A brother just finds it difficult to control his sexual urge by mastvrbating(self servicing). He always promise God again and again not to get involved in such acts anymore but finds out that the urge always come afta like two weeks and then he falls again. Another problem is that once he taste it again, he continously engages himself. This sometimes severe the relationship between him and his spiritual life. He is sick and tired of it bt couldn't stop. Is it really a sin or he is the one making it to be. He needs your candid advice in a spiritual perspective. |
A group, Concerned PDP Stakeholders, on Thursday, advised President Goodluck Jonathan to reconcile with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in order to win in the South-West in 2015. In a statement by its coordinator, Mr.Taofeek Oshodi, the group said since the All Progressives Congress had picked Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), as the running mate to Maj.Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) the President must devise plans to woo the Yoruba. The group noted that the President needed to give the South-West a firm commitment and demonstration of recognition by considering its indigenes for top political appointments. The group said, “The foremost strategic step President Jonathan should take immediately is to find a way to reconcile with his estranged political godfather who is the National Leader of the PDP, and the most respected political figure in the South-West. There is no other way out. “The President must know that with the APC fielding a Yoruba Vice-President from a Christian background, we need to strategise on balancing political appointments now as the only way to tilt the equation. If President Jonathan wants to win the 2015 elections he must do this without delay.” While reacting to the APC’s claim that its presidential primary was transparent, the group said the votes counted at the primary did not add up. According to the group, if over 7, 000 delegates were accredited to vote at the venue and only a total of 6,000 votes were accounted for according to the figures released, the APC should explain what happened to the remaining 1,206 votes. “The APC should explain this to Nigerians as some of us are observing them and would not like them to deceive Nigerians with their bogus claims of transparency and fair process. Some APC delegates from Delta State were not allowed to vote,” it said. The group argued that the APC had no track record of good governance and that all it had was to give Nigerians “promises.” “The PDP remains the safest option for Nigeria. We cannot put Nigeria in the hands of adventurers and politicians whose motive to get to the corridors of power is due to their grievances and self-interest. The devil we know is definitely better than the saint we don’t know,” the group stated. www.punchng.com/politics/reconcile-with-obasanjo-pdp-group-tells-jonathan/ |

The All Progressives Congress has advised the Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, to stop lying in order to project the image of the President to Nigerians. The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said this while reacting to Okupe’s claim that Jonathan had improved on electricity more than any other administration since independence. Okupe had further claimed that Jonathan had been able to increase the power generation from 2,800 megawatts he met on the ground to 4,800 megawatts. However, Mohammed, during an interview with our correspondent on Thursday, said that Okupe’s claims contradicted the figures released by the Federal Ministry of Power on December 11, 2014, which put the power generation at 2,945megawatts. Mohammed said, “He says Jonathan has improved on electricity more than any other President. So, is that why we have gone below 3,000 megawatts? You can’t lie about that. This was contained in their official statement. I can understand his (Okupe) problem; they have to lie because they have nothing to show Nigerians. “Anybody that buys diesel or petrol to fuel his generator everyday will know the truth. That person will be able to calculate the number of hours of blackout. It is a pity that they have nothing to show Nigerians and so they resort to telling lies which has to stop.” Mohammed berated Okupe for claiming that the Jonathan administration had been able to curb corruption. Okupe had said Nigeria’s movement from its 144th position on Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index last year to 136th position this year was an indication that a lot had been achieved by the Jonathan administration in the anti-corruption war. However, Mohammed said he was not surprised at Okupe’s remark as it showed that the Jonathan administration embraced mediocrity. He said, “Why would they celebrate such stupid mediocrity? Is that worth celebrating? Ask Okupe that if his child comes home with such a scorecard the will he be happy? We in the APC have no time celebrating such nonsense. Right now we are focusing on the issue of what we are going to give Nigerians. “Nigerians have seen from the conduct of our convention and our presidential candidate that we are ready for change. Our ranking on corruption is shameful. “Is it not funny that it is the same Okupe who, a couple of months ago, when Nigeria was ranked 144 by Transparency International, rejected the report and questioned the integrity of the organisation but now he is rejoicing. No serious government should celebrate such.” www.punchng.com/politics/stop-lying-for-jonathan-apc-tells-okupe/ |
