A California man was arrested on suspicion of stealing underwear from a home after allegedly leaving semen on a victim's laptop that he used to watch porn.

Jonathan Jose Ruiz, 19, of Orange was arrested last week after the DNA on the laptop led police to him, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office announced this week.

Police believe Ruiz is responsible for ransacking and burglarizing a home belonging to four college-age women on Oct. 4. The women went to an event that day and came back to their home just 90 minutes later to find their home in a disarray, their underwear strewn all about the residence, according to the District Attorney’s office. Ruiz is accused of entering their home through a window, and even consuming milk and cookies from the home’s kitchen.

Police swabbed multiple items at the crime scene including semen found on one of the victim’s laptops, according to the District Attorney’s office. They said that the Orange Police Department Rapid DNA Program, a database intended to provide investigators with leads within hours of a crime, matched the DNA to Ruiz. His DNA had been submitted to the database as part of his sentence for a misdemeanor vandalism case in 2017.

Ruiz was arrested on Oct. 11 and during his arrest, police allegedly found multiple items of the victims' personal property in his possession, including two pairs of the college students’ underwear. He was charged on Monday with first-degree residential burglary and vandalism. He is now facing up to six years and eight months in jail for the bizarre burglary if convicted. Ruiz was released from custody Wednesday after posting bond. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer who can speak on his behalf at this time.
