Good Morning Elder state men/women in Canada.
I just got my passport stamped over here in Nigeria.
Travelling to Edmonton(Alberta) and I would like to inquire, what I am to bring over with me to Canada, to help me survive the weather over there and what is required for me to start doing immediately I enter Canada?
And most especially, what flight can I book to Edmonton from Nigeria.
Thanks

Congratulations. Just come with basic food items that’s allowed into Canada.

I’m not sure about Edmonton but I guess : SIN, Health card, Bank account, Library card, Drivers License, Employment resources, etc

A townhouse in Calgary typically refers to a residential property characterized by its shared walls with adjacent units, creating a row or cluster of homes. These homes are often two or more stories tall and are situated in a planned community or complex. Townhouses offer a balance between apartment-style living and detached homes, providing homeowners with a private space while sharing common amenities and maintenance responsibilities with their neighbors. They are a popular choice for those seeking a more affordable and low-maintenance housing option while enjoying the benefits of community living in Calgary.

A semi-duplex home in Calgary refers to a type of residential property that is typically divided into two separate living units, each with its own entrance and amenities. These units share a common wall or structure, which distinguishes them from completely detached single-family homes.

Semi-duplex homes are also commonly known as "duplexes" or "half-duplexes." Each unit usually includes its own living spaces, bedrooms, kitchen, and bathroom. They are often more affordable than detached single-family homes and can be a suitable option for individuals or families looking for a more cost-effective housing solution in Calgary.

A single-family home in Calgary refers to a standalone residential property designed to house one family or household. It is not attached to any other dwelling units, such as apartments or townhouses. These homes typically offer more privacy and space for residents compared to multi-family units. Single-family homes in Calgary come in various styles, sizes, and neighborhoods, catering to a range of preferences and budgets. They often feature a front and backyard, making them suitable for families, couples, or individuals seeking a more independent and spacious living arrangement in the city.

Can you pls enlight us on job availability there and skills one can acquire before coming over. Thanks for the good job

Oh yes!!! Job availability depends on your skills set. There are platforms you can search for jobs. Like indeed, LinkedIn or directly on the companies website.

If you’re looking for an IT job, you’d need to know what area you’re specializing or want to specialize, check the requirements posted and work to meet the skills

MrALIVE:
but can one get unskilled jobs that do not require this SIN number like factory jobs, loaders?

Okay, I’ll clarify.

Upon arrival into Canada as either a PR, a student or on spousal work permit, a Social Insurance Number (SIN) is issued to you. This is the number that identifies your legal stay in the country.

It is your identity. If stolen can cause a huge chaos. This number is issued to you by the government of Canada and any employer who would want to employ you need this information in order to put you into their system.

With this number, you can also file your tax return

Can one get a job with a visitor visa in Calgary?

Not 100% impossible but very highly unlikely. Canadian employers request for SIN( social insurance number) before employment.

Renting out a basement for 2000 dollars in Calgary where the average rent for main floor is between 1400 and 1900 is crazy. You know nobody who's already here for more than 6 months would rent that despite the very crazy rental market. You just want to take advantage of new immigrants because you know they are the only one who would rent that and I like the fact that you kuku just focus on them grin, forgetting that you were one

He no concern me sha to each his own

With the current interest rate? And furnished? Probably all inclusive? This is a great deal!!!

Do you know what utilities cost these days? The other day we paid $640 for gas, water and electricity - and it’s not winter yet. Last winter our enmax bill went up to $1050.

So before you comment about someone trying to rip people off, think again!!!

Check out how much property taxes are now.
Research current interest rates
Confirm rate of utilities

Then come back and apologize to poster.
