Please permit me to share the Open Heavens Devotional for today here. It has to do with hearing God and sensitivity to his voice. I believe we can pick one or two things from the subject

Open Heavens

Children of God who are not sensitive in these last days will have themselves to blame. You have to be prayerful, careful and sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, particularly because there are mixed multitudes all around the Church today. There are even churches that belong to Satan but have the appearance of belonging to Jesus Christ. There are also demonic agents prowling around and deceiving people. If you are not very watchful, you will become one of their victims. That will not be your portion in Jesus' Name.
Although God wants His children to hear from Him and get His best, one factor inhibiting this is the fact that they have idols in their hearts which prevent them from hearing from Him clearly. You can be seeking God's face for direction but also be hoarding idols in your heart. If you really want the Almighty God to guide you, you have to eradicate all forms of idols from your life.
There are many singles in the Body of Christ today who are not yet married even though they are of age. Some of them have allowed idols in their hearts for so long a time that they have not been able to look in the direction God is leading them to. For a user of this devotional trusting God for a marriage partner, the Lord will direct your steps in Jesus' Name. You can never get anything better than what God has in store for you.
You will observe that after the Lord made Eve out of Adam, Adam had no difficulty recognising his wife (Genesis 2:22-23). Once your spirit man is highly sensitive, you will always receive God's signal on the right thing to do each time (Isaiah 42:16).
There are many homes experiencing frustration today. It is because they have not allowed the voice of God to speak to them. God has spoken, but they have all along been listening to the idols in their heart. Not all that glitters is gold. Not all open doors are opened by God. If you really want the blessings of God in your life and home, you have to eradicate the voices of all the idols in your heart. Even if you are totally blind, as long as you depend on God for direction, His promises for your life will lead you to where you will find rest for your soul. I prophesy into your life that you will not miss your way in Jesus' Name.
Wherever God is taking you, you can rest assured that you are heading for a glorious destiny. He will lead you so clearly that you will be so sure of where you are going. He will lead you so convincingly that you can guarantee the outcome of your choice even before you embark on it. There is nothing as safe as allowing God to direct you in every sphere of life. If you hear well from Him, you will end well

Sometimes back on this thread I wondered how come even Spirit filled believers may not agree on a particular doctrine or scripture. I suggested the answer is simply the fact that our beliefs are informed by many things and not just the voice of the Holy Spirit. What you aptly call 'what we have learnt' are essentially different voices speaking to us over something at the same time as the voice of the Holy Spirit.

These voices would include: our own reasoning/intellect, what we have read or heard elsewhere and so forth.

So once again, I agree with you totally that God ofttimes requires us to abandon what we know, our convictions and intuition and listen to Him

@vooks : To buttress what I said earlier. The Lord told Peter to come on water. The law we know in physics (Archimedes) is clearly against that. Reason, brain and intellect wouldn't agree with such seemingly unwise instruction. If Peter were to primarily follow his brain / mind, he will not even step out of the boat.

That doesn't mean Peter did not go on to make use of his brain and thinking faculties after that encounter. Our brain has its function and believe me sir it's excellent. We must not walk 'out of our minds' but it remains important to always allow the Holy Spirit take the lead.

There is a thin line between being Spirit led and being a religious fanatic / extremist. We have got to be balanced bro. I am not in any way against the use of our brains but I will personally SUSPEND it if it is in contrast with what the Lord is asking me to do(That's a personal decision)

the intellect is not the antithesis of the spiritual. They are not mutually exclusive. While knowledge puffeth, people perish because of lack of knowledge.

God gave us brains and at no time are we supposed to suspend reason.

Very many dangerous movements and sects have been born out of suspension of reason.

Remember it is always easy to tag anything as 'spiritual' and above reproach and hence acceptable.

That favorite version of the bible you use is not a product of 'spiritual maturity' as such but a rigorous intellectual exercise called theology.

Haba bro... I haven't said anything about suspending our reasoning faculties . Read my earlier post well. I said they (intellect and brain) are wonderful avenues but the Spirit takes the first place in the life of the believer. I further went ahead to even say I already have a second degree and may even proceed. Get me right please. Our minds, brain et al have their great functions. They were given to us by the Lord to use them effectively as we go about our daily lives.

