Chidi Odinkalu, a former chairman of Nigeria's National Human Rights Commission, and other Nigerians have criticised Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, for attending a dinner hosted by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in her honour. Fraternisation between politicians and judges has raised eyebrows, particularly with regards to governors and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, giving judges lavish gifts like cars and houses to judges, sparking concerns about the potential for undue influence and conflicts of interest in the judiciary. Kudirat Kekere-Ekun became the Chief Justice of Nigeria on August 22, 2024. Her attendance at the dinner has raised eyebrows, with many questioning the ethics of accepting such hospitality. The criticism comes amidst a broader debate about the independence of the judiciary and the potential for undue influence by politicians. Odinkalu and others argue that such actions undermine the integrity of the judicial system. On Sunday, Governor Sanwo-Olu posted pictures from the event on his X account, saying, “During a dinner honoring Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, GCON, Chief Justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we celebrated her significant contributions as a proud daughter of Lagos and a pioneering figure in Nigeria's judiciary. In July, human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, asked the Supreme Court to restrain the Lagos governor, Sanwo-Olu, from imposing movement restrictions on Lagosians during the planned monthly environmental sanitation exercise. Adegboruwa is also seeking an order restraining the respondents from arresting and detaining him and other residents of Lagos State on the last Saturday or any other day of every month whatsoever, for the purpose of enforcing compliance with the environmental sanitation policy of Lagos State pending the hearing and final determination of the appeal pending before the Supreme Court. It raises eyebrows therefore, that the judge would be fraternising with a litigant with a pending case before her. https://saharareporters.com/2024/11/10/nigerian-chief-justice-kekere-ekun-faces-backlash-attending-lagos-governor-sanwo-olus

I can see some you are missing the point mrvitalis is making. I think it's more deliberate than plain confusion but let's go there. Imagine there is a school whose proprietor works as a teacher in the school. By organizations hierarchy, the proprietor may be on a lower salary scale than the school head, but that does not permit the mistake of saying the school head earns more than the proprietor when it is the revenue generated by the proprietor's establishment that pays the salary of everyone 🤣🤣 No disrespect to the Stats guys, but it is what it is. |
One day, we will get here. We came close to this feeling in 2023. We will keep going 💯

I hope this video is not what is used to pass judgement on the dogs? Anyone who owns dogs will know that those dogs don't look agitated, as expected from dogs that probably attacked 'someone' even 30 mins ago. They look very calm. |
Before opening the thread, you could already guess the political inclination of the poster. Any hunger that will allow people sell lies just to survive, God abeg. |
Does this mean that Nigeria's indebtedness has reduced drastically? Or we are just not interested in servicing our debts for now. The indices from Debt Management Office is still pathetic. |
The irony of this is the 'recent' outrage of some Northern persons over the detained minors. Those kids were detained up North there, not across Nigerian borders. Did they not know this since? So if they didn't make a public appearance, or if the recent electricity stunt didn't happen, they'd have just kept mute and left their kids incarcerated abi? |
An social media user, @boymanager0 shared how his cousin, Chinonso, bled to death after meeting with an accident on their way to the mall. The bike he was on was lucky to swerve past a taxi, but Chinonso was not so lucky as the taxi rammed into his, promptly breaking off his limb, and causing heavy bleeding. The OP shared a sample image to describe the nature of break his cousin had (see graphic images of the broken foot here: This is a live picture of chinonso's leg that I tried to explain with this x-ray.. 😭😭 😭😭https://x.com/boymanager0/status/1852596945564398034?t=Fwufa_XFGdcz-WD0_6X3wg&s=19) Chinonso was rushed to different hospitals but even after paying a sum of N418,000, the uncooperative nurses failed to render any meaningful help, citing the current strike by health workers (NARD, JOHESU, and AHPA). According to the OP, the available workers mostly just watched the deceased as he breathed his life away. Unfortunately, Chinonso, suffered pain and died as he did not get the required medical attention on time. @nard_nigeria k!led my Cousin 😭 😭 💔 💔 💔 💔https://x.com/boymanager0/status/1852339894045102267?t=egVOo1dQOuw4GfhTrmd6cw&s=19

