Congratulations. Was it Abuja or Lagos?

Milito:
It was a successful outcome guys. Thanks so much for your support smiley smiley

And also a big thank you to all the people dropping travel tips on Nairaland on a daily basis without expecting anything in return; without even expecting thank you. You guys are MVPs.

I started getting visas after taking my time to go through other people's experiences through Nairaland posts. And utilising tips dropped by different people.

The questions centred on the event I registered and going for in the US.

VO: Passport pls

Self: Good morning! (With a high pitch and smile)

VO: Purpose of intended travel to the US

Self: To participate at **** event.

VO: Have you participated at a similar event in other countries before?

Self: yes, in 2024 in Europe, 2023 in Europe and 2022 in South Africa.

VO: is that the only thing you'll be doing?

Self: No, after my event, I'll do some sightseeing and will visit my Sister for few days in another state.

VO: What do you do for a living?

Self: I work at so and so.

VO: Continues long typing and looking at PC

VO: Are you married and do you have children?

Self: Yes, married with 3 kids. I gave the VO their ages, and told her I'm traveling alone for now.

VO: I'll be issuing your visa.

Self: Thank you very much 😊 I quickly carried my load and ran off before they change their mind.

NB
First time applicant to the US. Though I've been to Europe a couple of times.

Paid in Sept 24, initially got June date, but kept searching till I got March 2025.

Observations: A couple of Babcock students were there on a study/work exchange, they were all given except 1 guy. Felt so sad for him. If one has the means, expose your children to International trips early enough. A number of the successful ones had travel history.

I studied the VOs and quickly queued behind the one with a smile and that I noticed approved Visas for 3 of those Babcock students.

I noticed some peoples answers were too short and they were too rigid. In my own case, I added some humor about my event and made the VO laugh.

Create a new email and try it again, lets see if it would work.

Otherwise go the Lagos Consulate like around 11am and tell them you want to see the CGI people, they will help resolve it.

AdisaMighty:
Mail the people at lagosNIV. The Avits people might not respond.

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all are doing well.

if a visa is denied do they give a reason & how soon can one reapply? I made a payment in March 2024 and till today I have not been able to use that payment, because I made another payment in September and that has been utilized. I want to claim the one I made in March 2024 IN Gtbank,I have called raised a ticket for that issue and even sent an email to them( This email was given to me at the Embassy) but no response, when I tried following the instructions I was given from the response from the ticket I submitted, I was told duplicate account.

Pls what do I do?

Hello Everyone,

A circulation was going around last year that you meant to visit the embassy once before your interview date with them. is that true? My date is coming soon and I haven't gone yet , I am wondering if I should go?
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by dexydidi(f): 7:49pm On Dec 09, 2024
What do you advise? I got a date for Feb 2025 ( Because I paid for new MRV) however I paid to GTBank as well, it was because I didn't get the link that I now paid another one , however I have been trying to get a closer date , should I send the email to get a date using my GTbank payment? I made payment in March 2024

Hello All,

I have been following the discussions, Has anyone been able to get a date for this month or next? Although I have been monitoring like crazy and haven't seen any nearby date even though I have slowed down a bit. I am just regretting not choosing some Jan date I saw then because I didn't want to exhaust my 2 slots given to change,

Also my application was for a work event , I submitted two letters for expedited appointment but got rejected , What could be the reason and what do I need to do?

I saw available dates each time I clicked it, it told me slot taken, but for Jan 2025 I didn't see any date but then saw a date in Feb, Although I applied for emergency but it was rejected, I was actually due to travel October 1st week before this technical issue happened and it took them 1 month to resolve it , so I tried to see if the letter I have would be accepted but it was rejected . but I am checking if I can get for next month, now the sites takes us to Feb 2025, I don't know if anyone is experiencing this same issue. Has anyone been able to move their date to next month or 1st week December 2024?

TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by dexydidi(f): 5:48pm On Oct 18, 2024
This is my personal feeling, and I understand it might not apply to everyone, but I’ve noticed that many Nigerians, particularly within certain generations, tend not to help each other as much as we could. This is based on my own experiences. For example, on platforms like TikTok, where people—immigrants included—share their stories, you often see comments criticizing them, asking, 'Why make a video about everything?' or 'Are you the first person to move to the UK?'

In contrast, I’ve seen other nationalities, like Indians, who are known to help each other regardless of age—whether they’re Baby Boomers, Millennials, or Gen Z. Many immigrants and even content creators have pointed this out, encouraging Nigerians to seek help from other nationalities because of this difference in community support.

This isn’t to say that all Nigerians are unwilling to help—there are many who do. But in my experience, especially with the older generation, there seems to be a reluctance to assist. And honestly, if there was more of a helping culture across generations, I believe Nigeria as a country would be better off.

