Business › Re: NNPC Accuses Dangote Refinery Of Trying To Monopolise Fuel Market by Dharmiejoe(m): 6:32pm On May 23 |
Why issue licences to players that won't build refineries but to import. If you truly want competition demand all stakeholders have a running refinery even if it's modular ones and allocate crude oil judiciously and see it there won't be competition. Dangote is right on this. |

Foreign Affairs › Re: Anti-Trump Protesters Gather In Washington, Other US Cities by Dharmiejoe(m): 1:45pm On Apr 06, 2025 |
JASONjnr: As a foreign observer, I believe President Trump's economic policies, particularly his tariffs, are a strategic move to boost the US economy. The Trump tariffs aim to level the playing field for American businesses and workers by imposing taxes on imported goods. This approach has both supporters and critics, but it is designed to protect US industries, generate revenue, and stimulate domestic production and investment. While the tariffs may lead to higher prices for consumers and reduced economic growth in the short term, they can also be seen as a negotiating tool to secure more favorable trade agreements with other countries. The tariffs imposed on China, Canada, and Mexico, as well as those on steel and aluminum, are specific examples of this policy in action. Overall, Trump's tariffs are a complex and multifaceted policy aimed at promoting American economic interests. I understand ur perspective but imposing high tariffs is not the only way to curb importation. Look at Nigeria after closing border to stop importation of rice and grow out local production what has been the outcome? Pain and pain for Nigerians. Sometimes its better to always look for home grown policies like incentives to stimulate local production for self sufficiency before all tariff hike. |

Almunjid: Pastors have stopped preaching against immorality and sin, and instead have started advising people to marry within their financial means. However, after giving such advice, they still ask for offerings and tithes from their congregation, making it seem like they're just saying what the congregation wants to hear in exchange for money. Shattap! You only see flaws in pastors messages than value. No body put a gun in ur head to pay offering or tithe. It's ur choice |

Look at this man. So because of this, you guys decied to increase the price of cement just because only a few or select few are producing. This is the same artificial crisis i was talking about even in the market. The traders are deliberately increasing prices of commodities in the market every hour of the day. The same item on the same day has a different price at 8:00am, 12:00noon and 4:00pm.
Humans are just being wicked. Nigerians most especially. Always looking to cash out on the slightest opportunity |

codemaniacs: That's 50 billion naira.
If $1 was equal to 30 naira they won't be complaining.
You're wrong it's not the purchasing power that has taken serious hit it's the naira's exchange rate that has taken a massive hit. why are you contradicting yourself. In a dollarized economy where the naira is depreciating against dollar, the prices of goods and services will go up this reduces the purchasing power of nigerians. Simple!! |
