Oh come off it! A 9 year old is a child in any era of human existence. You should know this but when you are desperately seeking to defend an error, you commit more errors. A 9 year old is a child. PERIOD! Your religion will not change that. Even if you claim that the practice was a culture in that time, a prophet should seek to reform it and introduce better morals. Truth is that your religion is something else. No wonder Iranian youths are leaving it in largr numbers AbimbolaGCFR: 1 Like |

This right here is the issue. There are people who do not give a thought to CONSEQUENCES! It is all about making immediate cash for them regardless of whom their venture harms or destroys. There has been a lot of warning from censored scientists about the dangers of GMO to the human health. It poisons the DNA! The people pushing for GMO acceptability know this. Hence the cleverness of paying greedy people who are more than willing to betray their own people for money. If you have the means, please own a small garden on your plot of land. Make an allowance where you can at least grow some of the food you eat. This has been the practice since the history of mankind. At some point we have allowed corporations with sinister motives to occupy that sphere. I do not see drought as a drastic problem. Irrigation is a thing! If you are willing, you can avoid GMO completely. SeriouslySense: 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Religion / Frequently Asked Questions By Atheists (FAQA) by deolumike(m): 7:48am On Jan 07, 2023 |
The FAQA 1. You’re a scientist and you believe in God and Jesus Christ? Yes. You can read the story of how I converted from atheism to Christianity here. 2. Were you really an atheist? Yes. I’m often told that I wasn’t really an atheist, because I became Christian. This is how people without a solid foundation cope with someone who has rejected similar beliefs. I’m not saying only atheists do this. People of all beliefs, including Christians, do this, because the existence of apostates makes those with tenuous beliefs feel uncomfortable. Nevertheless, the truth is that I rejected atheism after being raised atheist by ex-Catholic socialist atheist parents in a secular country (Canada). Later, when my father embraced libertarian principles, he introduced me and my brother to Objectivism — an explicitly atheist philosophy — which formed the basis of my worldview for many years. My brother and I both went on to reject atheism and convert to Christianity while getting our science doctorates. My mother, who died several years ago, had gradually drifted back to belief. My father began to shed his atheism with the death of his own father, and after a long, deliberate, and agonizing process, he finally became Christian in 2017. For years before that, he was mystified as to how he managed to produce two Christian children. 3. Are you a young earth creationist? No. Given the multiple lines of evidence, I believe the universe and the Earth are billions of years old. 4. What is your repeatable, scientific evidence for God? What is your repeatable, scientific evidence for your objective existence as a human being? Seriously. On what basis do you assert your own existence as a person reading these words as opposed to a brain in a vat hallucinating all of this as “real”? When you figure out why I’m asking this, you’ll know why #4 is not a legitimate question. 5. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Astronomer Carl Sagan popularized this statement decades ago. Atheists like to repeat it in reference to the supernatural, because it sounds right. However, there are two major problems with it. 1. It’s a statement about believability, not about proof. You realize this when you see how people try to defend ECREE. I had a fellow explain it to me this way. “Tell me you have a red car,” he said, “and I’ll believe it without question. Tell me you have a flying red car, and I’m going to need to see it.” People who believe ECREE are really talking about their own personal baseline for believability. It has little to nothing to do with establishing the truth of a claim. If we need to establish the truth that you have a red car — say, for a court case, where demonstrating that you own a red car may be crucial for determining someone’s guilt or innocence — you’re going to need to produce the same evidence as for the flying red car. You wouldn’t respond to a request for proof from the judge with, “Well, your Honor, the claim that I own a red car is ordinary, so you should just believe it.” You’d produce the document proving it. Probably an official, verified government document stating that you own the car in question. The amusing thing is, if someone produced such a document for the ownership of a flying red car, most of you would probably consider that “extraordinary,” despite the fact that it’s of the exact same nature as the proof of ownership for the