They frequent Aso Rock in special vigil prayer sessions; and there they “prophe-lie” that God “wants” Jonathan to be in power forever. Pathetic peripatetic pastors hopping on hired private jets to Jerusalem today, Rome tomorrow with all expenses paid by our government from funds that should build roads and hospitals for Nigerians who are dying daily unnecessarily. There is a particular pastor who attempted to scare all of us that any Muslim presidential candidate is a terrorist who wants to turn Nigeria into Turkey and Afghanistan. He instils a bugaboo via horrible videos of beheadings into our young people that a particular political party is about to turn every one of us into Talibans. And he knows he is wrong, and he also knows we know he is hungry. Every church he goes preaching his hate messages, fat envelopes in priestly offerings and honorarium follow. And he shamefully does this on a choreographed Bible-study curriculum of fear, deception and lies. When the baton of power changes, these same characters will immediately begin charting another course for themselves to initiate a romance with the government in power. These are the characters around this President who won’t tell him the true state of our union. No single Nigerian president in this democracy has the power to do what this pastor has been blabbing about. If it couldn’t be done during the military regime where power was in an exclusive concentration in one junta, it cannot be done now. In the present Nigerian arrangement, will either a Muslim or Christian monopolise the Presidency and political power? Never! As long as Nigeria remains intact as one nation indivisible, leadership assignments will be shared and rotated between men and women who hold different religious beliefs. No one religion will have a controlling monopoly on leadership in our country because we are not homogenous in belief. Those who are praying to God that a Muslim or Christian candidate rules forever in Nigeria are just daydreaming. The average Nigerian on the street doesn’t care what God you serve. Religion is not the factor for many, relief from these hard times is. And this President is having a hard time bringing that about. Nigerians are sick-and-tired of being sick-and-tired of these hard times. That’s why clamours for some kind of change are hitting a crescendo. We want a president who will not design thieving conduits to enrich a few rapacious Nigerians and their foreign collaborators; we want a president who is not afraid to confront Boko Haram and its cohorts not scurry from them, and we want a president who will not lead from behind. This is the wind that is blowing across Nigeria today. www.punchng.com/opinion/one-president-many-sycophants/ |
There are many of us who have a clear understanding of the enormity of the burden of leadership. Leading a family, church, business or a community has its biting effect on whoever has been chosen to lead. In a convolution like Nigeria, leadership is more challenging because there are too many holes and vacuums to fill, and too many complex problems to solve. Aeschylus was the ancient Greek playwright who made this statement: “It is an easy thing for one whose foot is on the outside of calamity to give advice and to rebuke the sufferer.” President Goodluck Jonathan has his whole body immersed in the turbulence of presiding over a behemoth intricacy like Nigeria. I feel his pain and frustration. The President may or may not know this; around his throne are many liars and deceivers laying in wait daily at the gate. Around him are those chanting only songs that are pleasant and sweet in his ears. Gluttons are in charge of the treasury and gerrymandering geeks are trusted confidants of this commander, and as a result, the terrain of leadership becomes tougher and more treacherous to navigate. But alarmingly by choice, the President is salivating for more time in the turbulent whirlwind of government he does not seem to have a savvy cue about. I wish him all the good luck. Jonathan has been called many names by his many admirers. They have called him the “best president ever” in the history of Nigeria; they have called him Mandela, Obama, and Martin Luther King. To some, he is a combination of Awolowo, Sardauna and Azikiwe. A friend of mine from Anambra recently called him Ojukwu and Mbakwe put together in one Ebele. Doyin Okupe, presidential spokesman, this week likened him to Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God who came to bear our burdens. From all these grandiloquent adorning names given to him, the President has not publicly answered to any. He knows he is Goodluck Jonathan who has limitations. Addressing the United Nations’ diplomats in Addis Ababa, Monday, January 31, 2011, the President said these words: “If I’m voted into power, within the next four years, the issue of power will become a thing of the past. Four years is enough for anyone in power to make a significant improvement and if I can’t improve on