PetsRottweiler Fights Dog To Save Boy by dgratrock(op): 11:02pm On Aug 29, 2008
Pit bull terriers were originally bred to be aggressive
A South African Rottweiler has helped rescue a two-year-old boy who was being mauled by a pit bull terrier.

The pit bull attacked Tshepang Taeli as he was walking with his grandmother in Oakdene, south of Johannesburg.

The dog was dragging the toddler down the road and would not let go, despite being kicked and beaten by residents.

One of the neighbours, Ricky Veludo, came to help and then went to fetch his dog, Blade. "He fought the other dog to free the child," he told a local paper.

"Blade is very protective," Mr Veludo told Die Beeld newspaper.

The boy was then rushed to hospital where he is recovering from bites to his face, legs and stomach.

"I have never felt so much pain in my life. The dog was attacking him and I was trying to release him and I could not," the boy's grandmother told The Star newspaper.

Police have opened an investigation into the attack.
RomanceRe: My Girlfriend Must Not Get Pregnant! by dgratrock: 10:52pm On Aug 29, 2008
jasonbod:
How I see it is, SHE is your girlfriend. So whether you use a condom or not it's up to you. But when it is the wrong period to have sex there is the risk of her getting pregnant. Just make sure you know when those risky days are so you don't make the same mistake again. I'm assuming you don't like condoms? If you don't like the rubber, use the pullout trick (which isn't 100% safe), or abstain from sex during that period. Unless she's on those contraceptive pills?
abstinence remains the surest way of staying safe from unwanted pregnancies, std's et al and head aches.

CelebritiesMichael Jackson Is 50 by dgratrock(op): 10:16pm On Aug 29, 2008
Michael Jackson marked a personal milestone Friday: his 50th birthday.

The 13-time Grammy winner, who has sold more than 750 million albums, told ABC News' "Good Morning America" that he's "looking forward to doing a lot of great things. ,  I think the best is yet to come in my true humble opinion."

Jackson talked to ABC by phone Thursday.

"People see some of the things I do and they say, `Why don't you show this to the world? People don't know you do these things.' And maybe I will," he said.
Jackson said recording the blockbuster albums "Thriller" and "Off the Wall" were the happiest times of his life.
"That meant very much to me and seemed to be received so beautifully by the public and the world. You know, I enjoyed it very much," he said.

As for his birthday plans, "I'll just have a little cake with my children and we'll probably watch some cartoons," he said.

Jackson, a twice-divorced father of three, said he aims to provide a normal life for his children.

"I am letting them enjoy their childhood as much as possible. ,  I let them go to the arcade and go to the movies and do things. I think that comes naturally. I want them to get to do things I didn't get to do," he said.

"I get pretty emotional when I see them having a wonderful time," he said.

Jackson was asked if he had received a membership card from AARP, which focuses on the needs and concerns of those 50 and older.

"Not that I know of!" he said, laughing.

CelebritiesSlice Of Diana Wedding Cake Reaps £1,200 At Auction by dgratrock(op): 5:53pm On Aug 29, 2008
LONDON (AFP) - A piece of 27-year-old cake from the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana has been sold to an anonymous bidder at auction for 1,200 pounds.

The slice of marzipan and icing -- decorated with the royal coat of arms -- came from one of 22 cakes distributed to royal staff after Charles and Diana's nuptials in July 1981.

It was given to Moyra Smith, a member of the Queen Mother's household, who kept the topping in cling film as a souvenir. When she died, her husband Don saw no reason to keep it.

"He had no particular feeling for it and will donate the money to several charities," said auctioneer Dominic Winter in Gloucestershire, who sold the item on Wednesday.

Winter, who usually deals in antique books, said on his website: "The slice of cake icing is in remarkably good condition considering the difficulties involved in removing this from the cake."

"A highly unusual -- and probably inedible -- collector's item."

Christianity EtcRe: Why Are Some Christians Poor? by dgratrock: 5:51am On Aug 26, 2008
~Lady~:
Quite frankly, a christian is not to strive for the riches of this world, but for holiness.
All that a Christian does is to be for the glory of God.
Christians have always misunderstood that the riches Christ was poor for are earthly riches. God's kingdom is not of this world. A Christian's riches are not here on earth. That is not to say that a Christian must be dying of poverty.
But we are to be content with what we have and work hard to survive.

My kind of rich as a Christian may be different from another Christian's kind of rich. While others may be "sowing" for the riches of the earth, i sow for the riches of heaven.

If we stop having 'big eye' and searching for more than is meant for us, we will all be rich.

Happiness doesn't come from big cars or big houses or plenty of clothes. Happiness comes from contentment with what you have. If you see what you have as a blessing, you will be rich.

But a lot of Christians are too superficial.

I pray a lot of pastors will stop preying on the ignorance of a lot of Christians. I pray that they will stop misinterpreting the Bible for their benefits.
But I know that they shall be rewarded for their work.
i believe strongly that christians are poor because of ignorance
FamilyRe: Muslims Sentence Nigerian Polygamist To Death For Polygamy? by dgratrock: 4:09am On Aug 26, 2008
Queenisha:
The shariarists are just as stupid as the legislature in Nigeria.
No be the same hookworm infested "pure water" them they drink?
They major in trivialities while folks are dying of hunger.
They leave their governors and officials stealing their funds and legislate morality on an innocent senior citizen who obviously is not harming anyone.
The irony is that these shariarists will see nothing wrong if this man left all these women went out and picked 4 girls under the age of 8 and called them his wives.
What a warped way of thinking.
this sharia thing will sink this nation one day. cant a man be free to his thing? i think nairalanders should devise a means of pressurising every member of the legislature from our various constituencies to expunge sharia from the constitution and stop this national embarassment

MERCY SAID NO
by:cece winans

I was just a child, when I felt the Savior leading
I was drawn to what I could not understand
And for the cause of Christ, I have spent my days believing
That what He'D have me be, who I am
As I've come to see the weaker side of me
I realize His grace is what I'll need
When sin demanded justice for my soul
(Chorus)
Mercy said no
I'm not going to let you go
I'm not going to let you slip away
You don't have to be afraid
Mercy said no
Sin will never take control
Life and death stood face to face
Darkness tried to steal my heart away
Thank You Jesus, Mercy said no
For God so loved the world, that He sent His son to save us
From the cross He built a bridge to set us free
Oh, but deep within our hearts, there is still a war that rages
And makes a sacrifice so hard to see
As midnight fell upon the crucifixion day
The light of hope seemed oh so far away
As evil tried to stop redemption's flow
(Repeat Chorus)
(Bridge)
And now when heaven looks at me
It's through the blood of Jesus
Reminding me of one day long ago
(Repeat Chorus)
the truth be say i trip for your chuch level, we go see when we reach heaven, no shaking

AdvertsRe: How Can I Open A Free Paypal Address As a Nigerian? by dgratrock: 11:01pm On Aug 25, 2008
stillLeno:
hello

finally solved this paypal hassle. i can open a paypal address for you. i mean a verified paypal account. nigerians are not allowed to open paypal but they can access verified paypal accounts.

i have friends outside the country who will use your name to open your paypal account, verify it for you with a credit card. after which they will hand over the account to you. please feel free to change the password and open it from anywhere in Nigeria.

To open your own paypal account you will have to pay for the service. the goodnews is that i will not take a kobo from you in advance. i will open the account for you. have them verify it and then show you proof that it is verified. not just opened but verified with a bank account and proof of address attached.

once i show proof, u pay and i hand it over. that way you risk nothing. for more information, call me.