ordinary red car. And, the question would be unequivocally settled in either case by simply showing the judge the car. This is why I like to distinguish between casual belief and actual belief. If someone, whom I have no reason to mistrust, tells me he has a red car, and it doesn’t really matter whether the claim is true or not, I’ll probably casually believe it. If it matters for some reason, then I wouldn’t — I’d need proof before I would actually believe him. I guarantee it’s the same for you. 2. How do you determine what’s ordinary and what’s extraordinary? Extraordinary means “out of the ordinary.” So, what makes a claim “ordinary”? If we define ordinary as normal, usual, or commonplace, then that’s a problem. Even if we accept the illogic of Sagan’s statement, it works against the atheist saying ECREE. Why? Because the vast majority of people who have ever lived and who are currently living claim the supernatural exists. Therefore, by definition, this is an ordinary claim, and whoever is saying the supernatural doesn’t exist is the one making an extraordinary claim. 6. So, why do you believe in God? I came to believe in God mostly through my work in science. I was convinced by: 1. The teleological argument. The universe seemed to me far too logical and intelligible to be the product of a random cause. (Twenty demerits to anyone who falsely claims this is an argument from incredulity.) 2. The Kalam Cosmological Argument (KCA) combined with a logical inference that the cause of the universe must be personal led me to belief in the Abrahamic God. The KCA goes like this: That which begins to exist has a cause. The universe began to exist. Therefore the universe has a cause. I was also convinced by: 3. Objective morality and justice. God is the most philosophically satisfying basis for morality and justice in the world. None of this proves God exists, but it is a rational basis for belief in God. These arguments are why I gave up on atheism and accepted the existence of God. If this evidence doesn’t convince you of God’s existence, that’s okay. If you’d like to talk about the details, that’s fine. But if you think these arguments don’t count as evidence for God, I’m sorry to say that you and I have nothing to discuss. If after reading this you still insist there’s no evidence for God, please just google cat pictures or something, and don’t waste your time or mine by contacting me. 7. There’s no evidence for God. See #6. There are other compelling evidences for God, including: The fine-tuning argument Life / consciousness Near-death experiences The ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ 8. Why the God of the Bible and not some other god? See #6 and #7. The KCA + personal cause ruled out most everything except for the God of the Abrahamic religions — Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. So, I picked up a Bible and started reading. After spending a couple of years investigating the claims of the OT, I continued to the NT and spent another year investigating its claims. I found Lee Strobel’s book, The Case for Christ, helpful in this process. When the NT held up to scrutiny, I realized I had no choice but to accept it as true. I didn’t realize at the time that the KCA + personal cause also included Zoroastrianism and Sikhism. Zoroastrianism is an ancient and relatively obscure religion of Iran. Sikhism is a young religion (15th century) from the Punjab region of India, and is the ninth largest religion in the world. Both are intriguingly similar to Christianity in some ways, but differ significantly in others. Had I known that these two religions also hold to a transcendent, immaterial, and timeless God, it would have changed nothing in terms of my trajectory towards Christianity. I was persuaded that Christianity is not only supported by evidence and reason, but that it is the best explanation for evil in the world. That has not changed. 9. So, if you believe the universe and Earth are billions of years old, do you think Genesis is figurative? I hesitate to use the words literal and figurative in this context, because they miss so much. Genesis, for all it simplicity of prose, is actually quite nuanced, layered, and complex. Nevertheless, I think Genesis is ultimately telling us a straightforward narrative about God’s creation and development of the universe, meaning God did these things or caused them to happen, and they were done in the order described by Genesis. 10. How do you square a ‘straightforward’ Genesis with a universe that’s billions of years old? Read Chapters 3 and 4 of Gerald Schroeder’s The Science of God or go through my slide show here. 11. Do you write scientific papers about God’s involvement in the universe? No. As far as my scientific work goes, I agree with Laplace, who famously said “I have no need of that hypothesis.” (It doesn’t mean what you think it means.) I don’t need to invoke God to explain why black holes and galaxies behave the way they do. I invoke physical laws to do that. This is not to be confused with the origin of those laws and the universe described by them, which is a different matter. 