Nigeria as if all nigerians now have ebola and I ask myself why are these guys doing this?

What do they want from Nigeria?
You have said it all. Ask any christian(and some muslims) in Borno the horrors they face daily from boko haram and my brother you will shed tears. Yet the so called AI will just look the other way. Yet whenever the Nigerian Army kills boko haram boys. All hell will be let loose by AI and their foreign media brothers.

I'm really tired of this useless boko haram supporting organisation that calls itself amnesty international. When boko haram slaughtered Umar Abubakar of Nigerian Airforce and killed and burned villages and houses AI will be no where to be found. Any slight reaction from the Nigerian Army the so called AI will begin to accuse the federal govt of "war crimes". For God and heavens sake what sort of hypocrisy is this? In the video of the slaughtering of Umar Abubakar the boys gleefully declared they are members of BH and "allah" has given them an "infidel". Why is AI not charging them to Hague. What could constitute war crime than gunmen invading villages and burning of houses, kidnapping of young girls etc. I have just one thing to say: F**k Amnesty International.

Why don't you tell the US and UN to swallow their pride and lend Nigeria their fighter planes for 1yr and see if BH won't call for ceasefire.
I shudder at your level of reasoning. How can I lend you something if you don't ask me for it? If we don't want foriegn troops on our soil we could at least request for lending of fighter jets. But just sitting idle and giving those dirty illitrate bastards the initiative is what pisses me off.
In short, GEJ should just meet Obama and request for fighter jets.

Today Damboa, tomorrow Maiduguri(God forbid) how long do we wait before what needs to be done is done. A better equipped terrorrist group MUJAO was dislodged in Mali with intense and sustained airstrikes within weeks. Why can't we have such here for Gods sake? How long do we continue to delay the inevitable. Whether we like it or not, we need highly sophisticated airstrikes to crush BH once and for all. If we don't start now, we will still beg the US/UK, French Govt.in the future to help us.

The fact still remains, air assault is still the best form of attack in modern warfare. You jus can't send in men into sambissa forrest without first weakening the enemy defences by air. As oga siriusblack said on his thread, even a whole army division can be massacred inside there.

Embattled Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, has been impeached.

The governor was removed a while ago as the state House of Assembly deliberated on the report of an investigative panel that probed allegations of financial misconducts against him.

Earlier, the state Deputy Governor, Bala Ngilari, resigned from office to avoid being impeached.

Mr. Ngilari’s resignation letter was read at plenary by the speaker of the Assembly, Umaru Fintiri, after which the lawmakers approved it.

The House is sitting today to consider the report of the seven-member investigative panel, appointed to probe allegations of financial impropriety against the governor and his deputy.

The committee submitted its report to the House on Monday.

There is high security presence on the road leading to the Assembly and inside the complex.

A source, who works with the Assembly, told PREMIUM TIMES only staff and journalists are being allowed access into the Assembly.

The source requested not to be named because he had no permission to speak to journalists on the matter.