power within this period, it then means I cannot do anything…” I was not surprised when the Federal Ministry of Power stated on its website that the energy sent out by the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry has dropped to 2,954.51 megawatts. Goodluck knows what Jonathan is able to do. But Mr. President has fallen into the hands of vultures whose menu is money in bails and batches. There is a video which has gone viral where the President emphatically said that he would only serve one term in office if elected. Reuben Abati, the President’s spokesman, among many other personalities, echoed the same sentiments on the video, and theNigerian Television Authorityreported it. Nobody pressured the President to make this statement; that was the real Otuoke-bred Jonathan whose words used to be his bond. But when he tasted the irresistible sweet pudding of power, and egged on by the surrounding sounds of sycophants, denial of the promise started pouring in like an abundance of rain. Jonathan should know that six years is good enough for any human being to be president of Nigeria, with or without shoes. He should know that whatever any president cannot achieve in six years, he cannot achieve in 10. But my President has fallen into the hands of powerful interests and cabal who know that their dinner table will be empty if a Jonathan is not in power. A former aviation minister and a boisterously-loud supporter of Jonathan’s re-election said this about the President just a few years ago: “If Goodluck Jonathan wants his fortunes and the fortunes of his party to change and if he wants peace to return to our shores, he simply has to do 12 things. Firstly, he has to resign as president forthwith and undertake to stay out of Nigerian politics for the next 10 years and confine himself to fishing in Otuoke”. He has said worse things about this President, but today, he is on a fishing expedition with him. These are the kinds of characters around the throne. Some liars around him are pastors who prophesy lies. Friends, many of these pastors are like fallen angels; if you fall into their hands, you have fallen flat and irredeemably finished forever. They are those who organise conferences and seminars all over the nation chanting; “Goodluck Jonathan, there is none like you”. Some of these disgusting pastors have attempted ministry-exploits abroad in times past but failed woefully and had no choice but to return to Nigeria and devise lies to make a living. They are taking advantage of our President, shoving the people’s money into their building projects and personal drive for filthy lucre. |
Of the 246,853 candidates who sat for the November/December 2014 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, only 72,522 candidates, representing 29.37 per cent, obtained credits in five subjects, including Mathematics and English Language. This puts the percentage of failed candidates at 70.63 per cent. However, the Head of the Nigeria National Office, the West African Examinations Council, Mr. Charles Eguridu, said there was an improvement when compared with last year’s 26.97 per cent (amounting to 80,135 candidates) who obtained five credits in five subjects, including Mathematics and English Language. Announcing the results in Lagos on Thursday, Eguridu said there was a marked reduction in examination malpractices. He attributed this to recent measures, including the introduction of biometric registration and customised mathematical sets with inbuilt calculators, taken to curb the scourge. Notwithstanding efforts made to curb examination frauds, Eguridu said WAEC withheld results of 28,817 candidates. He said the results which represented 11.67 of the number of candidates who wrote the examination, were withheld for “various cases of malpractices.” The cases, according to him, are being investigated with the reports of findings expected to be presented to the National Examination Committee for consideration. The examination agency had withheld 38,260 results, equivalent of 12.88 per cent of the total number of candidates who sat for the examination in 2013 for similar reasons. Short of the total figures are 5,691 candidates (about 2.3 per cent) whose results, Eguridu said, were still being processed for errors he blamed on the candidates and cyber café operators. He said, “Of the total number of candidates that sat for the examination, 75,313 candidates (30.5 per cent) obtained credits and above in six subjects; 110,346 candidates (44. 7 per cent) obtained credits and above in five. “In addition, 145,036 candidates, representing 58.75 per cent, obtained credits and above in four subjects while 177.177 candidates, representing 71.77 per cent, obtained credits and above in three subjects. A total of 205,090 candidates (83.08) obtained credits and above in two subjects,” he presented. The total number of candidates that sat for the examination this year is 61,364 short of the 308,217 candidates that wrote it last year – a decline of about 20 per cent. There was also a shortfall of “blind candidates” enrollment. The figure fell from 82 recorded the previous year to 48. And while 17 of the category of candidates obtained five credits in 2013, four achieved similar feat this year. www.punchng.com/news/70-of-candidates-fail-novdec-wassce/ |
