A twitter user shared a touching story of how him and his friends lost a presidential scholarship.

"I WEEP FOR MY COUNTRY":
'' In 2014, I and several other Nigerian University graduates had been shortlisted to write the Presidential Special Scholarship (PRESSID) designed exclusively for First Class Nigerian graduates who wanted to pursue both Masters and PhD in any top 25
Universities in the world. President Goodluck Jonathan had set the scheme up and the idea was to build a strong team of brilliant Nigerians who will coyme back to serve the country years later.

There were a little above one thousand of us who wrote the exam at CHAMS, Abuja.

At the time, I was already lecturing in UNN so most of my friends (who were also my colleagues) enrolled. 16 of us in total. It was a computer-based test so we knew our fate instantly. I had scored 94% in the exam. In fact, 15 of us from UNN scored between 80 and 97%. Man!

We came out of the exam hall completely joyous. We were so sure we had got the scholarship. And we were right. Sometime in February 2015, the list of 101 successful candidates was shortlisted in the National Dailies. Fifteen of us were on that list. I had applied to Princeton
University, Imperial College London and University of Toronto already. That phase of our lives was glorious.
Fast forward to March 2015, Goodluck lost the elections to Mr. Buhari. That was where things started to take a new turn. Shortly after Mr Buhari was sworn in,

he had recalled the list and complained that there was no single northerner on it. He believed it was an agenda of the South. Right before our eyes, meritocracy was shortchanged for Federal character. It was first like a joke, but we all lost that huge scholarship. It was worth

about $250,000 per person (tuition and living expenses inclusive across 5 years). Before then I had little faith in the country but when this happened, I became weary of the country.
Thankfully, later that year, I got a full scholarship from University of Toronto for my Masters
and PhD (6 years in total). Of those other 14 friends of mine, 13 of them have also moved since then - US, Canada, UK, New Zealand, Japan etc. Obviously we moved on but truth is, the life we have now was afforded to us by the Government of another country, many of which will

seduce you with permanent residency and citizenship afterwards.

Any nation that shortchanges merit for anything else will fall. Nigeria has the brightest people, yet, we are where we are (in Osibanjo's voice).

These people will corroborate my story as they were also winners

of the PRESSID scholarship: Odoeze Jideofor Okagu Ogadimma Olikagu Sylvia Chisom Hyacinth Ali David Chukwuma Izuogu Samuel Olisa Chima Eke and others.

The country Nigeria is always underrated when it comes to capacity and capability.

However there have been cases of epidemics that Nigeria has proven to be capable of surpressing.

Take the case of Ebola, the world was Marveled when Nigeria squashed the disease in less than 3 months, even before the US could get rid of it. All thanks to the unbelievable quick response from smart alert medical teams.

But for charitable organization or NGO a .org it should be.

All .com are not taken, you can still get reasonable names even perfect names, it all depends on your clients budget.

There are people who do not even engage in domain outbound and still do as much as 10-20k USD per month in sales and domain is capital intensive to get to that level where you control as much as 1000-5000 domains.

And there is nothing like passive income. It does not exist! work work work work till you die.. if there was, billionaires in US dollars would have stopped working but they know this. You can only reduce the amount of work you do through leverages because sustaining wealth is harder than making money, but you do not stop working.

Yes, developing domains into websites enhances its value but thinking you will stop working after setting up the website is just a pipe dream. The owner of NaijaLoaded for instance does crazy numbers but he works hard every year to command those figures, EVEN yesterday, he mentioned he pays as much as 1.5M monthly to staff, he pays 2M monthly for server and some other miscellaneous.

Anyway, to each his own. I just wanted to correct the notion that domain does not pay again because that is what drew me, even when you can see the other domain thread getting sales. There are guys who doe even $2k per month in that thread. Are you aware that a lot of domains go unreported? I also have not even shared my domain sales for over 2 years now. Teaching and doing all these information marketing stuff is not really my thing, which is why this thread hasn't gotten much action.

I prefer being out there making the money than doing tutorials plus I have 3 businesses or start up right now that I am overseeing. One in education, one in power and the other in ecom.. The one in power took me over a year off domaining because of the challenges. You think you are an entrepreneur? Build one from scratch, you think you are brave, test your might offline. I love challenges and the past few years has made me respect all those Nigerians who built their businesses offline without depending on internet but by pure unadulterated grit and zeal.. plus i do not want to sacrifice my eyes from light rays from PC (this one of the reason I started adjusting)

The affiliate marketing you are talking about comes with its own bottleneck. Google can change algorithm and your site will stop ranking. My friend whose business model is dependent on flipping affiliate sites can share his woes and sorrows with you. Driving paid traffic to affiliate offers is capital intensive. Some affiliate offers do not allow incentives or paid traffic and so on. You probably thought I do not know these things, didn't you?
