thank you for your responds. Have you heard of Superplasticsizer admixture for concrete?

Obviously I know of some admixtures for concrete to help increase strength and hastens curing process too. I have seen some used during pile foundation as well as suspended slabs works on adverse weather condition and raining seasons as the case maybe.

BQ Roofing sheet installation

My question is why did you use 9inches block inside the building instead of 6inches, here in Europe the pillars are more fatter the steel rod of the pillars are always six not four, they use Superplasticsizer admixture for concrete mix to make the casting pillar more stronger and last longer without cracks in future.

I work as civil engineer here in Europe, I can tell you that our houses we build are not strong, the gap of the stirrups u use is very wide, it suppose to be 5inch gap. But we’ll done, that God I have international experience to build my own house.

For ground floor works of Duplex, we use 9 inches. For upper floor we use 6 inches on interior not all though while the surrounding is 9 inches. 9 inches Blocks support piping especially where you have 4 inches waste pipes for plumbing, those can't fit as conduit at 6 inches hollow.

To your second point about stirrups. There is no law that states that colum reinforcement has to be 6 or 4 or 8. Colums are designed structurally to achieve a specific purpose in a building. If you go through some other bigger projects that we have done, you will find some Colums of 6Y16... I have seen some abroad build that used 4 or 6 Y12mm for colum but very close stirrups (Rings) at 125mm spacing. What you have to understand is that in Nigeria, so many factors affects our build here unlike abroad. Not saying that what is done here wrong, but rather we apply our build here based on the materials available in Nigeria and not oversees.

Materials strength and components in Nigeria varies. 16mm here in Nigeria has TMT, tiger, local LCI and so many others. Their bar diameter varies as well as their strength. Adversely, like I mentioned before, we build according to our terrain and market. Our building are strong should a client be willing to go by the books of which many don't, so we use our experience to deploy means of achieving a sustainable and efficient build at the end as an end product of our construction.

I may not advise completely to use the same methods abroad here unless you are ready to spend exactly the same way they do there then we can be glad to do that equally for you since you want to replicate exactly what is done there. Example abroad, some builds don't use brickwalls but partition and Insulation walls for partition, their have their reasons and components with respect to durability and weather over there.

Alot to be said, but I have to stop here while I would be willing if you share more building ideas you have while I respond with more facts on how we work here and ways we can do better in the future.
