MrALIVE: but can one get unskilled jobs that do not require this SIN number like factory jobs, loaders? Okay, I’ll clarify. Upon arrival into Canada as either a PR, a student or on spousal work permit, a Social Insurance Number (SIN) is issued to you. This is the number that identifies your legal stay in the country. It is your identity. If stolen can cause a huge chaos. This number is issued to you by the government of Canada and any employer who would want to employ you need this information in order to put you into their system. With this number, you can also file your tax return |

MrALIVE: Can one get a job with a visitor visa in Calgary? Not 100% impossible but very highly unlikely. Canadian employers request for SIN( social insurance number) before employment. |

olalekan9320: Renting out a basement for 2000 dollars in Calgary where the average rent for main floor is between 1400 and 1900 is crazy. You know nobody who's already here for more than 6 months would rent that despite the very crazy rental market. You just want to take advantage of new immigrants because you know they are the only one who would rent that and I like the fact that you kuku just focus on them , forgetting that you were one
He no concern me sha to each his own With the current interest rate? And furnished? Probably all inclusive? This is a great deal!!! Do you know what utilities cost these days? The other day we paid $640 for gas, water and electricity - and it’s not winter yet. Last winter our enmax bill went up to $1050. So before you comment about someone trying to rip people off, think again!!! Check out how much property taxes are now. Research current interest rates Confirm rate of utilities Then come back and apologize to poster. SMH |

Joedave25: Hello gentlemen and ladies.
I submitted passports of my kids for stamping at Abuja office through UPS courier - separate forms and passport in smaller envelope, then enclosed in a bigger envelope (one way) and paid N20k plus for the service. when it was ready for collection, I duplicated what looked like an indemnity form they emailed me and paid same N20k plus for delivery of the 3 passports. The next day I was called by a lady who mentioned I need to pay separate fees for the 3 passports.
Please I want to know from those of us in the same category whether that’s the way it works now. It’s a family package(my kids).
Pls your feedback will me know how next to approach VFS Abuja on this. I have asked the lady to email me directing me to pay for separate courier fees for the 3 passports if that’s the way they work now.
Waiting for responses guys!!! @ just wise @justmellow and others I believe all 3 should be in the same envelope. |

Calgary is officially experiencing housing crises.
Calgary needs more homes. We have a plan. Calgary is experiencing a housing crisis. One in five Calgary households are unable to afford where they currently live. That’s 80,000 households who are spending more than 30% of their income on housing. Low vacancy rates, higher than normal rent increases, and escalating home prices are putting Calgary’s competitive advantage as one of the world’s most livable cities at risk. To ease the strain and support Calgary’s prosperity now and for future generations, we need more homes in all shapes and sizes in all neighbourhoods. We have a plan to do that. The City of Calgary’s Housing Strategy names specific actions we can take as a city to address the housing crisis and remove barriers to housing affordability and economic prosperity. It includes five outcomes; Increase housing supply Support affordable housing providers Support The City’s housing subsidiaries Ensure housing choices meet the needs of equity-deserving populations Meet the affordable housing needs of Indigenous people living in Calgary The strategy incorporates the 33 actions recommended by the Housing and Affordability Task Force and a handful of additional new actions in addition to 38 previously Council-approved actions for work that is already underway. These proposed actions will increase the supply of market and non-market housing, ensuring that there is a diverse range of options in all communities so all Calgarians can find a home that meets their needs. Calgarians have asked many questions about some of the proposed actions. There have been frequent questions about two specific actions, parking and rezoning. This document provides additional information around the parking and rezoning actions to consider. The City of Calgary’s Housing Strategy will be reviewed by members of Council at the Community Development Committee meeting on Sept 14. People living in Calgary can hear the strategy and have their say at that meeting. https://www.calgary.ca/social-services/low-income/task-force.html?redirect=/housingstrategy |

Nbv1: Canada released 2022 Study permit application refusal and approval statistics for Africans .
It’s a shame that South Africans and most other countries do not migrate like Nigerians. If the hardship in nigeria hasn’t become unbearable, it doesn’t really worth it coming to canada for many. It is tough out here cost of living is so high and difficult to get High paid jobs. Many are homeless and sleeping in shelter homes and going to food bank everyday.only If nigeria can become great again. Our past leaders should be ashamed of themselves . Why is India not on this list? |

Luchiee: Yes for now, if it’s for POF. Currently the Proof of funds required for a family of 4 is $25,546 cad. But I’ll advise you save in foreign currency because of devaluation of naira. Also, I hope your budget does not include the expenses you will incur in the process, like cost of ielts, credential evaluation, and other post ITA expenses? Exactly, because processing the evaluation for pharmacy alone via PEBC is something else. |

daks02: Hello everyone, So my sister gave birth recently in Edmonton, just want to share some brief details. I found a gynae for her before she landed, she got a referral from my family doctor, paid $120 for that. I called around and we shortlisted 2, the first one (a group of ob-gyn) was going to collect $3000 for delivery and $250/visit. The second has a fee breakdown for delivery and payment of $250/first visit and $120/subsequent visits so we chose him because the first didn’t really explain his fees. Well the doc she signed up with didn’t end up taking the delivery as he was away, so the ob on call did it. She paid $2200 for his fee, $500 for anaesthesia and total hospital( fee was $8800
There were also some other small fees but I can’t remember now. My advice is to research well, I was only able to get this information because I am a resident and I kept telling them that she’s my sister. Birth tourism isn’t very popular here You’re right. Enough research is required |