There are times what we know or have learnt will be in contrast with the Spirit. At those moments, what we need to do is of course let the Spirit lead while we suspend what we know in the natural.

I am not in support of spiritual extremists who suspend their reasoning faculty when it isn't even appropriate to do so. We have to balance things here so we don't find ourselves at the extreme of two lines.

Yes sir... I agree with that. The building and development of our spirits is imperative. We need to get to a place where our actions, decisions and everything we do is in sync with the Holy Spirit... The scriptures says he that is joined to the Lord is ONE spirit with him. Ephesians 4:3 also says 'endeavouring to keep the UNITY of the Spirit in the bond of peace... That oneness and unity must be perpetually maintained if we are going to please God and fulfill his purpose for our lives.

May the Lord help us all to build our spirits unto maturity. I believe it isn't something instantaneous but progressive. We will continue to grow in the Spirit as we yield ourselves to God.

He was an exceptional Christian. His faith was explosive. I av read two of his books (ever increasing faith and one on healing) he punches d devil out of d oppressed. Wat baffles me was dat he was illiterate but today we av ministers who are so educated dat God can't use dem

You are right bro. We have educated ministers that are not usable by God. I think one of the reasons is because we allow our intellect / senses to dictate for us instead of the Spirit. This generation has gone far intellectually. While there is nothing wrong in using our brains and sharp minds, we must know to what extent we can exercise this wonderful avenues (brain and intellect). When it comes to spiritual issues, we have got to yield our spirit to God.

As a matter of fact, the right order of our being as believers is SPIRIT (first), SOUL (second) and BODY (third). Please get me right. I am not asking us to neglect our body or the development of our soul (By God's grace, I have a second degree and might proceed). The point is this : Walking in the Spirit. We must be careful not to allow our education and intellectual abilities take the lead in our lives.

Brother, the authority the devil has over the believer is the authority they allow him to have via deception and manipulation. The spiritual realm is real and it is the express wish of the enemy to make sure all believers are ignorant of their authority in Christ Jesus.

On the other hand, we see the enemy encouraging those in his fold to continue discovering more in the spiritual realm. The current dynamics of the spiritual world, the controlling forces therein and their manifestation in our material world are what the enemy seek to attain.

In the past and presently in some quarters, Believers are TOLD THAT MANIFESTING IN THE SPIRIT IS AN OCCASIONAL STUFF.

The devil is still using this tactics of deception to create some confusion in spiritual issues. He has been existing before the fall of man and certainly has some deep knowledge of the spiritual realm. He uses this knowledge to setup a lot of schemes to deceive, confuse and oppress people.

Take for example, some people believe white witches (the ones dressed in white with white accessories) are better and more merciful than black witches... In some movies, the white herbalist (I mean the one in white robes / attire) are depicted to attack the black and evil ones... It's all lies. They work for the same DEVIL but the devil has painted it in such a way that people will see the herbalist or the cultists in white as merciful and pure. It's just to DECEIVE people and lure them into his trap.

@Analice : About reincarnation dear sister: From the scriptures, there is nothing like that but some experiences are just weird and can really get us confused hence the reason why it may not be necessary sometimes to delve into some stuffs '. I have heard a man of God (genuine man of God as far as I know) say he saw his dead mother appeared in the broad daylight and later vanished. Hmmmm... There are some deep spiritual stuffs o but personally, I will concern myself with those that are REALLY NECESSARY FOR MY WALK WITH GOD, SPIRITUAL GROWTH AND FULFILMENT OF DESTINY. I just want to please God and live for him. So concerning reincarnation, what the Bible says is that 'after death, its judgement' I will cleave to that until I get a further word or revelation from the Lord regarding that. If the Lord doesn't tell me more, then I just stick to what he has said in his Word.

Hmmm.@nnamdiosu and analice, thanks for the response This world is full of mysteries. My question now is that is there a similar case of a person suffering from this spiritual spouse syndrome in d Bible? It's important we know so dat we can deal with it the way it was dealt with in d Bible.