12. Everyone is born an atheist … babies are atheists until they’re indoctrinated. I never understood why this is supposed to be a compelling argument, even when I was an atheist. First, we have no idea what babies believe until they can tell us. But we do know they’re illiterate and incontinent little savages until they’re indoctrinated to read, use a toilet, and treat other people with respect. Just because something is natural doesn’t mean it’s good. If hard indoctrination was really required to force people out of their natural atheism, most people on earth would be atheist, and atheists in secular countries would never produce religious children. But consider how easy it is for most people to overcome their “innate” atheism. More than 90% of the world’s population believes in the supernatural, even though it supposedly doesn’t exist. The prevalence of religious belief is such a problem for people who use this argument that they’ve had to come up with peculiar evolutionary tics to explain it away. The law of parsimony applies here. 13. Religion is a product of where you were born, your family, etc. Many, if not most (meaning > 50%) people adopt the dominant belief system of their family, community, university, or society. So what? That number certainly includes all atheists, who adopt atheism because of where they were born, where they went to university, and the communities they live in — it’s why I was an atheist for most of my life. 14. We’re all atheists, I just believe in one less god than you. The rest of the quote goes, “When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you’ll understand why I dismiss yours.” The first part is a nonsense statement. It’s like telling a computer programmer that there’s no difference between 1s and 0s, it’s just that 0 is 1 less than 1. As atheists frequently point out, there’s a world of difference between theism and atheism. The second part of the statement shows a failure to understand the nature of God vs. gods. God is held by those of the Abrahamic religions to be the creator of the universe. He is therefore the creator of all things. If God exists, he must necessarily be outside of his own creation, which means he is outside of space, time, and material existence. God is therefore by definition transcendent, timeless, and immaterial. To my knowledge, the only religions that believe in a transcendent, timeless, and immaterial God are the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), their offshoots (e.g. the Bahá’í Faith), Zoroastrianism, and Sikhism. All other religions hold to very different deities, none of which are creators. You can read through the various pagan mythologies to see that they invariably skirt the issue of the creation of the universe and deal instead with the establishment of the divinity of earthly rulers or the creation of a new world, land, or empire. Such is the case with the Mesopotamian and Egyptian creation myths that predate the writings of Moses, as well as others like the Greek, Roman, and Viking myths. For more discussion: The Uniqueness of Genesis Which god is the Creator? God vs the gods 15. Which of the thousands of gods do you believe in and why? This might surprise you, but the answer is: most of them. I strongly suspect that many of the pagan gods actually exist in some form, as lesser divine beings created by God. See the work of Old Testament scholar, Michael Heiser, to understand why. And see #14 to know why I only worship and obey the God of the Bible. 16. Atheism is just a lack of belief. There are only two possibilities: God exists; God doesn’t exist. If you reject the former, you implicitly accept the latter. Some people aren’t sure and lean towards disbelief. They’re more appropriately referred to as agnostics. However, if “atheist” is in your profile bio, if you make it part of your identity, if you lurk on Twitter looking for religious hashtags and categories, it’s not just a lack of belief for you. You’re not fooling anyone by claiming otherwise. 17. Atheism isn’t a positive position. Whoever makes the claim that something exists has the burden of proof. See #16. If you say “God doesn’t exist,” you’re still making a positive statement. Don’t confuse positive statements with affirmative statements. “Positive” (philosophy) and “affirmative” (grammar) are not the same thing. “God doesn’t exist” is not an affirmative statement, but it is a positive one. If you make this statement, then the burden of proof is on you. Or is it? Have you actually thought about the origin of the claim about who has the BOP? Who or what dictates with whom the BOP lies? See here for a compelling discussion on why, in dialectical matters, the burden of proof lies with no one. Resource: https://sixdayscience.com/about-us/faqs/faqa/

