The Nigerian Prisons Service, NPS, on Tuesday said the list of successful candidates in its ongoing recruitment exercise is not yet ready.

The Service spokesman, Francis Enobore, who made this known in a statement on Tuesday,​ assured that updates on the recruitment exercise will be duly communicated to members of the public​.

Enobore also warned Nigerians to ignore the purported list of successful candidates circulating on social media.

The statement reads, “The attention of the management of the Nigerian Prisons Service has been drawn to the information making rounds on the Social Media Space, as regards the ongoing recruitment exercise.

“The Nigerian Prisons Service wishes to state unequivocally that the said information which hinges around updates on the recruitment and release of a purported list of successful candidates is false.

”The Nigerian Prisons Service did not consult any Private or corporate organization, whether through mainstream or social media to facilitate the Recruitment Exercise.​

“This information is aimed at defrauding unsuspecting job seekers by fraudsters.”

In my entire career, it's only Nigerian bosses that would make it seem okay for you to work on weekends. All foreign bosses respect weekends and after work hours. In my experience, its only Nigerian bosses and HR that would try to price your wages down like slave drivers. Foreign HR and Bosses are more concerned with paying you a fair wage to ensure you are well motivated


In my experience, foreign employers are less concerned with the appearance of work and more concerned with the content of work, so they allow flexibility in work hours and locations. Nigerian employers stick with the traditional 8-5, and demand physical presence. In my experience, foreign bosses aren't concerned about titles and ranks and try to create structures that are flat where everyone can collaborate with anyone. Nigerian bosses are very hierarchical and you're most talk to your boss, who talks to his boss and he to his boss.


In my experience, foreign employers encourage open dialogs. Every decision can be questioned, challenged and reevaluated. Nigerian employers are military styled. Questioning an instruction is considered insubordination and queries are issued like meal tickets. In my experience, foreign employers try to ensure profit sharing affects all employees. Everyone rises together or falls together. Nigerian employers like to keep the juice at the very top and it won't trickle down. Even your annual bonus is questionable.

I promised myself never to work with non-multinationals again. We are incredibly close minded and shallow in our work styles.I sometimes think our fellow country men are our own worst enemy in the workplace.

Apologies, I saw this late. NOC is the "No Objection certificate." The meaning is right there in the English.

Let's say you have a current job and you want to switch to another job. Your current employer needs to give u that legal document called the NOC before you can apply to a new company.

However, this is only applicable to expats or foreign workers in countries like Oman or Qatar. Which I believe you do not belong to. You will only need that NOC if you were already employed in Qatar as a foreigner, and then, you now wish to leave your current employment n join Qatar airways.

And like I said, I don't think anyone will be needing that certificate. The people handling this recruitment just asked for NOC just as a standard procedure.

Even Qatar citizens don't need this NOC when they want to switch jobs. They only made the law for foreign workers. You know, foreigners can just start jumping from one company to another because they are in high demand, and the Qatari government had to bring in that NOC law to protect it's companies from employees.
