Business / Steps To Writing A Business Plan For Your Small Business by dharmielol(f): 2:37pm On Aug 15, 2016
Creating a business plan is one of the most important steps you will take because the plan serves as your road map for the early years of your business and an essential road map for business success. It defines exactly what you want to achieve and how you plan to achieve it. Business Plan will help you collate and clarify your business ideas, plan for the future of your business, and will help to show whether your idea is realistic and workable. Your
Business Plan will play a key role in attracting funding to get your business started,
Most small business owners never had business plan. In fact, most of them don’t know how to write it

Why you need a business plan
• It will define and focus your objective using appropriate information and analysis.
• You can use it as a selling tool in dealing with important relationships including your lenders, investors and banks.
• Your business plan can uncover omissions and/or weaknesses in your planning process.
• You can use the plan to solicit opinions and advice from people, including those in your intended field of business, who will freely give you invaluable advice.
• You will also end up with a plan that you can share with business partners, investors, and friends and family. Sharing your vision and your strategy is the best way to get everyone on the same page and pushing forward to build a successful business.
• Business plan can be use for more investment and to develop a better strategy for your business
I will like to show you how to write a good business plan for your small business and give you a great sense of what a finished plan looks like, what should be included, and how a plan should be structured. By creating your own business plan, you are going to have to think about how you are going to build your own business. What marketing tactics are you going to use? What kind of management team do you need to be successful? How is your business going to set itself apart from the competition?

STEPS TO WRITING A BUSINESS PLAN:
Your small business plan should clearly state:
Personal details:
 Name
 Address
 Country of residence
 Telephone contacts
 Educational background
 Relevant Work Experience

Business Details:
 Your business idea
 Resources, Expertise and Equipments needed
 Name: The name you choose for your business should reflect the image you want to project to your market. Pick one that’s easy to pronounce and remember. And make sure that it’s not already in use, as you won’t have to change it again by the time you want to register the name with CAC
 Type of Business; what you do: i.e The products or services it will provide
 Sales Promotion
 Business goals (short-term/Long-term)
 Financial goals (short-term/Long-term)
 Your pricing, selling methods (whether on credit base or cash base)
 How customers will access your products or services (for example, in a shop, mobile, online or by phone)
 Marketing and sales plans: Explain how you plan to market your business and generate sales. It helps to research your competition when drafting this section.
 Explain how your business will meet customer needs and how it will compete with similar businesses.
 Knowing your customers range/category i.e. are they young or old? Are they Male, female or both? Are they Elites or illiterates?
 Staffing: whether to take on employees and base on how – part-time or full time
 Funding requests: Outline current and expected funding needs for the next five years. Include a budget that shows how you expect to use invested capital and any long-term financial strategies

When you write your business plan, remember to be clear, realistic and concise. Use research to support your conclusions and include an action plan. And remember that business plans are dynamic documents – meaning that you should adjust your plan as your business develops.
I strongly believe that a good well written and followed business plan will help promote your business much more effectively.
Business / 20 Small Businesses You Can Start With Little Or No Capital by dharmielol(f): 2:24pm On Aug 15, 2016
If your idea and plan of execution aren’t well thought out from the beginning, no amount of money can turn it into a winner. Have a great idea but very little money? Don’t let that stop you! Yes, there will be ridiculously long days with little to no sleep. Yes, you are going to be stressed. But those that want it bad enough will make it.
Many people often have amazing business ideas, but they put them on hold due to a lack of capital. They assume that they can never start that business unless they have major funding behind them. This is not true in many cases I have seen. Let me show you some tips that can help you get your idea off the ground with little or no funds

 Start a business on what you know. Instead of venturing into what you don’t know or have knowledge about that will cost you extra training fee and expenses, rather start a business around your skills and knowledge which will only require you spending less (if necessary) on acquiring more knowledge on it. The less you have to rely on outside sources the better. When your business is built around your own personal expertise you can eliminate consultants and outside assistance as well. Also, having that knowledge is sometimes all that is needed to successfully take the plunge into entrepreneurship.

 Define your market: Do some basic market research too. Find out the set of people interested in your proposed products or services and would be willing, ready and able to pay money for it. and identify your prospective customers

 Tell everyone you know what you are doing; Inform your family, friends, colleagues about your new business. Take advantage of free advertising and marketing. Make use of the social media, Make as many local media contacts as you can and be extremely responsive with their requests, post it on your facebook, twitter, BBM, etc Make calls, send SMS and mails. Through this your friends too can help you re-broadcast it. This is what we call grassroots marketing which can help introduce your business to a much larger audience.

 Have a detailed plan; The more precise and detailed your plan is, covering all the basics related to how you will do everything that needs to be done, the easier it is going to be for you to attain success. Such a plan show your start-up investment needs, your advertising plans, your product costs and procedures, your sales program, and how your time would be allocated. The clearer you can “see” everything before you start the better your chances for success.