Religion / The Gospel Since The Beginning Of Time.. by deolumike(m): 7:11pm On Sep 26, 2022 |
The gospel existed as far back as the beginning in the old testament, in Genesis when God promised Adam and Eve that the seed of the woman would smash the head of the serpent. And to Abraham, that through him would come a Blessing to the entire world. And to Moses when God instructed him to tell the Israelites that another Prophet like him would God raise for them and they should listen to Him And to David, when God promised him that he would raise him an heir who would sit on his throne forever And to Mary, when angel Gabriel visited her and announced to her that she would bear the Son of God. Until John identified Him in the river Jordan and announced Him to the world as the Lamb of God who would take away the sin of the world as promised by God in Genesis. The Kingdom of God is come. Repent, believe in the gospel and be saved 1 Like

Religion / Remember Lot's Wife by deolumike(m): 4:54pm On Sep 13, 2022 |
Remember Lot’s wife,” said Jesus. That is probably the most dramatic, potent illustration the Master ever used in a sermon. As we read the context, it is very obvious that the words were being applied to those living on this planet right now. “In that day” refers to the “day when the Son of man is revealed.” Here is what Jesus actually said: “Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; But the, same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. Remember Lot’s wife.” Luke 17:28-32. What did Jesus mean by that cryptic expression “Remember Lot’s wife”? What does that woman of long ago have to do with people who are watching the closeout of history? Why did the Master relate Mrs. Lot to our day? Jesus used her as a fearful warning. That woman became cold, careless, and disobedient. Finally the judgments of God fell upon her, and she became a pillar of salt on the plains of Sodom. I gather that one of the most deadly perils for God’s people in the last days will be to slowly slip away from the truth as Mrs. Lot did. Jesus warned that the loss of spiritual power takes place almost imperceptibly: “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” Matthew 24:12. As pressures of conformity and compromise crowd in, the faith gradually erodes and disappears. I confess to you that this is the pastor’s most perplexing problem today. Perhaps a newly baptized family in the church is bubbling with that wonderful first-love experience. They are willing to go anywhere and do anything for the Lord. Their contagious enthusiasm is a joy to behold. But soon the pastor notices that the ardor is beginning to wane a little bit, and the family is no longer excited about their faith. They slowly begin to withdraw from participation and even attendance at church. The pastor visits the family and tries to uncover the problem. To his surprise, he discovers that they still believe as much as ever, but they have lost their love for the truth. How can we explain this slacking of spiritual power? How does the devil steal the very heart out of the Christian experience? One thing is certain: it does not happen suddenly or overnight. People lose their love for the truth by degrees. Little by little they lower the standards and compromise the faith, until nothing remains except a dead, empty formalism. After reading all that Jesus said about those who are saved, we see one grand absolute truth standing out clearly. There will be no divided heart in heaven. There will be no half surrender on the part of the redeemed. Those who enter God’s kingdom will be there because they wanted eternal life more than anything else in the whole world. The Lord Jesus used Lot’s wife as an example of those in the last days who will not be single-minded for the truth; who will love material things more than the things of God. Christ said, “So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:33. Do you remember the story in the Bible about the businessman who went searching for the most priceless gem in the world? At last he located it and learned that it was for sale. But the price was outrageous! In order to buy that pearl he would have to sell his home, his business, and use every penny of his lifelong savings. But mark this: The man’s desire for that pearl was so deep and compelling that he did not argue about the cost. He did not consider waiting until he could better afford the purchase. Nor did he attempt to bargain for a lower price. Immediately and eagerly he hurried away, sold everything he had, and brought the money back to buy the gem from the owners. The pearl, of course, represents eternal life, and those who desire it must be prepared to invest everything they have in order to obtain it. Lot’s Good Intentions But let’s come back to the story of Lot’s wife and try to understand what Jesus wants us to learn from her