I have a dell vostro 1510 which i got through this forum.however, each time the laptop comes up,the display is tainted with some vertical lines all over the screen.I initally tthought it was a bad lcd but an engineer is suspecting a bad RAM. could the experts advise on what to do.

The second problem is that the battery of the Dell Vostro 1510 core 2 Duo hardly lasts for 40 minutes, Is this a design problem with this brand of laptop or that the battery of this fairly used one is bad?

I had thesame problem with my dell vostro 1400 and had to call dell despite being out of warranty and they sent their engineer to my office and changed the motherboard. I think they had some dodgy Nvidia GPU installed on some model which yours is inclusive.
