Lexusgs430: The application is FREE and it usually gets a response within 2/3 weeks ........
You simply fill in all details has required. If the sponsor has been married previously, a decree absolute, must also be included.
If sponsor includes NA in the income section, how is the sponsor hoping to fulfil the income prerequisite? The prior finance section refers to the applicant and then there’s a subsection for the sponsor too (finance and all) |

Lexusgs430: What do you need to know about EEA Family Permit route? 1. How to fill the employment, income & sponsor details section: According to gov.uk, proving the EEA National is a “qualified” person and the relationship to the EEA National genuinely exists are prime. So I need to know if N/A or a “not applicable” in the aforementioned section of the form with regards to finances would do. The form actually has a very straightforward PDF but it is for North Koreans ONLY, the online form is an utter contrast. 2. Is it free of charge as stated on the site or would there be a fee for, say IHS? 3. How long it is processed? |

Hi everyone, I am currently in the federal marriage registry Abuja, they are insisting in collecting money for the “clearance” that doesn’t exist.... Is the marriage certificate from AMAC recognized by the UK embassy? |
Travel › Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by derbylicious: 11:27am On Aug 28, 2018 |
Veacon: I did all that, searched for a link, called a high ranking friend who works with security personnel in Nigeria and he said he doubts any such thing exists.
From my experience when i went for the enquiry, This security Clearance info won't be explained to you by the junior officers who originally attend to you, after explaining others criteria, they would take you to the Registrar/Deputy registrar who then breaks it down to you and goes further to tell you how almost impossible it is to get the clearance as witnessed by others and how they have decided to simplify things for intending couples by introducing the N100k waiver.
So please tell me, which higher authority is there to go to?...the whole process is just sickening. Like I advised, if you can get tru to DSS for the clearance, please by all means do! You’ve really been helpful with information. I highly appreciate it. So are the points outlined by @oxygyne with regards to the registry marriage paths correct?? |
Travel › Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by derbylicious: 11:18am On Aug 28, 2018 |
I really pray the 7 days notice is as you stated, if it is then that is exactly what I’d go for.
I only asked about the special marriage license because it is made to seem as the only option(as described online) for a union between a foreign national and a Nigerian.
[quote author=oxygyne post=70681493]@veacon Thanks for shedding more light on this issue, now others will know what to do when they face this challenge in the future. From your messages I can deduce the following:
1. Special License Marriage - which can be obtained within 24hrs costing about 62k and requires a 100k DSS waiver (not recommended) 2. 7-days notice period Registry Marriage - which does not require DSS waiver and can be used when one member of the couple has a foreign credential. 3. 21-days notice period Registry Marriage - which does not require DSS waiver and can only be used if both parties have Nigerian credentials. 4. Caveat - I believe this information is for Abuja Registry right, so might not be the same for Lagos.
Please correct me on the information above if I am wrong, thank you. |

oxygyne: Oh really, that is very shady. But what is the alternative? What is the actual way to get the DSS? Is it a long thing? If not why not just go through the proper channel. I’m currently searching for link to a DSS official, if the security clearance is actually done, I doubt it would cost what the registry is unrealistically asking for. Alternatively, as @Lexusgs430 stated, a higher ranked employee in the said registry can induce a slash. Smdh! |

oxygyne: On the DSS fee, I have no idea why it is N100k but if a check needs to be done then payment might need to be made. I believe this is more like a security check and they will need to be paid for the service. The only issue is the high amount, I guess you should just make sure you get a receipt for the payment.
I don't understand your point about the citizenship, your partner is not Nigerian? Like British-Nigerian? I understand that such checks attracts a fee, just like DBS does in UK but not such an exorbitant one! My partner is an EU citizen. |
Travel › Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by derbylicious: 9:13am On Aug 28, 2018 |
oxygyne: From previous posts on this topic, my understanding is that the DSS waiver fee is only applicable where one party of the couple wants to get married using his/her foreign credentials. So it is advised that if the foreign party has dual-citizenship and holds a Nigerian Passport, it might be best to get married using the Nigerian Credentials. This does not in anyway affect your spousal visa application as long as the marriage and the certificate issued are genuine (of cause we all know it also depends on other aspects of the application).
I will let people like @justwise and @lexusgs430 explain better. Thanks for your message (lol! I almost wrote email). However, my partner hasn’t dual citizenship. Why can’t they run the security background check without having to force intending couples to pay 100k As you stated in your response to veacon, these extortions that override the right path only makes the certificate highly questionable! I just don’t get it....schemes to extort every time! |

