Matthew briggs: I have been there on several occasions(short trips to visit relation for Vacation) I don't need 2years to change my mind. Africa and Nigeria especially is where my heart lies. We are still saying the same thing. Going frequently doesn't show you anything, you need a prolong stay and semi integration to see if you'll still uphold your values. |

Matthew briggs: Kai, looking at some of the post by Nigerians in diaspora I am not surprised.
Nigeria is a work in progress, it's either you choose to be a driver of this progress or run for shelter in the comfortable life the diaspora presents.
As for me I intend to be among those who will redefine her future. My personal motto as a young Nigerian is "never seek the easyway out, do the hardwork".
One of my key life's work is to make her a force to be reckoned with in the committee of nations in all ramifications. I once told my parents, if having a nice car, living in the best house, with a beautiful wife, lovely kids, and a well paying job is my purpose in life I better die.
I will be leaving soon for the US, but have no intention of building a life there, am just going there to build my knowledge base, get exposure and form relationships that will help me on my life's mission.
Nigeria needs me, I will pay the price to build a nation where the next generation will be proud off. I will not seek the easy way out by running off to another nation, whose parent's have already built in blood and sweat.
I know I'll face big challenges down the line, but by his grace I'll scale through
Nigeria is a work in progress, my work in progress.
As for the diasporans who never intend to come back, trust me you will not be missed. bros, get here first and if your story doesn't change after 2 years, I'll say you are serious about your mission. |

playmode: Provide 24 hours electricity and ADSL internet and i assure that me and my network of 400 Nigerians as well as 189 South African businessmen will relocate to Nigeria. Our business revolves around fast internet, the current GSM internet won't do not to mention having to run generators. It is just not cost effective for me and my friends to run our business in Nigeria under the current circumstances. seriously they dont need to provide ADSL cos there's no reliable and resilient backbone like BT in the UK. They can't provide fibre optics either cos the cos would be too dear for average users. However, they can tap opportunites via Municipal wifi whereby the metro is turned into a wireless access zone. Everyone would get a good internet speed but I can't vouch for saboteurs. I see here everyday, guys talking about cheats to access glo free of charge. Naija peeps need re-orientation and some cleansing. And, not to forget about power supply. |