Good evening dear brother. The scripture says he that is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him. The devil likes to make a counterfeit of Kingdom principles sometimes hence the reason for spiritual husbands and wives issue.

There are no biblical proofs to say spiritual husband / wife exist but hearsay and experiences of people doesn't tally with that . My point is that those so called spirit husband / wife are demons commissioned by devil to oppress people and cause confusion in the world.

There are some people who don't have issues with spirit husbands but are still being oppressed by the devil and his demons in another way.

Those demonic spirits work for the same devil. The devil has setup different demonic programmes and principles in his realm to confuse creation. One of such is the issue of reincarnation when people claim to have seen dead people live in other places and even give birth.... Hmmmm... Satanic jabs and confusion.

I can't proof spirit husbands / wives are real from the scriptures but one thing I know is that demons could manifest in such manners to oppress people.

@everybody : I want to ask a question about wet dreams. Is it all wet dreams that is associated with a demonic undertone?

Now let me explain myself better... For males, there is a buildup of the seed (s*emen) in the body and this is released sometimes when they sleep. Some people belief this is just a biological activity / phenomenon. My issue is that this doesn't just happen sometimes without some scenes of profanity, nudity and the likes in the dream. Are we (brothers) just suppose to take it like that. There are some dreams which I know are just abnormal (intercourse in the dream and the likes). Is it that there is a thin line between these two issues or all dreams that causes the male specie to release their seeds are plain demonic?

Secondly, there are times dreams are mixed up with some profane scenes. Get me right. A situation whereby one is already having a dream that 'really makes sense' and in that same dream, an unpalatable scene (nude scenes) just comes up. Are we to just discard the entire dream or pick up the aspects that we really think contains a message?

Hmmmm... I don't know if I have been able to express myself well.

The Greek word translated "fellowship " as you'll find in the above prayer also means Transportation. And that is what Philip experienced in the example you gave.

And the Holy ghost can go to war all by Himself (not necessarily with our spirits). What do you think happens when a juju priest summons the spirit of a Spirit-filled Christian? The Holy Ghost will appear there and there will be trouble because
“... he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.” -1corinthians 6:17.

He may choose to appear in dreams in the form of a brother or sister in Christ or someone you have high regard for in the Lord so as to get your attention. He doesn't always appear in His glory.

That is not to say that any such manifestation is of God. Afteral, the false christ Olumba Obu was said to appear to many in the same manner. Also, there is the danger of making this a major teaching or doctrine in church whereby the members are encouraged to expect the pastor's visit at night. That is so wrong...the Holy spirit does so as He wills.

Everything should be judged in the light of God's Word.

I have several of such testimonies. A brother once told me I used to wake him up sometimes to pray at night and for morning prayers.

A sister once told me I prayed for her the previous night in her dream and she woke up to discover the pain she had in her body was gone.

A few times, I realize I was praying for the person at the time of the occurence, at other times, I was fast asleep.

As for the intercessory ministry of the Holy Ghost, I will discuss later as the Lord wills how Romans 8:26 is a very important passage of scripture.

I had a dream when I was in sec skool about 12 yrs ago.
I saw a big black hurricane destroying houses and shops, everything at its wake. I was walking along a street and the hurricane came again, everybody was running including me, den I hid my self inside a shop. The hurricane passed and I wasn't hurt but the roof of the shop was gone.
Suddenly I found myself in a desolate place, it was dark and I could see the hurricane on a mountain top, the cloud was as if it was about to rain then I saw a figure (don't know if to call it an angel or not) it was tall and huge and dark I think he had a sword can't remember now, I couldn't see is face cos it was taller Dan the cloud. I felt cold and I bowed my self in fear. Then he said something, he said "do u know u can command that hurricane to stop?" and I said something like "if u say so" I woke up shivering.

