onegentleguy: A very poor result from DANGOTE SUGAR !! With a quite visible drop accross all KEY revenue and earnings line !! REVENUE MARGIN, EBITDA MARGIN, GROSS MARGIN, NET MARGIN, PAT MARGIN, EPS, ROAE, ROAA, RoIC, ENTERPRISE VALUE, and EM all heading southwards !! In retrospect, the company witnessed a near 60% drop in profit following from an over 26% drop in revenue even with a slight improvement along their cost line (CoS, Opex margin) in the last 3 months. ...with the company earning just 34k per equity holding in Q3 as against 79k earned in the corresponding period of last yr. At 1st glance, it makes good sense to assume that the company is suffering from a high margin contraction at the back of some instability in growth. It's clear that the coy may well drift from its previous yr performance in 2018. Only a more than spectacular performance or perhaps a miracle can see them outperform/beat their 2017 earnings line. To put things in perspective, the company will need to earn/deliver at least N1.90 per equity in Q4 alone !!. ...which is about 35% more than it has earned in the entire 9 month period of 2018 (Q1, Q2 and Q3) to surpass their earnings feet of 2017. ...A very huge feet if u asked me !!
If I hold a stake here, I would prefer to sell at current market price and look to buy at a lower price later. ...unless of course my investment horizon is of the long term. Same can also be said of Dangote flour. But that's just me, so due diligence should still remain ur 1st priority.
CAVEAT: NOT A RECOMMENDATION !! Hmmmmm! AARRRRGH!

onegentleguy: A brief run down on AIICOs Q3 results;
The company saw a drop in their earnings line on the back of a below per performance. Management were'nt so efficient with translating their input (premium income line) to output (earnings line) To put things in perspective, a 13% rise in NPI (net premium income) following from a 16% rise in GPI was subdued by a higher than normal expense line (admin, opex, claims and underwriting exposure) ...which occasioned the 22% decease in PBT from approx 2.77B to 2.15B and feed into the drop in EPS to 25k from 34k in the corresponding period of last yr. The interpretation of this is that the last 3 months saw the company generate higher premium but paid more to policy holders at a faster rate than it did in utilizing those premiums with bringing income.
That said, the financial position of the coy still makes for a healthy one amidst some risk drivers. ...while the valuation still prints of a great margin to tap from. Using a TTM EPS of 31k (which AIICO may well surpass by YE) @ discount rate of 13% and adjusting for a risk premium of 2%, AIICOs Fair Price computes to N2.06 !! ...and which when weighed against the present market price of 72k, still captures the potential for an over 186% price appreciation !! This is adjusting for any and all possible inherent risk.
As expected, the market reacted slightly negatively to the result. But will I sell AIICO @ the current price if I hold a stake in it? ...Hell NO !! For that would be tantamount to throwing away a thing of immense value !! Will I KEY into it @ the present price? ...ABSOLUTELY. Especially if my investment horizon is of the medium term.
Disclosure: I hold some units of AIICO in my Investment portfolio. Disclaimer: Not to be perceived as any sought of recommendation. ...due diligence should still remain ur 1st priority. ..EMBER MONTHS are upon us.... May God preserve us. |

The behaviour of Diamond bank's share price is telling me that insiders wanted to make sure they disposes retail shareholders of their shares, then get an investor and make a killing.... Somehow, along the way, information got mismanaged. Retail investors wanted to be part of the mega party... The insiders are desperate to figure out a way to achieve the same goal... |