With the choice of frontline lawyer-pastor Yemi Osinbajo as All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Gen. Muhammadu Buhari’s running mate, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chiefs have returned to the drawing board. The PDP and the Presidency are said to be jittery over the choice of the professor of Law and former Attorney-General and Commissioner for justice, Lagos State. The ruling party,The Nationlearnt last night, was building its campaign against the APC on the following pillars: •If the APC goes for a Moslem-Moslem ticket, it (the PDP) will brand the opposition party as insensitive to Nigeria’s glaring religious divides; and •A Southwest candidate will make it difficult for the PDP to win the zone’s sympathy. Now the APC has picked a son in-law of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who is revered even beyond the zone. Osinbajo’s “impeccable” personality has dismantled every plan to launch an attack on the person of the APC presidential running mate, it was said. The ruling PDP had plotted to latch on religious factor to win the sympathy of Nigerians during the campaign for 2015 presidency. There were strong indications yesterday that the PDP has returned to the drawing board on how to curtail the growing support base for APC. According to sources, PDP leaders were shocked that APC chose a running mate without rancour. It was learnt that PDP had expected a slip from APC in order to make a campaign gain from it. It was gathered that some “attack dogs” had already been positioned to launch vexatious propaganda against the opposition on its running mate. There have been consultations between the Presidency and the PDP leadership since Osinbajo was named. A top source said: “There was gloom in PDP on Wednesday, following the announcement of Osinbajo. The calculation was that APC will be plunged into a crisis on the choice of its running mate, but that was not the case. “The PDP had been looking for a slight mistake to brand APC a religious party after it could not sustain the bigot stigma on Gen. Buhari. “Some attack dogs were on standby to hit the APC. All the plans have now failed. Another source said: “By picking Osinbajo, the chances of PDP in the South-West have become slimmer because the party had wanted to take advantage of the political dynasty of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo to make an inroad into the region. “The Presidency had tried to accommodate the grand son of the late sage, Mr. Segun Awolowo by making him the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Export Promotion Council(NEPC). “But APC has also made the late Awolowo’s son-in-law as its vice-presidential candidate putting paid to any scheming by the PDP in the Southwest.” A third source said: “With the emergence of Osinbajo , the PDP has returned to the drawing board. “The ruling party is now left to base its campaign on issues than sentiments.” Contacted, the National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, said the party could not lose sleep over Osinbajo. Metuh, who spoke with our correspondent, said: “Who is Osinbajo? He was an ordinary commissioner and we have hundreds of commissioners in the country. The APC vice- presidential candidate is an unknown individual in politics. He is not a threat to PDP. “One thing I know is that if it comes to issues and performance we will win the 2015 presidential election but if it comes to throwing anarchy or chaos, the APC will have upper hand.” http://thenationonlineng.net/new/2015-election-panic-pdp-presidency-osinbajo/ |

SOME senior advocates yesterday hailed the choice of Prof Yemi Osinbajo as All Progressives Congress (APC) vice-presidential candidate. They said his choice has opened a new vista of hope for the country. Dr Joseph Nwobike, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who was Prof Osinbajo’s student at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), said the former Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice would bring his deep intellectualism to bear on governance. He said: “Prof Osinbajo will bring clarity of thoughts laced with deepness and moderation of consideration into the decision making process of the campaign team and government, if his team forms government next year. “But whether the foregoing will be translated into any form of electoral capital will become clearer as we gravitate towards the general elections next year. “As my former teacher, I cannot but wish him all the best.” Professor of Law, Itsay Sagay described the choice of Prof. Osinbajo as a good one. He said his combination with that of Buhari would help to straighten the country. Sagay said with his adoption, “the country has a lot to look forward to with the combination of Buhari and Osinbajo. Sagay said: “One can begin to hope that Nigeria is finally going to start climbing up towards its former glory again.” “He is a completely honest and upright man. “Osinbajo is a well-known personality and was Attorney-General of Lagos State for eight years. “So, in my view, Prof. Osinbajo is a fit and proper person to be vice president of Nigeria and an excellent running mate for Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. “This is