I believe you are being awakened to your spiritual authority in Christ. Don't let any negative situation / factor prevail in your life. Watch out for what comes your way any moment from now. Don't be silent and timid when 'it happens' but TAKE AUTHORITY using the name of Jesus Christ and watch the issue / problem die before your very eyes . Your victory is sacrosanct... Shalom

d spirit of a believer belongs to d Holy Spirit and as He wills, He can use it. Looking at the cases of Prophets in d old testament, d Spirit of God transported them at His will to show them things. You sighted d case of ezekiel nd severally in d book of ezekiel u see God telling Ezekiel to do something e.g speak to dry bones e.t.c. I don't know of cases in d new testament to support this though.

I agree with you God can use the spirit of his servants as he deems necessary but I believe this 'usage' is within the confinement of his will, person and divine attributes. The Lord used the spirit of Ezekiel as you have rightly pointed out sir. He took him to the valley of dry bones... But concerning this warfare of a thing, smiles... I am not sure. That doesn't mean I am hell bent on saying that is absolutely impossible.

As I have said ab initio in my earlier post, we know in part and prophesy in part. Biblically, I don't have proofs on them be used as warfare agents but I can't still discard the possibility.

The question is really whether God can or does use spirits of men literally in the spirit world to say wage war.
My humble opinion is no.

We have heard of occult and witchcraft where spirits of the wicked leave the bodies and travel afar and affect the living. Do spirits of believers leave their bodies under any circumstances, travel and say wrought deliverance or fight for other believers?

Ezekiel was transported in the spirit from Babylon to Israel where he witnessed men he could recognized defiling the temple. Now am talking of spirits not only being transported but being used to wage war and protect other believers

I believe believers could be transported both in the Spirit and even literally (in the physical as it was the case of Philip in the new testament) for a divine mission or revelation as adjudged necessary by God. Concerning using them to wage war, I haven't experienced such and don't see any scriptural backup for that phenomenon.


Well, there are certain issues we can't just finalize based on our own experiences. There are certain spiritual stuffs that happen and we are just left in awe... That doesn't mean we accept every spiritual experiences hook line and sinker without ensuring they align with the Word. The Word of God is the standard via which we make sound judgement and discern things that are of God. Apart from this, the Spirit of God is also available to make us KNOW and DISCERN what is of God... The Spirit and the Word are ONE.

Biblically, I don't have proofs to back up claims that the Spirit of God's servant can be transported to wage war on behalf of others. No, I don't. Nevertheless, we know in part and we prophesy in part. If anyone has a genuine experience along this line, let them share with us o. I don't want to make my conclusions now.

I wish to invite us to discuss the agency of human spirits in deliverance. Are they a genuine experience or demonic?
Without naming names, I have heard of ministries with notoriety of testimonies of many of how their MoG appeared to them in their dream and delivered them from sicknesses, oppression and so forth.

There is a story I have heard of an evangelist/missionary who came to Africa who fell into trouble and was almost dying. In a trance he saw 7 men come and deliver him. When he went back home, his church members told him how one day one of them had a burden for him and he led 6 others into some passionate prayers for him. The missionary enquired when this was and the date was exactly when he was in trouble. Moral of the story I think is to excite us into untercessory and that God can and does use human spirits as tools of deliverance.

Acts 16:9-10 (KJV)
And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. 10 And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them

This verse among others is frequently quoted to support this belief.

There was a time I had a dream about my spiritual authority. In those days I used to compile mp3 music and share them for free.

In the dream I had visited his house and we were listening to one of the MP3 cd in his stereo. He began to take me through the church financial statements and he was sad. There were huge funding deficits. I recall the financials were drafted in pencil. I comforted him and assured him we (with emphasis on myself) would take care of it.

In reality the church has a mortgage loan and the loan has been a thorn in the flesh; it gobbles most of the collections and we have fallen behind severally.

This is the closest I have interacted with a minister in a dream. Am wondering whether God indeed uses men IN DREAMS to procure deliverance. Please note, I don't mean dreams which signify deliverance like for instance dreaming praying for somebody and then waking up to pray, I mean ACTUAL miracles wrought through dreams.

