I agree with you on the foreign degree. During my IT in a research institute, a dude that just finished his Msc abroad was taking to head an important department. The worst thing was that the guy was very proud. He invite us (it students) to the defence of one of his paper in the institute. Na so every body gang up against am, they faulted everything he did including the manner he presented is references. I felt pity for the guy.

Former Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov demanded to be fielded against the Catalans in a pre-season clash, and Anatoly Korobochka's rejection riled him

It might be every football fan's dream to play against Barcelona but ex-Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov is alleged to have sacked his manager in 2007 for refusing to let him live out that lofty ambition.

The Scottish top flight side were being co-managed by Stephan Frail and Anatoly Korobochka during the club's pre-season as a glamour tie with the Catalans loomed.

Despite Romanov not having trained with the Scottish team or having any experience of professional football, Korobochka claims his former boss demanded to get his chance to line up against Ronaldinho, Thierry Henry, Andres Iniesta and Co. at Murrayfield.

"We played Barcelona in a friendly match and there were almost 60,000 fans there," Korobochka told Edinburgh Evening News. "Ronaldinho was at his peak and Barcelona were terrific.

"Before the game, Romanov approached me and told me he wants to play in the game. He wanted me to pick him. He wasn’t joking.

"I refused and told him he had done no training and therefore he couldn’t play. He said to me: ‘Fine, but you will not be the coach for long.’ He sacked me soon after."

Goals from Ronaldinho and Giovani dos Santos in July 2007 gave Barca a 3-1 win over Hearts without Romanov, who sacked Korobochka as manager six months later in January 2008.

Lithuanian businessman Romanov began to take control of Hearts in late 2004 and stayed at the helm of the club until they exited administration last year, having been relegated to the second tier.

Hearts celebrated the end of their Romanov era by winning the Scottish Championship in 2014-15 and will play this coming season in the top flight, which starts this weekend.

The wife of the former President, Dame Patience Jonathan, was not denied access to the VIP lounge of the Port Harcourt International Airport, as reported by some media houses, but her convoy was stopped from taking her to the foot of the aircraft on the tarmac, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has said.

The former First Lady was reportedly stopped from using the VIP lounge of the airport. It was learnt that Dame Jonathan had gone to Port Harcourt on a private visit.

Sources at the airport alleged that the former First Lady was denied access to the lounge by security operatives of FAAN, who reportedly said they were working based on orders from “above.”

But reacting to the report, FAAN, in a statement on Tuesday, described it as misleading and mischievous, and stressed that the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan was not denied access to “the VIP lounge at the Port Harcourt International Airport on July 27, 2015.”

However, the authority was quick to state that what its security officials did was to stop the former First Lady’s convoy from gaining access to the tarmac where her aircraft was parked.

The General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Yakubu Dati, said the security officials explained to Dame Jonathan’s team why her convoy was stopped, adding that the officials were only abiding by international safety standards.

FAAN said, “The former First Lady’s convoy was only denied access to the foot of the aircraft during boarding formalities at the airport in line with international aviation best practices, strictly for safety reasons as prescribed by the International Civil Aviation Organisation. Our security officials explained this fact to details of the former First Lady.

“We wish to recall that former President Goodluck Jonathan, in his recent trips from the same airport, had to walk to the aircraft from the protocol lounge, in recognition of this ICAO regulation.”

FAAN went on to explain that family members of former Presidents were officially entitled to use the VIP lounge, adding that Dame Jonathan would not be denied that right.

It said, “We wish to state that no such thing happened as Dame Jonathan, like other family members of former Presidents and other designated principal officers of government, are officially entitled to the usage of airport VIP and protocol lounges under the management of FAAN.

“The authority holds the former First Lady in high esteem, being the wife of our former President and therefore, could not have done anything that would suggest disrespect for her person.”
