Good day everyone I never knew travel section existed on Nairaland however I was deny admission by Cleveland university.

The following is how everything started...

I am graduate of a polytechnic (mechanical Engineering) here in Nigerian graduated with pass and knew from the onset that travelling to the U.S isn't possible via student visa; with human reasoning, but there was these agent my mum was working with it to help process the admission.

As a learned person I told my mum travelling to u.s via student visa isn't possible due to my grade but the agent convinced her that its possible as he was the one that help her process her travelling to the u.s. I knew he wanted to syphons my mum but I never argue. He collected N220k to do the admission

Fast forward to the requirements section i never wrote any [s]international exam such as TOEFL GRE SAT e.t.c, I never knew how he did it to scale through this section[/s]

so, come this Oct I was given denied admission stating that ''they regretted not given me admission as there are too many population and the files submitted''

All been done and said, I'm still optimistic and my question is ''is it possible for someone with pass to travel via students visa'', what other possible ways could one travel to the U.S?

Note my mum is currently in the u.s, working as a care Nurse, she was give visa cos she looks like a granny with her white hair - my opinion though.

Hi, I assume it's admission for masters you meant. what is your OND GPA, you did not mention. If your OND is better, it can augment your HND. However, you will need to do a WES evaluation to see where you stand on US standard.

Use the WES online GPA calculator to get your unofficial GPA. Although, for a master's, schools usually accept 3.00 upward, but am sure they are schools that accept less.

Have it in mind that u will need to write GRE and TOEFL to stand a good chance

Ultimately, like someone here said, there's always a school that fit everyone in US. Making research is the key. Cheers

My evaluation was completed on Tuesday 10th, and according to my profile, it says a copy has been sent to me. However no tracking number was given.

For those with experience on courier delivery from WES, please how many days after completion did you receive your delivery to Nigeria.

i have even asked him to send me the evidence of payment.... and he is reluctant about it... the money has not been debited yet... he said he has made d payment but it hasnt gone through. he is now telling me to give him time dat it will go through. but i dnt have time and dats why am asking for my money back and hez telling me dat d payment must go through and dat if he gives me bck my money and after d long run d payment goes through, who will refund him his money...

Hi, from your replies, it seems you are dealing with an agent or someone not very close to you. That explains why you both have not drag yourself to the bank.

Have you ever wondered if he actually made the payment? I think he did not, and just using 'pending' to keep you in check.

Btw: All WES profile that's created and filled for an evaluation will always show pending. It doesn't mean payment has been made or attempted. Your only proof that he attempted to pay is debit alert from his bank, did he show you such alert? I doubt it.

Queen, it seems you have either been scammed or he has squandered the money, thus, all the flimsy excuses.

What you do next is entirely up to you, you know your relationship with him, and how to get back your money.

@the bolded, when you say 'it's not been debited' does it mean his cleared balance and ledger balance still shows same amount, if so, how do you know it is pending? Or the amount has been removed from d available balance?

Usually, when you make an international online transactions, the money is immediately removed from your available balance, although it still shows on your ledger balance, after some days before the bank fully debit you.

Also, what is the bank saying about all this? Cos ultimately, it is still the bank that will resolve this.

Remember time is of essence in this WES and admission hustle.

This is a dicey situation and you are on the verge of loosing your money if not careful.

Firstly, from my experience, once you initiate the payment on Wes and input all necessary information, you will either get a successful response or otherwise, in this case, does your friend remember which response he got?
Also, has he done successfully online transactions prior?

It's possible he was debited for an unsuccessful transaction, in which case his stance on not giving you the money till it is resolved is logical, but that it will later be successful, I doubt that.

However, has he gone to the bank to complain and fill the dispute form? For an international transactions, most banks take about 40days for reversal. Since you stated it is more than 40days, what response has he gotten from the bank?

The solution lies with his bank, the money is obviously hanging somewhere, also, your friend should check his balance properly, sometimes, he might not get a mobile alert for reversals.

Hi, It seem you are trying to request for your transcript via a platform or some sort,

I really don't know much about those methods, but I will strongly advise you go to your school and make the official request yourself or find someone around there to help out. It will save you time and possible errors.

The process is quite straightforward, the delays are mainly caused by the Nigerian schools and sometimes WES.

Get to your school and request that your transcript is sent to WES.
Some schools include a copy of your certificate along with the package to be sent to WES, if UNILAG doesn't include certificate, no need to worry. You can Fax it directly to WES.

Make sure to include your WES reference number as a note to the fax or just simply rename your scanned certificate to your WES reference number.

Sorry for the late response. Go ahead and apply online and go to the school to submit hardcopy. LASU extorts Money from students. you pay for the transcripts processing and pay for verification, over N57k+. its really horrible!!!

This is still cheap, My Alma Mater charges about 59k for transcript, plus another 5k for verification.

Plain extortion. God help us in this country.
