Brother Vooks, take it easy please. Your responses are a bit harsh. I am on your side on the issue of extermination of Nephilims after the flood. Personally I believe the only humans that existed after the flood were Noah and his family (including the animals in the ark). Every other living and animate being was wiped off by the flood. How could the Nephilims have escaped the flood? Bro Charles, I don't get u on that. I don't understand but I am willing to learn and admit if I am truly convinced by an authentic explanation. For now, my stance is that nobody else survived the flood apart from Noah, his family and the animals in the ark. For me o, I am here to learn, get edified and blessed. Let's be more tolerant of each other (I don't mean compromising our beliefs). Let us correct each other in love. Bro Charles, u r doing a great job. I appreciate you. 2 Likes |

@muafrika : Thanks brother. You said a blinding (or deafening) effect to God's voice could be caused by the devil and his demons. Could that also be responsible for insensitivity and 'dullness of hearing' on our part? |

lastchild:Of course our basis for serving God should primarily be out of love for God and not fear of demons . Love is powerful and it is awesome when it is the basis of our reverence and service to God. I agree with you on that. I have not said anything to contradict that.. You said total deliverance is choosing not to commit sin though u have the power (or let me say opportunity) to do so. This is exactly what the grace of God empowers us to do. Its not that the opportunity to sin will not come after deliverance but as one who is operating based on God's Word and grace, you wouldn't give in. Your refusal to give in isn't because of lack of opportunity but because you are yielded to God. Sir, there are some that can't overcome sin even though they DETERMINE to do so. The reason is because they are not yet born again and the default sin nature is very much alive in them. God has laws. You talked about leaving in bondage because it was said one would die if he commits sin. That isn't bondage dear brother. God's commandment isn't meant to put us in bondage but to give us knowledge of his will and the consequences of disobedience. Let me ask you a question sir : What happens when a man goes to a ten storey building and decides to jump off headlong? Death right? Okay... If you now tell the person (or give him a commandment so to say) not to jump, does that put him in bondage? If he disobeys, he does that to his peril (destruction) God's law isn't meant to put us in bondage or threaten us sir. It is meant to guide us into his perfect will. I am not trying to say Christians (genuine ones o) are infallible. There are times when we fall due to one reason or the other but our new nature (the God nature) won't allow us remain in that state hence the reason why we repent and continue our relationship with God. Sir, what can you say of Joseph who had the power (opportunity) to commit adultery with his master's wife but refused? That is total deliverance. He was free from himself. Get my point sir. Total deliverance which is only realizable in Christ connotes being loosed from our very own selves (the inherited sinful / adamic nature) that pushes us against God. One who isn't born again cannot love God appropriately. At best, he would confess his love and probably back it up with some piety but that isn't it. When the opportunity to sin comes, such person falls flat because the grace and power to sustain his acclaimed love for God is lacking in his life. This grace and power comes when we get born again. I agree with the early part of your post but I think you got it twisted at the end. God bless you sir 3 Likes |

@Anas09 : You were aggressive with the devil and chased him away. Lol @ 'e no dey fear face' The devil is a tyrant who gallivants about seeking who to oppress. A stiff and rugged opposition like the one you displayed is the antidote to his intimidation. We are asked to resist the devil and he would flee. The resistance we have to display sometimes is the rugged one. It is not the 'bread and butter' type of resistance... Lol... Thanks for sharing that experience. God bless you real good. 4 Likes |

lastchild:Sir, do you know what freedom truly means? Going through your post, I presume ur definition of freedom connotes liberty to do 'whatever'... No. If that is the case, that kind of freedom will lead to death. We can't always obey our desires and inclinations (I mean fleshly desires) due to the fact that they could lead us astray. Take for instance sir, your mind tells you to jump off from a three storey building. Will you do that in the name of freedom? If your answer is No, then it means you have subjected yourself to another law-permit me to say the 'law of reasoning' As believers, freedom implies liberty from anything that contradicts God and his purpose for your life. These ranges from our default sin nature, the devil and his cohorts... I mean anything that could serve as an encumbrance on our path to maximizing our lives and destiny. The Bible in Romans 8:1 says the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me FREE from the law of sin and death. Can you see that sir? Now that is TRUE FREEDOM. There is a guiding principle that guarantees life for every man on earth. It is in yielding ourselves to God's Word. Sadly, a lot of folks rejects this thinking its a yoke. Little did they know that this rejection is actually what leads them to bondage. Dear brother, please give up whatever the Lord is asking you to surrender and embrace true freedom. It is practical. I am a living testimony to that God bless you sir. 3 Likes |

lastchild:There is total deliverance sir. No case is impossible with God as long as the person in question is willing to have it God's way. Don't be discouraged please. The death and resurrection of Christ has brought redemption to mankind. Embedded in this redemption is deliverance which isn't meant to be partial but absolute and total. God bless you sir. |

