Ojukwu and Gowon were but young men, they turned the war into a battle of egos. Still being neutral and doing nothing doesn't really require as much effort as taking sides and taking up arms, I'd have thought.

Even in recent times, the Hausas are less vocal than Yorubas are about their role in the war.
I'm just stating one of the major reasons there is bad blood between bith groups.

The key word in my post was "neutrality". The major issue Igbos have with Yorubaa is that they took sides.
When two of your friends fight, you are to either mediate between them or extract yourself from the situation.