 Avoid unnecessary expenses. You are going to have plenty of expenses, and there are some that just can’t be avoided. What you can avoid though is overspending. Follow your plans on what to spend on
Here are some out of the many small business you can start with little or no capital, The list is not exhaustive but I believed you can pick an interest in one or two of the businesses listed

1. LAUNDRY/IRONING SERVICE:
Everyone has dirty clothes for laundry and ironing, but many working class and career individuals do not have the time to tend to their laundry themselves because of the busy schedule of work or business, this is where you would come in and make money by doing a professional laundry service, especially in areas where power supply is erratic

2. BEAUTY SALON/HAIRSTYLIST:
Hairstyling is a popular business that can be quite lucrative. Generally, with the trend in fashion statements nowadays, hairstylists are usually busy. If you already have your apprenticeship training and experience, and loads of friends especially ladies under your belt, you probably have prospects that will follow you right home without any hesitation. You can have a unisex salon under one roof, get some hairstylists, who are very good in weaving and braids, place them on salary or commission and your life will not remain the same

3. CAKES, SMALL CHOPS AND DECORATING
Do you like baking and making pastries?you can also learn it at a cheap rate and make them for special events. Sell your creations online via your social media sites, People celebrate birthdays, wedding ceremony, retirements, graduation, etc and they all need cakes, small chops or decorations

4. SECOND HAND MATERIALS:
Second-hand materials either from abroad or locally sourced can often be bought cheaply at private sale, from markets and side-street secondhand market like GATA NKOWA in Abule-Egba Lagos, Lawanson, Computer Village, Vespa market, Alaba Market, ASPAMDA, etc. and through classified advertisements in E-commerce website such as OLX, TRADESTABLE, NAIRALAND, etc. The goods/items can be displayed on free advert platforms, it could also be displayed in a Vehicle whether stationary or moving-across-town, the goods usually comes with lower price value compared to brand new ones.

5. HOUSECLEANING
Many people simply don’t have the time to tidy and clean up their homes nor enjoy cleaning their homes and are willing to pay a reasonable price to have someone do the work for them. This is a great way to earn extra money in a flexible way, particularly if you have time off during the workweek. And since you will be working for yourself, you can often choose your own hours, terms, and pay

6. RECHARGE CARD PRINTING:
A recent study shows that the average monthly money spent on voice and data in Nigeria amounts to N445Billion. Even the GSM companies attest to the fact that Nigeria is a Goldmine when it comes to Telecoms business. You can actually start with capital as low as N10k and make a profit of N2k if you do your networking well. There are 3 categories of recharge card business anyway, you could either be a Retailer, wholesaler or Dealer. Whichever category you chose, it’s a good venture because as long as people still keeps subscribing and making phone calls you will never be out of business, also it is not a seasonal business

7. ESATE MANAGER/AGENT SERVICE:
Owners of apartments and houses are most often willing to pay 5% of the rent as commission to agent who will collect monthly rents, place income in the bank, superintend maintenance and show people over vacant flats. Some people make good income from this arrangement, managing several blocks of serviced apartments/flats in private and commercial. You can leverage on referrals, family and friends who have properties but doesn’t have the time managing the estate themselves. You also do not need to have any capital to start this venture

8. HOME DAYCARE
Many states allow people to start an in-home daycare with minimal licensing and paperwork. If you love children and have plenty of time and space at home, this is a perfect business to get into. All you need is a safe room or two for children to play in, some toys and activities, and a whole lot of patience.

9. EVENT DJ
Are you a music lover who is also current with the latest set of music in town? Then all you need is a good sound system instruments, either you use yours or you go and rent it. This is a great way to fill an afternoon or evening while also earning some cash in the process.

Do you love to cook? You can start a home catering business. Its not necessary you start big , you can start by cooking for small gathering, meetings, small parties, supply of breakfast and lunch to offices etc

12. TUTORING
Tutoring is also one of the businesses you can start for less than $100. It might look difficult to market your tutoring services, but online platforms make it easier than ever. Did you major in a subject like English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Financial Account etc? Do you have patience with children? If so, you likely have what you need to tutor kids in particular subjects. Seek out parents or teachers and let them know that you tutor students in a certain subject, and offer materials for them to share, and phone calls will often trickle in.

13. CLEANING SERVICES FOR BUSINESSES
Many businesses and civic institutions need individuals who can clean their offices and common areas outside of normal business hours. If you’re willing to work some nights and weekends, you can build a cleaning side business and get in shape all in one fell swoop

14. GROCERY DELIVERY
If you own a car you have what you need to start delivering groceries. Make awareness by going to offices to receive their orders. To make delivery affordable for the customer and efficient enough for you to make a decent profit, you may have to service a very limited area. You might start by approaching elderly residents in a housing complex, promising delivery just two days per week in order to process as many orders as you can at once.