@Anas09 : Thanks. That book u mentioned is a really good one. I have it. How about asking to know God's mind about a particular issue e. g his will in marriage and other crucial issues and one can't just hear anything but there are other issues I may not even bother to ask and I get revelations about such. It could be about another person's life. Are there times the Lord keeps silent when we seek to know his will? If yes, what could be responsible though he speaks to us on other issues? I acknowledge your responses oyeludef, muafrika and ccolins. Thanks so much. |

nnamdiosu:Thanks so much brother. I once read a book written by Kenneth Hagin. He also said the first audible voice (so to say) he heard was that of the devil. The voice told him he was going to die. He mistook it for the voice of God until very much later when he heard God as he opened the scriptures. This is just to buttress what you shared above. God's audible voice is real. We only need to check if the voice aligns with the Scriptures as God's voice and his Word doesn't contradict. Thanks once again. 1 Like |

I desire we can also share experiences on Spiritual guidance (I mean how we have been led by the Holy Spirit in time past). How can we differentiate our thoughts from that which is laid upon our hearts by the Spirit? I can't really say I have heard d audible voice of God but I have been guided through his inner witness and other means of guidance. Sincerely, I have missed it sometimes too. I thought I heard God only to discover it was my own voice / thought etc. How can I clearly discern his voice from my own thoughts since He lays thoughts on my heart too and I later discover its him. I have had good results too... I mean so precise and accurate leadings which were of God but sometimes I miss it too. I don't mean to derail the thread but want to learn. Bro Charles, Anas09, ccolins, nnamdiosu et al... Thanks 2 Likes |

Let us all continue to seek to know God more. There are greater heights we can attain in the things of the Spirit. Christianity is practical and can be practically experienced. Let us trust the Holy Spirit to reveal more of God to us as we yield to him though study of God's word, prayers and prompt obedience. 3 Likes |

Charly, Anas09, muafrika, vooks, busybody and everyone that has contributed positively to this great thread ... I greet you all. This is one of the best thread I have come across on Nairaland. God bless you real good Bro Charles. I appreciate you too Anas09 for the virtue of humility in u. I respect the way u handle and respond to issues. I have been following this thread for close to two days. I have seen oppositions from the Samballats and Tobiahs too. Please let us always learn just to ignore them. Our response to their post further propels them to distract us. Let them say whatever.... They will eventuality get tired when we refuse to quote them or respond and thus we can maintain our focus and balance on the thread. The Spirit realm is real... I don't have much experience to share with us. I had about two during my undergraduate days. It was a trance I believe. I was on my bed upstairs and later found myself at the tap where we fetch water. I saw two demons there and then 'woke up'. It wasn't as if I was sleeping. I just came back to myself on the bed... Well... We don't glory in experiences but in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. This knowledge comes by revelation. Experiences are just means to an end. The ultimate end of our living and the experiences is the establishment and advancement of God's Kingdom on earth. I respect you all... I am blessed to go through this thread. I appreciate you Bro Charles. 4 Likes |

There is nothing wrong with using digital bible. The bible was initially on scrolls before it was eventually printed on paper. If not for the technology of printing, just imagine how inconvenient it will be for us to go about with scrolls to church, office, etc. Now technology has further advanced from the prints to digital which makes it much easier to access the contents of the scriptures. You can have a lot of bible versions on your phone, computer and other electronic gadgets.Isn't this wonderful? The primary issue is reading, meditating and doing the Word. The means of doing that,be it via scrolls, printed paper(we can even decide to write out the whole bible in a notebook if we like )or digital(phones,iPad,desktop, laptop etc) does not matter. The major and primary issue is this'BE THE DOER OF THE WORD' |

You are a Christian when you live like Christ. While reading d bible and praying are essentials of the christian life,we are required to DO the words of Christ.Remember the pharisees were good readers of the law and also prayer experts as it were but they failed to DO the Word and as a result could not enter the kingdom. |

saint22: U do not compare d actions of JESUS to dat of men.He came 4 a purpose which is to die 4 mankind.when we talk about d bible, some people only believe d new testament & writes off d old testament which is wrong.pls read psalm:35 & 109.Thanks saint22.I beg to disagree with u sir.Jesus is our role model.(Heb.12;2)and so we ought to emulate his lifestyle.Another example is Stephen when he was being stoned to death.Did he pray against them?Rather,he prayed FOR them.God is not interested in the death of our enemies but their repentance and salvation.Have u done everything possible in your own capacity to ensure their salvation via prayers, intercession, preaching etc before resolving to finally praying against them? I am not in any way judging ur school of thought on this issue but i believe i can still learn from you. |

jaydude: Well as for me, my opinion is that the enemies u won't kill if they don't repent wuld just kill you! Thanks Jaydude but have u considered 1Peter1:13 which says 'and who is he that will harm you if ye be followers of that which is good' I personally believe that if all we do is follow and serve God genuinely we don't have to bother about our 'enemies' as it were because God will take care of them. They can't hurt us without the consent of God and i trust that God will never permit them to hurt us.The only way they can gain access to us is when we have defiled ourselves with sin and created a loophole for them to reach us. |