Veacon: I'm currently about to have mine in Abuja, so had to go make enquiries. The process is quite different from what I read about the ikoyi registry.
For the special marriage license, you need the Intl data page of your intended spouse who stays abroad, visa page ( if applicable), his / her passport photograph, his /her birth certificate or declaration of age cert, your passport photograph, your birth cert, your local govt ID, affidavit of being single from high court for you both ( they talk you into getting that done for you @N2000 each), marriage cost is N62050 (because you can have everything done same day without the 21 or 7 days notice), a sum if N100000 for security clearance (DSS) waiver.
Wedding days are Tue, Thur, and Sat.
Hope this helps! Thank you so much! But wth@DSS waiver 100k This is ridiculous! |

dudu200: My people please I need your assistance on this! I am about to commit to buy a toyotal Avalon 2002 nsija used for 1.1m . this is my first car. I will be asking s mechanic to inspect it for me tommorow and make payment if certify okay. Please I need ur suggestion and advice on it. The money is a loan to be paid with interest. Thank u. I own a 2000 Avalon xls, it's a very good car and I commute approximately 2hrs 3x/4x a week . I just love how quiet it is, it is underrated tbh! I fill up my tank every other week. Was worried that it's 17years old but it is very much strong! Make sure the mechanic is experienced specifically with Toyota cars, you'd be fine...go for a test drive and decide I test drove a Camry, corolla and Avalon and wholeheartedly knew the Avalon was for me despite the other two cars were later models |

bravolad: There will also be varied opinions when seeking public knowledge on a subject matter.
Among the lots, the Corolla has the least fuel consumption ratio because of the engine setup of 1.6l to 2.0l. The parts are also cheaper but with the recent fx scarcity has caused a geometric increase in parts generally albeit increase in demand for the Corolla locally, which ultimately pushes the price of spare parts & purchase to almost at par with the Camry. But in terms of fuel consumption, the Corolla achieves a better mpg but heavily dependent on your driving pattern, maintenance culture and keeping the car as close to the factory settings as possible. In addition, if you are single and don't move much luggage, the Corolla may be your choice.
The Camry is a much bigger car to the Corolla. So also is the maintenance. With a 2.4l engine, you spend a bit more on fueling but when traveling, you get compensated for space. There's also the 6cyl version of the Camry & I can safely assume you are not referring to that.
On the other hand, the Avalon comes only in 6cyl 3.0l engine. Better performance, drive experience and handling but you pay for it. Costlier to run among the others.
One interesting fact about them is they are all durable and reliable with the right maintenance and adherence to genuine spare parts or OEM. I personally believe that all cars will attract thieves if you are careless with them. Granted some are more attractive than others but hey! The nature of our society requires you stay within a comfort zone of spare parts availability, mechanic and some DIYs options when the need arises.
Finally, we can only make suggestions based on personal experiences but the onus of choice is strictly upon you. Whatever you want to buy, a vin report is absolutely essential to a happy motoring.
Good luck with your choice and remember to update us. After test driving the 3 cars, I chose the Avalon without a doubt and it has been good. Thank you so much for your detailed input and its gas economy is not as bad as assumed God bless! |

layifioren: First, is the Camry a 4 or 6 cylinder? If it is 6 cylinders, it has the same motor/engine as the Avalon and mechanically they are virtually the same. It's only in appearance that they really differ and their fuel consumption is similar.
Now, what year(s) are you looking at? The camry and corrolla are both 4 cylinders, the avalon is 6. The avalon is a 2000 model, the camry's 2005 and corrolla's 2003(CE) |

Hi everyone
I am torn between a corrolla, camry and an avalon.
Honestly, the avalon has all the features I desire but I am being a bit sceptical about its maintenance as I understand it is on the high side.
Now, opinions based on actual experiences are needed...which of the trio would be most suitable for driving on our "unique" kind of roads as this would be used to commute daily(45mins drive~one way, i.e 90mins to&fro)
Also base thy opinions on fuel economy and ease of maintenance...i'd be reading comments(the purchase is going to be ASAP so SOS please!!!) |