I see two issues here... 1. Seeing ministers as deliverance ministers in dreams. 2. Having a burden to pray for someone and u later discover the person was in trouble at almost the same time the burden of prayer was laid on u.

I want to talk about the second issue first : Sir, I believe its very possible to have a burden to pray for a particular person. There are times you may not even know who or what you are to even pray about (This is when praying in tongues come in). I want to refer you to this book by Kenneth Hagin - TONGUES BEYOND THE UPPER ROOM. There are different experiences shared in that book to buttress this assertion of mine. They are not just saying those things to cajole or motivate us to intercession. It's real sir.

Concerning seeing ministers of God in dreams... Well, I believe that is possible too. It might not necessarily have to do with deliverance anyway. The key thing here sir is what the Lord is trying to pass across to you as dreams cannot be interpreted literally sometimes. About seeing them as deliverance ministers, I don't have any experience along that line but I have seen some of them in my dreams and its a clue for me.

I await others to shed more light on this issue...

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the Sons (HUIOS) of God... It is God's will for his children to hear him clearly. I pray for clarity and precision as we journey in the course of destiny.

@vooks : Thanks for that picture upload. God calls us by our names and not our sins. I know that isn't an excuse for us to indulge in sin but at the same time, we shouldn't allow the devil manipulate us through guilt and condemnation because of our sins / error/ weakness because we have an advocate (Jesus Christ) who is always on our side whenever we repent and turn to God.

exactly and even when you commit a sin no matter how distracted you are, the Spirit of God talks to you and even tells you how dangerous it. is ..I think the time before you commit a sin and immediately after. the problem is discerning between your thoughts and that of God talking ..also house we must know that it is God that tells us to pray whether things are good or not.. .my problem sometimes is that I don't listen... I am not sure but I. know long times of disobedience to Spirit of God attracts punishment to a true born-again.. please clarification is needed here because this came to my heart this morning

May the Lord help us sir. There have been times I wake up in the night and only manage to mumble up some words in prayers and then fall asleep again. If not for God's grace and mercies, who knows what would have been the repercussion of such spiritual complacency in the place of prayer.


We need grace to be yielded to the prompting of the Spirit as He calls us to prayer. This could happen anytime. The flesh hinders us via our appetite for sleep sometimes when the Spirit wants us to pray in the middle of the night. We need grace to keep our bodies under...

During my undergraduate days, I was praying in the hostel on a particular day while my roommates were looking for the electric cooker they put in the kitchen. Someone had taken it. I was just praying on my own (not even about the cooker). These words just dropped in my heart / spirit - THE COOKER IS IN ROOM 105, SAMUEL'S ROOM but I did not tell anyone about it because I did not even know it was from God. Each room in the hostel had its number on the front door. That room 105 was a friend's room and his name is Samuel.

They eventually found the cooker in room 105 without me even telling them. It was when I got to know the cooker was found in that room that I knew what I 'heard' in my spirit after my prayers was actually from God. It was so precise.

Sometimes when I experience things like that, I tend to think in my subconscious that hearing God is big work because the voice comes in a very gentle way sometimes. There are times it comes like a thought that just flashes through the mind and it is when the stuff happens that I recall.
I believe the key issue here is SENSITIVITY... We have got to have a quiet spirit. There is need to perpetually be at REST on our inside or we miss the gentle voice of the Spirit. I have heard him on several occasions and I have missed it too due to inability to discern his voice from the thoughts that comes from my own mind / head. There are times he also speaks through dreams, visions etc.

May the Lord help us to perpetually be attuned to his voice.

@Bro Charles : God bless you for that post up there. Hearing God is so germane to the fulfillment of God's purpose for our lives. This is a crucial subject. It's so important.

I desire to hear him clearly. I have had quite some experiences along that line but I am sure its not supposed to be a 'once in a while thing' but continuous. Hearing God should be part of my everyday life. As you have rightly said, the issue isn't about God not talking but his children not listening or being sensitive.