Where is your location? Also, what is your qualification? |
It's up to Rivers State to take the law into their hands. Judges in Abuja can feel free to play around with Rivers simply because they have no stake in it. |
For all of all these IGR noise, do not lose sight of the following: 1. The domestic debt profile of the South West is almost 4 Times that of the South East. 2. The external debt profile of the South West is almost 8 Times that of the South East. 3. The total debt profile of the South West is 12 times worse than that of the South East. 4. The total debt stock of the South West is almost 7 quadrillion. And the lots of you dragging the South East are doing so because your region generates an IGR total of 1 trillion, a mere 0.02% of the total debt stock of the region. You better start asking the right questions of your leaders. |
You don't mean it? |
From the video posted, there are at least two charges facing the lawmaker: Assault and Battery. If he used any weapon, then add Aggravated Assault to the mix (up to 7 years imprisonment for grievous harm). It is for this reason that too much power must never be ascribed to an individual. There's your lawmaker, in full public glare. Let's see what comes out of this. |
It is clearly stated there that he is a Bolt driver, not a delivery guy. Last I checked, those folks don't go to knock on people's doors by default. Was he specially paid to come knock on that door, unlike other places? That being said, what now happens to the lawmaker who is facing at least two charges: assault and battery from what we can see on the video? Whatever happens is the Nigeria our leaders have created and we are seemingly accepting. It doesn't have to get to Very Dark Man. Fingers crossed. |
This guy is a problem. Most people would watch just to see the crap it is. But isn't that the point? To get people to watch? A crazy niche he currently occupies 😁😁. He knows he's crappy and makes a living off being crappy 😁😁 |
iLoveYouToo:I get it. You have no idea who they are. How then do you hold them to account? I put into you that AOES is non-existent. The source of this information should be queried 😎 You people need to think things through before copying and pasting. |
iLoveYouToo:The owner only got one mention. This news is about the ban on 'AEOS'. You can read the post again, starting from the headline, and all through the body if you didn't get it before. That aside, can you help us with the following information: 1. Any contact information of AEOS Engineering Services. 2. The CEO or a relevant person in the heirarchy of AEOS Engineering Services. Let's be sure you're actually in this because it is evil and someone is about to be held accountable, not because you saw Ebere Nwosu there😁😁 |
Ikaeniyan0:Be like dem use person brain for here carry Real Madrid & Ov 2.5 yesterday. Dem ban AEOS, person wey no suck breast complete begin mention his people. Nah Ebere Nwosu own 'AEOS' Instead wey person go ask who be this AEOS sef so dem go dey sure say dem enforce the ban, no way. Who be AEOS? Their address? Contact information? Nothing e know o. E just follow news wey im second copy and paste like headless chicken. I challenge all of Una for that cartel, to produce proof of existence of AOES Engineering Services. 😎 Define a mumu man again. |
Dr Aminu Maida, so up North, those tender female children taken in as wives are responsible enough to be bedmates, responsible enough to be mothers, but not responsible enough to be bonafide owners of SIM cards? You people are doing yourselves. |
We know those behind these news. Just read through the thread to understand 😎 |
Mynd44:Please assist with a copy of the Supreme Court judgement that ruled the ECA illegal. I missed that before, my bad. It's an arsenal to counter those political Alleluia boys now accusing Jonathan of rendering the ECA/SWF empty when records show it's their principals who brayed for sharing, and kept withdrawing and withdrawing till date. How can 37 people put money together then one starts spending at as though it is his personal piggy bank.By this line, do you accept that 37 people were a party to putting money together? If there was this agreement, where then is the ignorance of the existence of the ECA/SWF, which still exists until today and is still being used by ALL successive governments since its creation. |
Okoroawusa:Normally, it is sane to align with people of integrity and I absolutely do not mind lauding such persons whenever the opportunity arises. It is how it should be, not what is largely obtainable in Nigerian political landscape today where questionable humans accrue golden crowns and thrones by all means. Aru gbaa afo, o buru omenala. |
Mynd44:Quick question: Have you read the book, Fighting Corruption by Ngozi Okonjo Iweala? It is interesting to see you have already formed an opinion off it. But that's fine. I can't help but notice you also avoided mentioning the SWF, which incidentally, was established to usurp the ECA in 2011 by the same NEC. The governors were not fighting for the ECA funds to be transferred to SWF. They were haggling for it then be shared! The ECA is still in existence until today. All successive governments since it was created have deferred to it at one point or the other. The question on its legality therefore, lacks merit if every civilian government we have had deemed it fit to keep it as is without further governors whines now that it has been severely depleted. Let's forget Ngozi for a while. Rev. Tunde Lemo who was also present at those sessions aired his view on it as well. He confirmed the reason of the opposition was more for spending than constitutional: www.vanguardngr.com/2016/07/govs-opposed-excess-crude-savings-ex-cbn-dep-gov In the governors' opinions, why save when the rainy days are here already 🤦🏾♂️ |
After Obasanjo's recent comments on the mismanagement of the ECA/SWF funds, I read with dismay, how some political alleluia boys gathered en masse to heap the blame for the depletion and perpetual hibernation of the Excess Crude Account and Sovereign Wealth Fund to Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. Thankfully, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala detailed the actions of then- Governors who consistently brayed and fought dirty, turning every NEF meetings to rowdy sessions until the funds were shared among them governors. Here's an excerpt from Ngozi Okonjo Iweala's book, Fighting Corruption. Pay close attention to the names of the governors who fought against the savings and the political party they pitch their tent with as we speak: Akpabio, Oshiomole, Aregbesola, Fashola, and Amaechi as mentioned by Ngozi Okonjo Iweala. It took the insistence of Namadi Sambo to stop the abuse the governor heaped on her, in their haste to get the money shared to fund 'bogus projects'. It may be worth noting who Ngozi mentioned as a Governor who spoke in favour of leaving the funds in the ECA/SWF intact and focusing on growing it instead. That governor is Peter Obi.

Hahaha.. What a joke. The best judge are the masses. And we saw many many videos posted from their individual handles in celebration of how Otti is treating their pension affairs. That definitely trumps this ring light and obviously funded video. Need a litmus test, take to the streets, and I mean it, take to the streets. Nairaland needs to take a break from these poorly thought witch hunting swigs. The orchestrators should know this would only sell to those whose paymaster is the Kerosene-Lord as well as the default Hamas and Hezbollah supporters we've always had around. |
PulaPower:Igbos and the names were withheld? Get real. The anti-Igbo sentiments are hardly hidden anymore. Just few weeks ago, about 4 Ibos were arrested for robbery & killing.Case in point. Were their names withheld? Get real. |
proff010:To be fair, even plain stealing is called 'Yahoo' or some other fancy name these days. It is still stealing. |
Difrent:You and your dirty lies. I spoke of the one lady mutilated and paraded and you're running away with whatever nonsense you were fed with. For reference, here is the thread: Difrent:To which I replied 👇🏾 So, the Israeli lady whose mutilated corpse was paraded in the onset of this war was a military target too?Be smart enough to own up when you goof, please. The lady mutilated and paraded at the onset was not a military target.