example. According to the Bible record, she belonged to one of the finest families in the East. As the nephew of Abraham, Lot shared the tremendous faith of his uncle and prayed at Abraham’s altar. When God’s call came to get out of Mesopotamia, Lot went right along with Abraham, not knowing where the call might lead. Together they brought their families to the entering place of the Promised Land and offered their sacrifices of thanksgiving. Then dissension erupted between the herdsmen of the two wealthy kinsmen. Their vast combined flocks and herds didn’t have enough room to graze in such a restricted area, and they had to separate. Lot was given the choice of direction as the whole land stretched out before him. On one side lay the verdant hills with their lofty trees; the other led down into the crowded centers of commerce and trade. The materialistic appeal of the prosperous cities had an immediate impact on Lot, and the Bible records very simply that he “pitched his tent toward Sodom.” Genesis 13:12. The predictable pattern of future tragedy was settled by that early decision to move near those wicked cities. Lot stands forth as a man of good intentions. Quite obviously he did not actually plan to take his family into the urban environment of sinful Sodom. He would only live in the vicinity, where he could take advantage of the economic opportunities of such a bustling trade capital. Very likely he made special mental reservations about letting his family mingle with the degraded inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah. In fact, he had no idea at all of giving up his religion. His move was prompted by selfish concern over temporal advantages, and he had no intention of losing anything. But what happened in spite of all the wonderful intentions? Poor Lot lost his wife, his possessions, and almost his own life. Good intentions were not good enough. He moved closer and closer to the cities until finally he actually moved in to dwell with the Sodomites. His plans to guard the spiritual interests of his children failed to materialize. All his rationalization about counteracting the wickedness with stricter prayer schedules and family-altar religion just didn’t seem to work out as planned. He gradually compromised with the environment and watched his children slowly assimilate the ways of their heathen neighbors. I’m sure Lot did not feel at ease when he first settled among the evil citizens of that abominable place. Every day he heard news of the mushrooming crime rate. He must have been repulsed and even horrified by the vile jokes and obscene language. Then he had to watch with alarm the growing fascination of his family for the perverted lifestyle of their friends and associates. Finally, his daughters fell in love with worldly men and married them. Outside of the home, united with the enemies of God, they lost all faith in the ancestral religion of their childhood and youth. They began to look upon Lot as narrow and bigoted and soon expressed their extreme loathing of his half-hearted appeals to establish true worship in their homes. Nevertheless, we still tend to sympathize with Lot in his frustrated attempts to hold the reins on his unregenerate wife and children. He had much against him, but most of it had been created by his own weakness and indecision. One compromise led to another, until finally he must have become totally demoralized over the rebellion of his worldly family. Mrs. Lot’s Response to Sodom Still, it was an act of flagrant presumption when Lot actually settled within the city. The society there was shameless, degenerate, and entirely sex-perverted. Mrs. Lot not only moved into Sodom, but Sodom moved into her. She was the type who loved fine things, and the mad whirl of social activities fascinated her from the beginning. She was soon caught up in the excitement of party rounds of pleasure, and the evidence seems to indicate that she eventually shared much of the materialistic mind-set of the Sodomites. Can we analyze the cause of such a shocking turnabout? How could it happen to the wife of Abraham’s relative? Was it, perhaps, because no one was praying for her in that provocative situation? No, indeed. Abraham was presenting his prayers and sacrifices night and morning for his nephew’s family. Was it because no warnings were given concerning the spiritual dangers? We cannot believe that those angel messengers left them without full information concerning the snares of Sodom. Then what brought terrible soul–ruin to this woman? Was it because she disbelieved the call of God to get out? No. She did not mock the message as did her married daughters and their husbands. She believed the warning and actually started on her way to safety. But mark this – there was no eagerness in her heart and no enthusiasm for the program. She was so reluctant to leave the fine appointments of her affluent Sodom home that she lingered. Her