Please... Go deeper. I crave for God in such a deeper dimension as this - hearing him with such accuracy and precision that transcends human understanding

Perhaps it's because you guys have gone deeper in your walk with Christ that is making these nuggets of information we are lapping up boring and tedious to you. But please bear with us as you remember iron sharpeneth iron. Moreover 1 Peter 4:10 states that as each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace. May your labour of love and sacrifice will not be in vain Sir.

@ Analice, busybody... Don't misunderstand people like me, Bro Charles, nnamdiosu and oyeludef. We are not asking us not to talk about the Word. Of course the Word is the primary basis of our lives, discussion and everything we ought to do or discuss.

My point is that we shouldn't let our discussions degenerate to arguments that may not really profit or edify us. I am with vooks on the Nephilim issue but have decided to let go. I can continue to explain and bring out points to buttress and substantiate my claims while the other parties will also do the same... The debate will just continue and we might be leaving other important issues that could bless us. I have decided to let go. I still believe my opinion about the Nephilim issue is right but don't have to make everyone believe the same. Moreover, that isn't the primary criteria for living the Kingdom life.

Some of our predecessors never knew Greek and Hebrew like some of us today but we can't deny the truth that they carried God's power and dealt with the kingdom of darkness. Please get me right. I love the Word so much and want to learn. We shouldn't glory in experiences but in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ hence the need for the study of the Bible. I urge us to take our personal Bible study very very serious but beware of arguments when we meet people with contrasting views on our interpretations.

I may be right or wrong on my stance on the Nephilim issue but I believe the Lord in his own way will guide me IF that is so crucial in fulfilling destiny.

Wow... All these arguments!

I thought we had stopped the arguments. I wonder where all these arguments will lead us.

Nobody wins an argument. No one knows all. Why don't we skip all these arguments and move on to the main thing that brought us together.



So instead of wasting time arguing now, i'll rather be in a relaxing mode, maybe watch sponge-bob cartoon, and wait till God drops a message in my heart to share or till the arguments are over.


So for those people that are still arguing, keep it up.

Abi o my brother. All these arguments will not profit us. It's good we know some basic stuffs but shouldn't let our discussion degenerate into arguments. Let's talk about deeper things of the Spirit and his Kingdom. I mean things about our walk with God, hearing God and the likes.

God is a master planner he knew that the nephilims would resurface again and set up the children of Israel to finish them and lay them to waste...read about joshua, David and his might men and how they dealt with this nephilims...I even hope Hollywood could give us a movie about those might warriors of David.

Research even has it that most of those giants/nephilims fled the children of Israel and migrate beyond to other parts of the world for example the Azetecs /Incas if you look at hieroglyphics you would see kings that where giants who had 8 fingers and 8 toes, even Angkor a deserted kingdom in Thailand where ruled by this nephilims, if england formerly knpwn as Albion where ruled by these nephilims..

We may not have nephilims or giants walking the earth now but we have the nephilim spirit operating and rebelling against God.

I really agree with Vooks on the statement above. I believe the word 'perfect' used for Noah had to do exclusively with his character and integrity. It doesn't have anything to do with his biological makeup or genetics. Some things are not clearly spelt out in the Word and I personally may not agree with some explanations of scholars to prove a point (notice I said 'may not agree'). I am open to corrections.

Yes, the earth was corrupted and all that but the corruption had to do with the morals, character and integrity of the people in it at that time and not necessarily their biological makeup. The scriptures says Giants were born in those days and they were men of renown but the main issue was that they were anti - God. The imaginations of the heart of man was always evil but Noah found favour (He was different hence the reason why it was said that he was a JUST and PERFECT man in his generations)

The flood came and exterminated every living being apart from those in the ark. Well, u said I should do a research on Noah's wife and the wives of his sons. U believe they had a corrupt DNA and all that.... Em... I am not really sure about that sir. Can you give me other scriptures to substantiate your claims? I think our research should be scripture-based sir.

I don't intend to argue or throw tantrums because we have contrary views on this subject. I want to learn the right thing. Besides, these are just secondary issues. Seeking God and pleasing him is the primary for us all. Kingdom advancement is the primary focus for us. With that said, let us all feel free to contribute to this subject with the right heart, disposition and motive.