Adaobiiiii:
It is wrong to accuse “some people - the older generation” to have known the way but didn’t share the information. What if they didn’t find the way and are still struggling? You think you would be the first person to have shared this information if a number of us are as lucky as you to get through the preapproval stage.

Just count yourself lucky. I have tried what you said even though I have always done that, but it didn’t bring me to the calendar stage.
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by dexydidi(f): 3:38pm On Oct 18, 2024
Wow copy the amentum ref number and make sure no space and try it again

newton88:
Thanks for the update. I am having same issues. I made payment on 23 sep 2024 and still unable to book appointment customer care ain’t helping at all, raised tickets unattended to. I just tried what you did still not working.
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by dexydidi(f): 1:35pm On Oct 18, 2024
Hello Everyone,

For nearly a month, I’ve been trying to book an appointment after making my payment on September 20th, 2024. I’ve called customer service daily and created tickets, but no luck—until now.

I’m not one to keep solutions to myself, so I wanted to share how I finally resolved this issue. Each time I tried to move forward with my pending application, it would prompt me to make the payment again, even though I had already done so. I tried everything, including calling customer care. Today, they suggested I enter the OIS number on the deposit slip. I realized I had been using **"/"** instead of **"|"** for almost a month! Even though trying the **"|"** didn't work initially due to system slowness, customer service advised me to try the Aventum number. I’m pretty sure I had tried this before, but I gave it another go—and it worked!

I can’t help but feel that someone else might have solved this problem but didn’t share the solution here typical Nigerians especially the older generation ..lol. It’s a shame when people don’t help others, especially when they know the struggle. Anyway, if you’ve been stuck like I was (and I know I wasn’t the only one), try the steps I mentioned and book your appointment. I’m so grateful to God that this finally worked!

This is sad to hear. Please kindly confirm if you were ever on the old site and then rescheduled when you joined the new site or if this was a fresh application on the new site. Thanks

Do you all advise that we that have a problem booking an application go to the consulate office? Mine is one month already and it is yet to be resolved and from the comment I see here I see that people go there especially with this Avit system. Please if you have this issue and you have managed to resolve it, can you please share with us ? If you still have this problem pls lets come together It is getting out of hand,

You’re definitely deranged. Get help because you're clearly delusional, no wonder you're constantly here. you are not competing with anyone on Nairaland. Yet u keep telling other people that post their truth to shut up, Keep telling yourself whatever you need to feel important. I don’t need to expose you—your lies and foolishness do that well enough.

OyoTunjiUSA:

1. I am not doing competition on Nairaland. You and your gang only see me as a rival for always posting the truth to the best of my knowledge. I won't expose you again, keep posting lies.
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by dexydidi(f): 9:12pm On Oct 09, 2024
Did you even bother to try the number yourself to see what Truecaller says? You’re trying to bully me over opening a profile from 2010, yet your own profile claims you’ve been a US specialist since 2003, helping with POF and more. Are you sure you’re thinking clearly? I haven't tried to sell anything here, so don’t make baseless assumptions. Just because you’ve answered some questions doesn’t give you the right to speak disrespectfully to others. The thread would continue just fine without you, so don’t flatter yourself.

If you were paying attention, you'd know I already shared my screenshot. You didn’t even check whether the number was valid before posting it yourself. Did anyone criticize you for that? You’re acting like a bully, but again, I’m not surprised—it's people like you who contribute to the state of this country.

OyoTunjiUSA:

1. You opened a Nairaland account since 2010 - 14 years ago, and you are kidding yourself on a public forum. You are not real Mr man. You can use style to promote your business but stop implicating the USA embassy staffs. You can put them into problem. That number you posted is not from the embassy otherwise, screenshot evidence here .

2. I never contradicted myself. I will repeat it that, USA helpdesk staffs , and even consular officers are in various status, they have junior and senior staffs , supervisors , and the trainee staffs etc. And none of the aforementioned will give you a phone number outside or against USA embassy policy. What you did is implication. I don't need your thank you here .

* I am 100% certain that you are not a VISA applicant. I am not against you, but don't implicate the embassy staffs. Use another idea. 👆
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by dexydidi(f): 12:52pm On Oct 09, 2024
You keep contradicting yourself. You've repeatedly mentioned that calls are often answered by people who aren't trained to provide solutions and that one should keep calling until reaching someone from the embassy. So why wouldn't that apply here?

You’ve shared both phone numbers and emails on this platform, and I, along with others, have tried calling and emailing. I never said the contact information was wrong or that anyone should be cautious of you.

Don’t let the "thank yous" get to your head. If it’s a waiting game, I still have the right to update on my progress and ask others if they're facing similar issues.

Someone mentioned their issue has been pending since August, and mine is approaching one month with no progress. Let’s be mindful of our words and show empathy in our responses. If you have the answer, just provide it without belittling others.
