Health / Re: Fear Over Mysterious Deaths In Jos by dgitrader(m): 2:32pm On Jun 11, 2020
duchez:

This time around, the rate of these deaths are alarming. Two friends of mine had separately raised the alarm to me last week but it seems there is an effort to understate the true extent of the deaths in Nigeria arising from the virus. If you have anyone who works in JUTH, you can confirm the info about the increased death occurrences in Jos.
The deaths are not reported nor from juth. It's from Bauchi road straight to Zaria road cementery. Several trips per day, several burials same time. It started during fasting, it was thought to be hunger related, but unfortunately it has increased trimendiously after Sallah.

Should be fine if it's 5w30. Says semi synthetic but I would change every 3 months/3,000 miles like conventional being this is Naija...

Thanks.

Interesting find. How long was your oil change interval? Where in Lagos did you buy this please?

4 months/less than 3000km
Any mobile station
And no oil shortage observed so far

That is not the Nigerian Mobil, Nigerian own has green cover, this one is black and seems to come from new-zealand.

It is semi synthetic and I have never used it before. cc sooperrescue

Your are right it's black cover, but it's really Nigeria produced and I think it's less than a year in the market, the promo was last year and it still sells for about 5,400. I used it twice now on Naija used 2009 accord i4, and there was remarkable improvement in engine silence and fuel economy. The engine exhaust now releases steams upon morning startup. The previous owner was using 20w-40. I took the risk and still observing if any implications.

Please what's your indept opinion on this Mobile Nigeria variant of 5w-30? What are the pros and cons?. And what is the implication of using it as recommended, but on over 10/15 years old engines?

Oh please,
We all agree there would be fixes, but how much?
How much enough for the car to be called Nigerian used and no longer a tokunbo?
How much fixes is needed to say a car is a lemon and a write-off.and not worth a tokunbo?
Sir, how much of it?
The first car I bought was in 2008 from.cotonou,
There was no single rust under the car.
There was rust showing on the engine head (the part that gets very hot after car is started and driven a little). It's a Honda engine.
The only thing I did on that car was servicing (oil and filter) and I worked on the pipes in the braking system. (The rubber pipe leading to the brake disc had a leak somewhere and my brake was failing after I had driven the car for over 4 months.
I changed all the tyres because I wanted a standard look.
That's all.
So I ask how much becomes too much to consider the fixes too much for a tokunbo car.
Modified*** there was also a leakage from the roof ( windshield). I had it glued or gumed.

If u seek quality over cheap! Going by present economic situation, the things you articulated above are well over 80k. Tires 55k, oil 19k, filter 2k, other repairs 10k+. Now this is a car with no fault o! Bros be considerate. Let's face the fact.

Except a brand new car, fixes are expected after purchase. Too much fuss on this matter. Amdman too has his faults, very poor communication and Buyers too can be unreasonable at times, u are getting very high milage Canadian cars direct, which cost about 250k less than car dealers', you should expect some touches to be done. And in the process of interstate travels during delivery, the car will be pushed to the extreme. Everything here is simply about realistic expectations and calculated risk.

i dont about lagos and other southern cities. but up in the north, 99% of so called Korean batteries are china made. and theres nothing special about them. a battery that will last over two years is dependent on....
...shelve life(time of manufacture and storage temperature)
...charging system of the vehicle in use
...driving pattern(cheap batteries love long drives with lesser stop and starts) and...
...engine recommendation. everyone is going for 75amps batteries, but some engines require lesser amps for reasons best known to automakers.

Name of brand?

Irrespective of the brand, painfully 99% of batteries in the market will never go up to two years, even on perfect charging systems.

Bro, each time i go to the East (with unregistered cars) i spend well over 20k on police/customs settlement.

Don't know your routes, but once you turn right at Sagamu bypass to face Benin express the nightmare starts, police checkpoints almost every 2km stretch.

Now, we're all different, I can't leave my house 4am and want to still be on the road by 6pm, all cos i let police delay me over #200 settlements. If you don't want to pay, of course you won't pay, its all about scale of preference, which do you value more, your money or your time.

Calculate multiple #200 payments and FSARS will tell you they won't collect anything below #500, refuse and you'll be delayed. Imagine when 20 checkpoints take 30 mins each away from your journey, won't be funny

You said it all. Case closed!

What works for A, may not work for B. And C can not verify clams by A, while D may bogusly claim to do better than A, but not even good enough to serve under B. The cycle goes on and on.
This is the ugly part of online forums, few people may remain under anonymous profiles and make unverifiable pronouncement. As if that isn't enough, others will use their egoistic imaginations to trample on other people's honest opinions. Smh

my brother order for refund asap.. i order a xiaomi redmi airdots since Feb 02 till now i received nothing.. after the goods left china in feb, my good wasn't updated.. no virus as at that time.. and also my buyer protection of 60days has expired.. God knws i disturbed the customer care.. they kept telling me its in transit. I told them that I don't care.. that my buyer protection has finished.. its risky to still leave my cash... i ask the seller, he claimed its in AliExpress hand not his.. imagine.. so i opened a dispute the first time, AliExpress considered it invalid... I contacted their customer care and told them.. they said i should be calm.. so i opened a 2nd dispute on the same goods.. AliExpress considered it invalid also.. i lost my patience and started talking to the customer care and tadaaaa... She opened a refund for me...also i am yet to see the refund... But it has been initiated... 3-20days i will receive my 7780 Naira back.. also they gave me a bonus of 7500 Naira in coupons eligible for 3months ( grin i have planned what to use it and buy and i just need to add 3dollars grin). Equivalent to the amount i bought that goods.. they did that to compensate my patience and all the 60days i waited in agony...the sad part is that I don't need that goods anymore...cos i actually bought it here in Nigeria...so after refunding my money, they went ahead to still give me coupons equivalent to my money too... finally they told me to watch out that the goods would still reach Nigeria.. that once it reaches and i am being contacted.. that i should still go and collect the Xiaomi airdots.. i told them its wrong.. they replied that cases like this.. during this covid19 that they have it all planned out.. that i will be lucky to have my money back, with my goods and i as well have the coupons. They said the seller still got his money..tho.. that this is on AliExpress for not updating my goods...cos as long as the seller shipped it out of china.. he would get paid.. so as i am.. I'm jejely waiting for the airdots and my refund has already being actualised.. my luck!
Oga, I appreciate your honesty and resilience. But be informed that covid19/shipping desruptions started in 2019 long before your order.
Pls, when you receive your goods, be kind enough to contact the same customer care, and take what ever action they tell you to do. Let's be considerate. Cheers