15. PLANTAIN CHIPS/COCONUT CHIPS,CHINCHIN ETC
These are probably the fastest moving consumer goods in Nigeria after Bottle water and Sachet pure-water. This can be supplied to supermarkets or to boys who hawk by the road side. Just make sure you put your label which will have your contact address, phone numbers, name of your venture. The more you produce the more money you make

16. GSM PHONE REPAIRS SERVICES
This is another highly profitable small business. Some I.T firms even offer to train people on GSM repairs for free. Also there are different software on how to repair, fix and troubleshoot any phone, your ability to handle simple working tools is all it’s needed to excel in this field of endeavor. As GSM is widely used in Nigeria with almost 100million GSM phone users across the country, so is the income potential is unlimited. All you need is a computer, some time, and some energy to consistently write. It can start as a hobby and turn into a business over time. And blog hosting can cost less than $12 per month. Just beware; blogging is by no means an easy business. It may take months – or years – before you make your first dollar

19. WEDDING PLANNER
If you’re one of those people who can’t help but flip through bridal magazines and think about various wedding arrangements in your daydreams, wedding planning might be the perfect thing for you. A great way to get started is to develop a website or blog on the topic, get to know people online, and promote your services at local wedding venues and throughout the community.

20. SLIDESHOW MAKING
Many people would love to have a beautiful slideshow to commemorate the passing of a loved one, an anniversary, or a special birthday. With a computer and some select software, you could quickly turn anyone’s pictures into a beautiful, custom slideshow, and profit handsomely for your time and effort.

Fashion / Keeping Your Ankara Fabric From Fading by dharmielol(f): 2:59pm On Aug 12, 2016
For a long time, I hardly wear my Ankara fabric simply because anytime I wear it, I wash it immediately and by the time I pick it up to wear again, it has faded. Now that Ankara is trending, I just have to look for a way to care for it and I did. I’m happy about it and have decided to share it with you guys. Relax, read and learn

Ankara has been the latest trending wear/design now, it has become very popular in recent years. it is now being worn by celebrities worldwide making it even more popular and appreciated. Ankara fabric are now being used to sew different design you could ever imagine (even suits)

There are different types of Ankara, but the most common one is the Wax.

Ankara being a colourful, lovely and vibrant material needs to be well cared for in order to keep it from fading. Below are the best ways to care for your Ankara

As much as possible, avoid washing your Ankara fabric always unless it’s compulsory. Unnecessary regular washing tends to make it fade away quickly
Avoid using washing machine to wash your fabric as the machine may be too rough for the fabric and if you must, use it just once in a while and adjust it to ‘normal washing’ setting
In the case of stains, it is advisable to always treat only the area that has stain with baking soda, avoid using bleach on your Ankara fabric, they are harsh on the fabric
Avoid using detergents to wash your fabric, rather use a mild soap. Detergents tends to make your fabric fade away because of its harshness on Ankara
And lastly, adding a tablespoon of salt to the water for washing will also help keep the fabric from fading (this is possible because of the chloride content in the salt)
These are just the basic knowledge needed to care for our fabric and to keep them from fading

Fashion / How To Match Colours For Your Outfit by dharmielol(f): 2:50pm On Aug 12, 2016
It took me years to learn about colours, I guess I didn’t pay much attention to it while growing up. I used to think there are just few colours, i.e. black, white, and the primary colours. But when I started developing much interest in fashion, I discovered there are endless numbers of colours available and one must also be able to combine them well. I would say some people are gifted in the area of combining colors. They can just combine anything. But for some others, they have to learn it especially if their work is fashion related. It’s just like a skill that has to be learned, one way or the other.

Combining colours in dressing is not a big deal, you only need to follow the logic and be careful so as not to go off the trend, it’s simple but systematic. Colours generally have to do with feelings, moods and purposes which have to be expressed by the way they are used. So it means, you can create the kind of impression you want through the colors you combine and wear. In some other works where color applications matter, colors are used in healing the soul, defining a company’s brand.

Doing this exercise, we will make use of The Color Wheel, which was developed by Sir Isaac Newton in 1666. I believe this is the safest way of selecting and combining colors. This helps in identifying colours that complement one another and the ones that cause disharmony. You can even download the colour wheel on your phone for easy accessibility.

Match colours that are complimentary e.g. black and white (just as the common saying opposites attract). You can wear clothes of different shades of the same colour or similar colours. It’s always look good together. You literally cannot go wrong with the use of neutrals in colour mixing e.g. Black, Brown, Grey, White, Silver, Gold etc. You can match a dark colour with light colours. Don’t wear or match dark colours or light colours all through in your dressing. For example, bright red on dark green will look better than wearing bright red on bright green.

Matching two or more colours together:

Match colours that are directly next to each other.
Match colours that are directly opposite each other
Match colours that are 2 colours apart i.e. 90 degrees apart.
Matching three colours together (For Ladies)
Match colours that form the letter T on the wheel.
Match colours that form the letter X on the wheel and also
Be careful with patterned, strips, flower tops/shirt when matching them with your skirt/trouser. Pattern doesn’t go well on pattern so also the latter, better to let one of the cloth be patterned, and if it’s a three pieces of cloth, let only one be patterned.
Finally, always remember that wearing clothes with matching colours is not enough, be Stylish, Elegant and always wear Confidence! See you again soon.