because he is a man who has achieved so much in social and political life of Nigeria. “He was attorney-general of Lagos State for eight years and won more cases than any other person or any other state against the Federal Government in the struggle to establish the autonomy of Lagos and to establish true federalism in this country. “He is a man of upright integrity and is flawless in his ethics, in his reactions, in his character. Not only that, he is also a religious man, who has maintained a flock for God over a period of time. “So, when you look at him from all sides, I regard him as a first-class candidate for the position he is vieing for and when you consider all these qualities with that of Buhari, the upright, anti-corruption, discipline, straight forward man who is going to straighten out this country.” Erudite lawyer, Felix Fagbohungbe, (SAN), also hailed the adoption of Prof. Osinbajo, saying that he was more than qualified for the position. Fagbohungbe said Osinbajo will be an asset, not to Buhari alone, but to all Nigerians. He expressed the conviction that Osinbajo would have a lot of electoral value that would enhance the chance of his party in the next election. Fagbohuingbe said: ”He is highly qualified for the position. Apart from being an intellectual, his profile as former attorney-general of Lagos State is rich enough and is a testimony of his ability to merit that position. “As attorney-general, he performed wonders. He was an excellent person, matured and understands the terrain very well. “He may not be a partisan politician but understands politics more than the politicians.” Also yesterday, a federal lawmaker represnting the Ikeja Federal Constituency, Abiodun Faleke, said the choice of the former commissioner will be appreciated by Nigerians. Faleke said: “Osinbajo is a strong personality. He is simple but very purposeful and he is a loyal party man.” thenationonlineng.net/new/lawyers-hail-osinbajos-choice-running-mate/ |
Former Minister of State for Defence Musiliu Obanikoro has accused a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Chief Olabode George and the winner of the party’s governorship primary, Jimi Agbaje, of manipulating the election to favour Agbaje. Obanikoro, in an affidavit in a suit contesting the election, alleged that George and Agabje deliberately disrupted proceedings at the election venue, using thugs and state security officers to achieve their aim. Obanikoro is seeking, among others, the nullification of the election on the grounds that it violated the party’s electoral guidelines, including the production of result in excess of accredited voters. Defendants are the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). “Sometime at 11am, Chief Bode George and Jimi Agbaje, a co-contestant, arrived at the venue with armed thugs, who kept a menacing vigil at the gate. “Sometime at 1pm, George, a chieftain of the first defendant, returned to the venue of the election with armed mobile policemen and armed officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) where his wife is the chairman, making the atmosphere charged. “The thugs earlier brought by George and Agbaje, at this point, began to disrupt the venue by throwing bottles, stones and firing gun shots in the direction of the delegates loyal to me and preventing other delegates loyal to me from entering the venue. “The gun shots attracted another detachment of policemen, who engaged the thugs in a gun and tear gas battle, during which many of the delegates loyal to me ran to avoid being caught in the crossfire. “Many of the delegates, who fled in the ensuing violence and gun battle never returned and were consequently disenfranchised as it took the police several hours to restore some semblance of normalcy. “The police recovered five guns and rounds of ammunitions and live cartridges from the thugs brought by George and Agbaje. Thereafter, the delegates loyal to and brought by George and Agbaje started arriving the venue of the election and accreditation which ought to have started since 8am started at 6.30 pm “At this late hour, having noticed that many of my delegates had run for their dear lives, many non-party members, miscreants and unaccredited persons were allowed by the state Electoral Panel to be used to replace the delegates loyal to me. “The above notwithstanding, the remaining delegates loyal to me were openly threatened with physical injury not to vote for me. Even the voting papers given to my delegates were later snatched from them and the name of my opponent, Agbaje forcefully written on their papers in the presence of the electoral officers manning the election,” he said He argued that but for the manipulation by George and Agbaje, he would have won the election. Justice Ahmed Mohammed, after listening to Obanikoro’s lawyer, Chris Uche, argue his motionex-partefor interim injunctions, refused to grant the applicant’s prayers. Justice Mohammed, who adjourned till December 23, directed the two defendants to appear in court on the next adjourned date. |
