Please boss.... this TTU email for funding just confuse me abeg. What do they mean by this? These people are playing with me or what is this? I should fund PhD from Nigeria for the remaining years ...how I wan take start


We are pleased to be able to offer you a $1,000 competitive tuition scholarship for the 2020-2021 academic year. This is a one-time award and will not be renewed for additional academic years. The amount of the scholarship is $1,000 for one year beginning in Fall 2020.  It will be disbursed as $500 in the fall semester and $500 in the spring semester as a scholarship, paying tuition and fees first, with any remaining balance issued to the student by Student Business Services (SBS). In addition, this award is expected to waive out-of-state tuition for the award years and does not require any service to the university, however, full-time enrollment of 9 or more hours is required.


This funding is available on a first come, first served basis.  If you wish to accept this scholarship, please complete the form at ----


Please note that if your department, the Graduate School, or another Texas Tech University entity does award you an assistantship or another scholarship prior to the start of the Fall 2020 semester, then this scholarship will be revoked so that you may receive the new funding.""

That's a Scholarship from graduate school. Most international student receives it. It would have made small sense if you were a Ms student, For a PhD, that's not what you need bro. Just ignore the email and continue praying that your department sends their offer. That's the main deal.

Have you gotten reply from your GC? What are they saying about assistantship's?

We are not surprised. We all know laws in Nigeria are made for the poor.

I have gone ahead to create the eraider acct. I was expecting to see the financial aid there but it isnt. How long did you wait for urs?

I think it's scholarship that's usually posted on that eRaider, I'm not sure tho. But I know you will get an email with your assistantship offer when one is given.

I received my funding offer about 3weeks after admit. But I know some pple who's funding offer came along with their admit. It depends on dpt.

Don't be discouraged, Coronavirus might be slowing the funding decision. I hope you receive your funding soon.

MSc. TTU doesn't give Ms full ride, but the deficit is almost insignificant.

I did not apply separately for the funding. I don't think you need to. But you can email your dpt to ask.

Hi, your WES will be around 3.2/3.3. it's a guess base on people's evaluation I have seen. Usually, WES weighs your last two years(HND) higher.

Although my department gave me a TA postion, I believe funding in every school is per department. And one sure way to know if the department got funding is by asking the GC.

Ordinarily, I believe graduate application to TTU has closed for this fall, were you asked to apply for this Fall? If so, I will suggest you apply, I think it is worth trying. If your department got funding, and u meet d criteria, you'd definitely get it. Also, you know how very competitive Engineering courses are in every schools.

If you've got the cash to apply, I think you should, and keep good communication with your GC. It's all a game of chance and grace, that's why we apply to many schools.

I just got an email from my GC about being scheduled for the interview, I was a little confused as I thought the school recognise Nigeria as an English speaking country.

Does anyone have idea what the interview is about ?
