look. I don't understand your angst about Fashola appearing 100 times before the NAss. As long as there are issues to be cleared, he needs to appear.

again, I reiterate, as the political head of the Ministry, one of his CORE functions is dealing with the political fallouts of what happens in the ministry which is why ministers are expendable.

if it was just about taking decisions, I would feel that a professional would have been made minister of such a dynamic & technical ministry, not a lawyer.

its the same way the president takes the brunt of criticism for his/her adminstration even when such a leader might not be conversant with the dynamics of some of his ministries...
I think the best thing to do is to just permanently park the minister at the NAS with his own room, bed and office so they can ask him all the questions they desire anytime any day, this way, he can not go back to his official duties.

He is answerable to even the house of reps, if not for Buhari's lawlessness, which Ali exploited, he would not dare took to the senators the way he did.I am just mad at the senators for being too selfish with their allowances and putting Nigerians through grievous peril for six months when Buhari ran to the UK to blow unmentioned billions of naira to cure his ailment, they should have impeached his clueless arse back then
[/s]

He is not answerable to the senate beyond oversight functions on the senate floor, the only person he's answerable to is the executive as a staff and member of the executive/President, a separate arm of government.

The senate can not do anything to Mr Ali, they can not punish him, they can not sack him because he doesn't function or answer to them, only the president can discipline of fire him. This is what they call separation of powers, something you and your kind did not learn in elementary school and still won't learn for your own good.

Mr Ali was hired by the executive and he is a representative of the executive arm of government/The President. He is not answerable to Dino or any of the clowns in the senate apart from the usual senate floor oversight hearings.

Read up on that first.

Bros you got it wrong. Customs is a civil service, they serve the people. Melaye and Co are representatives of the people. The customs boss should have received them well. Dino is right. just that the President's relationship with the former military customs boss is nepotic.
What is the difference? They both serve Nigerians and Nigerians pay their salaries.

Apart from oversight functions, the customs boss own the clown senator nothing, the president is his boss and he functions at the pleasure of the executive/president, not the legislature.

Not true, you are pulling stuff out of your ass.

Ali’s Boss is the President, In Nigeria just like in the USA, the President will not fire any of his heads of department because of an encounter with a Senator or a Senate committee.

Those two arms of government sees themselves as co-equal; Dino was foolishly trying to elevate the Senate above the Executive branch of government and any President will applaud any of his/her head of department who put such arrogant Senator(s) in their place and remands them that, they are co-equal.

What institution are you talking about?

Is there any law or stipulation in the act that created the Nigerian customs or the Senate that heads of any institution must welcome anybody?

What was he doing at the customs HQ in the first place? Oversight means inviting the customs boss and customs officials to the Senate for oversight question and answer session, not to go and challenge the customs Boss in his own HQ where he calls the shot.

Dino was just another visitor to the customs HQ.

Even sef, was he there to be greeted by the customs boss or to actually carry out whatever official duty he claimed he went there to perform?

The clown intentionally went there to pick a fight and the customs Boss put him in his place with a cold serving of akamu.

Somebody got to put these worthless do nothing egotistic clowns in their place.

My response was in line with the topic of discussion, not Metro rail in Lagos so inserting metro rail into the conversation was a deliberate diversion and dodging tactics on your part.

Even with your Metro rail abandonment dodging move, Metro rail in Lagos was not abandoned, it was canceled by PMB and he gave reasons for canceling the project and it's irrelevant if you agree with him or not. Lagos state moved on to better things.

Either way, you still have zero points and the fact that you still can not list the projects commissioned in the SE by 16 years of PDP and Jona apart from your repainted river niger landing strip is you helping me prove my point.

“I was on that road, this year, as I returned to Lagos; it’s in a very terrible state, with craters everywhere. Umunya in Anambra to Mile 9 used to be a journey of less than one hour. Now, we spend more than two hours. Ugwuoba used to be a major stop for truckers. This boosted business transaction in that area. Today, the truckers prefer to take the narrower old Enugu-Onitsha road. All the markets along that expressway have become deserted due to lack of patronage,” said Enugu indigene, Ikem Okuhu.

Umumba, a community is Enugu State, used to be famous for its fresh palm wine; it enjoyed patronage from travellers. But with the terrible state of the road, the community’s economy is no longer at ease. “If you go to Umumba, before Mile 9, people coming from Lagos, who have taste for Igbo palm wine, usually stopped there to buy the delicacy and other foodstuffs. They are completely out of business, now, because, vehicles no longer follow that route.”

Okuhu blamed Igbo political leaders for the fate of the highway. He said: “I don’t think the Federal Government would deliberately not want to construct a road of such relevance. Rather, I think it’s a result of weakness on the part of Igbo leaders, to make a case for the project. Most people, who represent us at the National Assembly or at the federal level, don’t talk about the problems we have here. If people understood the economic viability of that road, you wouldn’t need to remind a senator or a minister to put pressure on government to fix it.”

Lagos is at the moment building and better Metro rail with 10 lane freeway, plus BRT access, first in Africa and the largest public work project in Africa.

Sometimes I ask, what does the Igbo man want?

1. Position in government, and he knows himself and embezzles the whole money and never develop his town.

2. Development, contracts wud be awarded and the kings of that community wud be fighting to take the whole contracts himself and eat the whole monies.

3. Do one road for them, one person wud stand selfishly to talk on behalf of the rest without consulting.

4. The real money for the constructed road may have accommodated street lights, the Igbo man wud do some and leave the rest and run to Lagos or abuja and live.

The Igbo youths should come to understand themselves and say, we want our places developed , even if the tribalistic government does not want to show his presence in our area what ever we get, we need full value.

Now people would be forced to come home and build industries themselves and they wud be self development that could and would draw people from near and far.

But the Igbo man wud leave his area or her area to our area to develop and make a lot of noise...whyhuh
Very well said.

....but you wrongly assumed that they want progress and development, they don't.

They are naturally self-destructive and they care less if their leaders develop their SE village or not, all they care about is hatred, bitterness, anger and self-destructive behavior.

When was the last time any of their governors commissioned anything and are they even bothered? They don't but let them commission something in Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Kaduna or Kano and watch them show us with their hatred, anger, bitterness and bad bele.

How do you as a sensible and rational human being end up with nothing after committing your votes and 16 years of support and still be happy and willing to support and vote for the same people all over again?

Obviously, their issue is deeper, sad and very gloomy.

When the community raises their kids with hatred, bigotry, bitterness, tribalism and us against them mentality, the result is what you see in the average ibo youths.

This is all tey know, this is the only social and communal skills they have to interact with.

Every few months, the elders in the SE used to run to Abuja to collect brown envelopes from GEJ and never to demand any kind of action or attention regarding their roads, bridges and so on, even their elected leaders in the Senate and NASS looked the other way in favor own their own pockets, mansions in Lagos and Abuja.

Bottom line, if you do for them, they will hate you, abuse you and label your efforts propaganda, but if you don't lift a finger or do anything for them, they will like and praise you.