Nigerians got some bad news yesterday – more taxes are coming. It is all to shore up the shortfall, Minister for Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said yesterday. “We’ve tried to broaden the tax-base,” the minister told reporters shortly after laying the budget before the House of Representatives. She said the Federal Government had also “closed many loopholes and leakages”. The Minister, who also laid the budget proposal before senators, added that the economy would be driven mainly by the non-oil sector, considering the global oil price slide. “We’ve speeded up audit, we’ve closed some exemptions all of these will bring additional revenues into the coffers,” she said. The 2015-2017 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) presented to the National Assembly shows that Federal Government’s net revenue projection from non-oil sector is N2.075 trillion after costs and deductions for 2015. Net oil revenue was put at N3.955 trillion after costs, deductions and derivation. The minister, who led six other ministers to the National Assembly, said in spite of the oil price slide, the Federal Government would ensure regular payment of pensions, salaries and wages to its workers. While giving an outlook on the 2015 budget proposal, she said: “I’ve laid the budget on behalf of His Excellency, Mr President. This budget is based on few indicators, the $65 a barrel benchmark and we are going to stick to it for now inspite of the declining prices because we feel the average price next year will be around $65 to $70. The production level is 2.27 million barrel per day. “The revised growth rate based on the new parameters for the country, down from 6.35 to 5.5 per cent next year, that is still one of the fastest growth rate we are experiencing in the world today. We have a budget expenditure of about N4.3 trillion, revenue of N3.6 trillion, we’ve tried to make up for the drop from $78 per barrel to $65 by raising non-oil revenues. This budget points to the fact that this country is a non-oil country and I think we want Nigerians to start to think of the country that way. “So we have worked very hard to move on non-oil revenues, so we’ve closed many loopholes and leakages; we’ve tried to broaden the tax-base, we’ve speeded up audit; we’ve closed some exemptions; all of these will bring additional revenues into the coffers. “We’ve also worked on the expenditures. On the expenditure side, in the short term, we are going to look at the administrative expenditure; equipment we will not be able to buy next year, travels and trainings will only be inside the country just on exceptional bases if someone is paying for you, you will be able to go out or if it is a critical government directive to go out. “It is not going to be easy on the short term to do so much because we want to make sure that people get their salaries and wages and pensions are paid. We don’t want to make any adjustments on the part of our pensioners and workers but in the longer term, we will now be able to look at how to restructure governance.” Many lawmakers, including Minority Leader Femi Gbajabiamila, said the budget was only laid without details attached. According to Gbajabiamila, “no member of the National Assembly has a copy of the budget at the moment, so no one can say he or she is going to comment on it”. Deputy Leader Leo Ogor said the most important issue was that the budget had been laid and all other things were in the hands of the National Assembly. The Finance Minister later broke the budget down at another forum with Finance reporters. On specific measures to increase non-oil revenues to boost the treasury, she said: “A 10 per cent import surcharge would be imposed on new private jets, which is estimated to yield about N3.7 billion in 2015; 39 per cent import surcharge on luxury yachts, which is estimated to potentially raise N1.6 billion in 2015; and 5 per cent import surcharge on luxury cars which is estimated to yield about N2.6 billion of additional revenues.” Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala added: “There will be a surcharge on Business and First Class Tickets on Airlines. There will be no surcharge on economy tickets. There is also an imposition of 3 per cent luxury surcharge on champagnes, wines and spirits to generate about N2.3 billion in 2015; and a 1 per cent FCT Mansion Tax on residential properties with value of N300 million and above which should yield additional N360 million.” The budget has an aggregate revenue target of N3.602 trillion made up of: oil revenue of N1.918 trillion and non-oil revenues of N1.684 trillion (implying a ratio of 53 per cent oil revenues to 47 per cent non-oil) to fund an Aggregate Budget Expenditure of N4.358 trillion proposed for 2015 Budget, which is about 8 per cent less than the 2014 Appropriation. thenationonlineng.net/new/running-mate-chosen-buhari/ |
