So many skills bro... there are demands in IT, healthcare, even in education depending on the country you're going to.

People who have vocational skills like welding, plumbing etc also have opportunities if they can document their experience.

Please like what skills and courses?

bigadler:

You're 💯 on point. The OP only painted an illegal immigrant's experience, cos 10-15 years for what?

I've been into relocation and study abroad services and I can tell you from experience that some Nigerians love shortcuts, which later become longcuts.

When you tell some Nigerians to invest just 1 year learning a skill or doing a course that would help them get a good job abroad, they think it's too long, so they opt for the fast option of using a tourist visa. They get there and can't do any legal work and they have to spend over a decade settling in a foreign country.

Like which skills in IT?
StJasper:

Acquire some skills in Information Technology or some certifications in Business Marketing.

You will not think of japa after that. Japa will look for you itself.
Travel / Re: What Country Can I Migrate To With 7 Million Naira by dgee1(m): 5:44pm On Aug 25, 2023
Could you share the kind of investment that would give one that kind of return monthly?
AleAirHub:
Having 7 million naira in my bank account guarantees a monthly average return of 950,000 naira. This will allow me to enhance my lifestyle slightly, while also setting aside funds for other entrepreneurial ventures or real estate investments. I recommend you consider acquiring specialized skills in the field of information technology, as it can provide access to well-paying freelance opportunities online.
Good luck 👍

Like which countries are better than America in terms of opportunities for an African immigrant?
(I'm not trying to "trap" you with the question o. Just planning my move and looking for options)

pansophist:
America is a corporation, not a country. The citizens are just products to make money from.

The MIC (military-industrial complex) controls US foreign policy for their global bombing spree, big pharma, and the food industry control the health of the American people, and universities have become a bedrock for wokism, that brainwashes young people and plant evil lifestyles in them.

The entertainment industry destroys the mind and is a tool for social engineering. The culture is individualistic (understand as narcissistic), with no societal moral guardrail.

Sports distract, law enforcement agencies/lawyers protect the systems, and news brainwash you to believe the US is the greatest place on earth, even when other countries have far far better lifestyles. The rot in the US is too much to list.

People from the third world, still believe in the American dream, but those in developed societies, hardly migrate there.

Travel / Re: Lady Left Devastated After Paying N2.5 Million For A Fake Visa. by dgee1(m): 1:32pm On Jul 08, 2023
Hello sir, how much in Naira do you think would be enough to process my Masters studies in Canada?

Skyview01:

That is a very good question and I want to thank you immensely for the asking.

Canada is a country of law an order and they have rules to ensure that only Canadian residents have access to jobs in Canada before positions are offered to a foreign nationals.

Before an employer can offer you a job they have to go through an organization called Service Canada and obtain a certificate called Labor Market Impact Assessment(LMIA).

The process of LMIA involves the organization: advertising the job to Canadian residents by placing an adverts for a minimum of 4 weeks in up to 4 advert mediums i.e Jobbank.ca and three other mediums. One must target newcomers to Canada while the other must target first nations in Canada.

After the advert, the company has to conduct interviews for all those Canadian applicants, document the interviews and prove to Service Canada that they are not able to find a suitable candidate within Canada before offering that job to a foreign national(i.e.. Nigerians).

You pay government a non refundable fee of CAD$1,000 for this stage and the consultant will charge around CAD$5,000 for this with no guarantee of a positive LMIA.

If the LMIA is approved, you are no able to take the job offer letter from employer together with the positive LMIA documents and apply for a work permit which may also be approved or rejected by IRCC.

Now, you are the one to look for an employer in Canada who is willing to hire you and prove to the government of Canada that the job being offered to you, no Canadian is able to fill.

You see how complicated and difficult the process is?

The only time i do work visa is if you have a relative in Canada or a company in Canada that is willing to go through all the stress to hire you. The company will reach out to me directly with your offer of employment letter and then I can proceed with with an LMIA application with Service Canada..

The last work visa I did was for an hotel owner who was hiring a relative from Ecuador and had me interview and come up with valid reasons to reject more that 100 applicants from all over Canada in other to offer to job owner's relative who was a foreign national. I only do this for companies and not for individuals in Nigeria.

There are lots of other work visa that requires no LMIA but Nigerians won't be qualified for that. For temporary foreign workers like fruit pickers, the government of Canada has signed agreement with a number of Caribbean countries to supply this labor need and they would not take you from Nigeria.

It is extremely difficult but not an absolute impossibility. If you are an IT professional with years of work experience for example, you may have a good chance when you apply for jobs in provinces where other Canadians are unwilling to go and convince an employer who is willing to sponsor you with a job offer.

Next time when an agent tells you they have a guaranteed job for you in Canada, Think twice before giving your hard earned cash.

Do not waste your hard earned money on a non-existent job, try other categories and my favorite is the study permit route which almost everyone is qualified and has a good chance of success if packaged properly.

Hello bro, been following here for a while now. Thanks for this great info and motivation. So one would have to wait till January next year before starting the process? sad

pansophist:

Yes, you can. That's a very good amount.