heart and life had been so bound to material things that she could hardly pull away from the accumulated treasures of those finely furnished rooms. With death at her heels, she lingered. With life and security awaiting her on the mountaintop, she lingered. What was wrong with the woman? She loved the world more than she loved God. She still believed the truth; she knew what she ought to do; she wanted to be saved–yet she lingered. We still find many people exactly like Mrs. Lot. They also believe the truth, know what they ought to do, and want to be saved. They linger, too, just as she did. Like Lot’s wife, many of them wait until the pull of the world overpowers the will to act, and they are not able to let go of “things.” Why will people linger over the call of God? Have you ever done it? Millions have lingered until the best years of their life are gone. They linger until their children grow up and are lost in the world. They linger until the world holds them with bands of steel and the voice of God dimly fades away. But at last Mrs. Lot began to move. The record describes how angels had to take hold of their hands to hurry them out of the doomed city. The angels cried, “Escape for thy life; look not behind thee.” Genesis 19:17. But Lot’s wife did not reach the safety of the mountains. Why? The Bible tells us that she “looked back,” and immediately she was turned into a pillar of salt. Why did God deal with her so severely? Was it not the smallest offense of all just to move the head slightly? The Word of God has a name for that type of action: sin. She disobeyed the commandment of the Lord, and her judgment underlines the urgency of obedience. God means what He says. There is no excuse for sin, and God cannot overlook it. God’s Ultimatum to Lot What did God think about the namby-pamby way Lot had neutralized his influence in Sodom? You know the story of how those angels visited Abraham and then Lot, telling him that God had tolerated their fence-straddling long enough. They had reached the limits of their double life, so God faced them with an ultimatum: get out or get in! “This is it!” God said. “You can’t be neutral any longer. Choose right now what you will do. Come all the way out, or stay there and perish.” What a fantastic confrontation: a final call, a last-minute chance to slip from death to life! Does it sound familiar? If it doesn’t, you had better look around again and see what’s happening to the world. The same fiery fate which loomed over Sodom has been decreed for this wicked age as well. Jesus pointed to the parallel conditions between the two periods of history. After describing the excesses and indulgences of Lot’s day, Jesus said, “Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.” Luke 17:30.

rusher14:are you high? Something that is happening in many universities. You know of this story because he had to tell his students. When the strike is called off and schools resume, you'd count how many lecturers you have left. |

1stGenAmerican:No. You will not call black white and then zoom off. You seem to be a person who delights in evil and deceit. It will harm you in the long run regardless of whatever short-term benefits you derive.. And if it's your conscience that pricks because you're in a similar situation, do right by that man and let him know the truth. Cos, that's the only thing that will set you free ... The patriarchs used to say: "The conscience is an open wound, only the truth can heal it" 1 Like 1 Share |

1stGenAmerican:what proof do you have that he didn't Stick to the story. Don't add or subtract... That guy wants to see his child and he has the right to. I may agree, he can't take her from her mother but even the law gives him a right to visit. You can't deny him that just because he is a fraudster. The mother is exactly that too! Building a whole marriage and home on deceit!! That doesn't seem to bother you. The husband doesn't deserve the truth?? You prefer a comforting lie... 1 Like |

Talmabout "not breaking a happy home" A home built on deceit?? OP had a job and he messed it up by contacting the lady. A PI would never do that.. he got paid for it yet he messed it all up 1 Like |

You speculate too much for a story that was clearly told! What if? What if? What if? Ahn ahn! You sha want to justify paternity fraud by hook or crook.. do you have a similar case?? The woman in question should expect recompense someday. Her husband doesn't deserve to know that the girl isn't his biological child? You don't make the decision whether her real father should find her or not because he is wayward... His child is his child. You can't change nature. He wants to see his child and he has a right to! The moral in this is that you can't eat your cake and have it. The law of cause and effect is a thing. If anything happens, the deceptive woman should get the blame. The whole marriage is built on falsehood. 1stGenAmerican: 2 Likes |