Yemi Osinbajo, frontline teacher, preacher, lawyer and administrator, is All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Gen. Muhammadu Buhari’s running mate, it was announced yesterday. Osinbajo, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and former attorney general and commissioner for Justice in Lagos, emerged through a meticulous process, Gen. Buhari said in Abuja, adding that he picked a man of unimpeachable integrity to assist him in rescuing Nigeria. Also yesterday, APC National Leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu spoke of his being offered the job, which he declined in the interest of the party and as a patriot. Gen. Buhari, who spoke while presenting Osinbajo to Nigerians at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja, described his running mate as a friend of the less-privileged. He said: “The challenging process of rescuing our country and changing Nigeria for good has commenced. One of the first decisions that I have to make is the choice of the vice-presidential candidate and my running mate. “The method employed in this choice was quite meticulous but yet rigorous. It involved the establishment of objective criteria, broad consultations with party leaders and a few opinion leaders outside the party and interactions with a number of nominees.” Clad in blueBabanriga, the former Head of State listed the outstanding qualities that endeared him to Osinbajo. He added: “To assist me in this great task of securing Nigeria’s future, I have chosen a man of unimpeachable integrity, an excellent professional, a man of faith, a devoted family man and a role model to our fellow countrymen and women. He is a professor of law and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. “An alumnus of the University of Lagos and the London School of Economics, he is a prodigious author who has to his credit several books on civil procedure in Nigerian superior courts. “The vice-presidential candidate is a friend of the less privileged, compassionate and zealous in service. A man of uncommon humility, a loyal, dependable and selfless patriot. “Ladies and gentlemen, I present Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, who by the grace of God and the vote of Nigerians will be the next vice-president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” The small crowd of party chiefs clapped excitedly as Gen. Buhari raised Osinbajo’s hand. Gen. Buhari praised Nigerians for their goodwill since he emerged as the presidential candidate of APC. He added: “I wish to thank all Nigerians and friends of Nigeria who have continued to send messages of goodwill and congratulations to me and the party since my election as the presidential flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress(APC). “The huge outpouring of support and acceptance has been a great encouragement to me and hardened my resolve to lead the process of rebuilding a New Nigeria and securing our future. “In my acceptance speech, I pledged to run an efficient government, fight corruption and indiscipline in our national life. I promised to end the current regime of fear and uncertainty in our country and place priority on national security. “I also pledged to rebuild our battered economy and reduce poverty by deliberate policies to create jobs. Osinbajo, all smiles, was calm as he responded to Gen. Buhari’s speech. He wore his trademark black suit, a white shirt and a red tie. He said: “I am deeply honoured and grateful to have been nominated as the vice-presidential candidate of our party, APC and especially the presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari. “I also thank the leaders and elders of our great party, APC for the trust reposed in me. “The task of rebuilding this nation is one to which I am fully committed. There can be no other president, leader and commander that can lead that common sense revolution Nigeria urgently needs than General Muhammadu Buhari. I will proudly serve this country with him. “General Buhari’s uprightness and fierce commitment to good governance is well known. It will be a privilege to work with him. “I come to this assignment with lots of hope and a resolve to be a part of this movement to bring Nigeria back to its lost glory. With the support of all Nigerians and the help of God, we shall make Nigeria work again. “I will work with him and the party to restore hope and confidence in millions of our youths and provide comfort and security for millions of our country men and women.” The unveiling of Osinbajo was done at the jam-packed conference hall of the APC with many stalwarts of the party in attendance.... thenationonlineng.net/new/running-mate-chosen-buhari/ |

Ever since i have been looking at job section or job advert pertaining to oil and multinational company on this forum i have never seen a position meant for HND holders. All i always see is GRADUATE TRAINING. Does it mean HND holders are not GRADUATES too? I want your views on this in a constructive manner though!! |

All Progressives Cong-ress, APC presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari is in a dilemma over the choice of a running mate for the forthcoming presidential contest. Buhari’s dilemma was said to have been accentuated by the rise in his ratings after the largely successful convention which has raised the prospects of a possible APC led Federal Government thus attracting many more interests into the choice of a running mate. Basking in the euphoria of a largely successful nomination convention, party elders, hours after the convention Thursday night, went into a meeting in an undisclosed location in Victoria Island, Lagos with the issue top on the agenda. Buhari, it was learnt, was at the meeting but no conclusion was arrived at. Many interests, Saturday Vanguard learned, had emerged to stake a claim for the position or the right to propose