From the second week of January next year, all schools will open for September 2024 admission intake, apply to the cheapest schools. If that time reaches, mention me, and let's walk through the process here.

Lots of schools offer a 50 percent tuition discount for students that pay on time, so you might end up paying about 4k euros in tuition, even better if you get a scholarship, which they easily give out.

Alternatively, countries like Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania are sure bankers. Tuition fees for bachelor programs are below 3k euros, and a maximum of 4k for masters, but mostly lower.

The only downside with the baltic countries is that they do not have an embassy in Nigeria, and you may need to travel to Egypt for it, but if you can make that trip, you will get your visa. They hardly deny if your application is legit.

The only thing that makes your 10M naira small is school fees, nothing else. For food and accommodation, you can always survive if you are willing to start working the next day after arriving.

All in all, I repeat, don't waste time. In your japa journey, your enemy is not money, it's time. in a year's time, it may be 1usd to 1k naira, which depresses the 10M naira you have now.

I have receipts merely five years ago when I sent money to Nigeria, and comparing the exchange rate then and now just breaks my heart. It's advantageous for us outside, but if you are inside, it's hell.

Ten years ago, folks with less than a million naira can japa to Europe, now, you will be lucky to see flights in that amount.

Hello bro, please can i PM you? I'm at the beginning of the DevOps path and would like to please be I touch with your for inspiration and motivation, nothing more. Won't be a disturbance/nuisance. Thanks so much in advance.

shine12:
Tech is amazing! I've spent previous 13 years(up to 2022) working as a Civil/Structural engineer, specialising in designing both domestic and commercial buildings. But you know what? My love for technology has always been there I've even taken the time to teach myself programming languages like Python and Ruby. And during the whole COVID situation, I decided to pursue an online MSc in Data Science. It was a challenge, but I made it through. By God's grace, I landed a job as a devOps Engineer last year, and currently, I hold the position of Senior DevOps Engineer at a cool FinTech company.

I'm very proficient in Jenkins, Linux, Ansible, Terraform, and I'm no stranger to various AWS services. Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana. I now want to lay my hands on Google Cloud and VMWare, as they seem to be a must-have skill in today's job market (to be honest you can have a great career without GC and VMWare) and I'm up for the challenge.

You know, in the grand scheme of things, there are no limits to the exploration of human knowledge and how it accentuates one's self actualistion. We can keep pushing the boundaries until our very last day. So, why not go for it and win!

He is not only a good analyst but a good teacher who can explain to politicians how the economy works so they don't make stupid decisions like Buhari made for 8 years.

Politics / Re: Labour Party Candidate Denounce Yoruba Claim He Is A Biafran by dgee1(m): 8:00pm On Mar 02, 2023
I have a strong feeling the Seun guy too is an obident and have sympathy for the Labour Party. Check the pattern of the threads that make it to the front page. They are mostly content that seek to deligitimize and rubbish the election. They are content that ridicule Tinubu. Check the thread Seun created on election day, especially what he wrote there. You'll see what I'm saying. Guy is deliberately being partial.

That tribe is cursed. grin I don't know if it's in something they eat. Someone said it's because there was no one to properly raise them after the Nigerian army killed their grandfathers, so they became horrible people soiling the country's name everywhere they go. Accommodate them in your place, and they'll call you a fool for doing that. They are the bravest people on earth, every other tribes are cowards. You'll think they're the only nonindigens in Lagos.

I'm 100% sure that fraud called Obi will not win the elections. And if Tinubu or Atiku wins, the SE region will still lose out. Even if Tinubu loses, those Igbos go hear am in Lagos. They think it's by nzobu-nzobu chest-beating politics. Can't wait for the waere people to resume clamouring for biafla again after Obi loses the election.

BTW why should someone write a book just to disrespect or cause unnecessary unrest in other people's faith? Their are a lot of things we can write or talk about and lately we know how intolerant some people could get over religious matter, why can't we just abide by the simple principle of 'respect other people's religion and beliefs'.

NUJABEZ:
I was on Upwork for six years and made more than $100k. The truth is, more than 90% of you guys reading this thread and this post will not be succesful. Upwork is not child's play, and if you do not have the skills and attention to detail required, you will not get very far.

I might sound negative, but I swore never to tell any soul about Upwork in Nigeria anymore because you guys don't have the work ethic, the resolve, and the ability to transcend the Nigerian factor. The ones I introduced to the platform never made it anywhere because they didn't put in the work. To me, Upwork is best discovered by a person rather than being told about it.

If you are going into Upwork without the right tools, equipment, and mindset -- you will fail.

If you begin working on Upwork without quickly specializing, for instance, moving from content writing to marketing automation expert; or, data entry worker to Business Analyst within your first two years on the platform, you will fail.

If you love too much sleep and detest rejection, you will fail.

If you cannot devote all of your heart and passion to become the best that you can be, you will be found out and you will get your sorry ass fired.

If you cannot rid yourself of that uniquely Nigerian ability to fashion excuses for the deferment of work, you will be let go. Your profile will tank and no one will hire you.