the vice-presidential candidate. Among them are a national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who had a principal role in swinging victory towards Buhari at the convention ground. The Tinubu camp is seriously being challenged by the camp of the governors who are insisting on pushing one of their own or determining who gets the job. Meetings were held yesterday in Lagos by party stakeholders who remained in Lagos after the convention to project their interests on the issue. General Muhammadu Buhari A meeting of major stakeholders has been scheduled for today in Abuja still on the issue. An APC governor who spoke on the issue yesterday said the decision would have to reflect geopolitical considerations in line with the resolution of the party that party tickets at all levels should reflect ethno-religious balancing. It was learned that the earlier assumption that the choice of a running mate be restricted to the Southwest was seriously being re-examined with the South-South now being considered. Among the persons under consideration from the Southwest were Senator Olurunnimbe Mamora, former commissioner of justice in Lagos State, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and former Governor Kayode Fayemi. Governor Babatunde Fashola who is a popular choice among many stakeholders, is however, challenged by a resolution of the party on ethno-religious balancing of the party ticket. Stakeholders pushing for the Southwest are saying that a candidate from the region would galvanise the people of the region to fully come out in support of the party during the election. That argument is also said to be re-energizing the prospect of Governor Fashola with some saying that the Southwest is unmindful of religion in the determination of political office holders. Governors Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State were the two persons being mentioned by stakeholders, multiple sources said yesterday. The projection it was learned was based on the idea of giving their South-South region reason not to see that they have totally lost out in voting out their son, President Goodluck Jonathan who is the candidate of the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP. Faced with the conflicting desires, the party was at the weekend still said to be undecided on the choice of a running mate and sources said a choice may not be made until the middle of next week. www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/buhari-dilemma-running-mate/ |
NOLLYWOOD actress, Ini Edo, has maintained a low profile ever since her marriage crashed, with many alleging she is the cause of the breakup. Reports have it that the actress, who attended the Golden Icons African Movie Awards (GIAMA), which held in Houston, Texas, United States, last month, practically avoided the red carpet. She was also said to be in low spirit throughout the exciting show. Edo, responding to rumours of infidelity as reason for her crashed marriage said, “I have always been a one-man lady.” She said she is “usually at a loss” when she reads stories about her sexual relationships. “It is really astonishing when people just manufacture stories, give them legs and let them fly when they know the stories are absolutely false.” The thespian who was recently voted as Nollywood’s Sexiest Actress noted that it is legitimate for men to have designs and desires on stars, but that does not translate to falling for every man that makes advances. “I was raised well by my parents and I have always been a one-man lady. All the sexual shenanigans that the media have associated me with are all false. The problem with our journalists is that, if they saw you at a coffee shop with a man just any man even if that man is your cousin or brother, they will automatically assume that is your new lover, and without asking questions, will rush to publish that you were seen at a coffee shop with a new lover.” She said she has lost count of the number of such innocent outings with family members or friends that the media has misconstrued. “What the media failed to understand was that I had not allowed stardom and celebrity to becloud my values. What they did not realise was that I wanted to be married, and start a family, and that the notion that I was some kind of a sexually crazy and hormone raging young woman, was totally false. “Did I have friends in the past? Of course, just like any other young and single woman out there, I had friends. Did that make me an out-of-control sexual goddess? Absolutely not! It has been very painful for me each time I read all the stories written about me, stuffs that are patently false. I have, however, come to accept it as part of the price you pay for stardom. I just wished they could do a little investigation before rushing to publish. “One story that pained me a lot is the notion that I snatched Philips from his ex-wife Ruth Okoro while she was recuperating from cancer treatment. Nothing could be further from the truth. The ex-wife said I was callous and mean-spirited to have done so. Initially, I had wanted to ignore what she said about me, but I would like to use this medium to state that I did not take Philips from Ruth Okoro”. http://thenationonlineng.net/new/ini-edo-opens-crashed-marriage/ |
