Imo state has one of the highest literacy level in Nigeria, that is not a hype but a statement of fact. An average Imo person has at least a secondary school Certificate.
Check the WAEC and JAMB exams enrollment, Imo state ranks very high atop. Mind you, not all Imo indigens go to school in Imo state, most of the schools in the SW has very high population of Igbo students even though the SW likes to downplay the fact that Igbo people have made more conscious progress towards educational attainment than any other tribe over the last 40years.
Most of the times all they see are igbo business men in Ladipo an tejuosho markets, they forget that a majority of the traders can basically read and write, know decent mathematics and speak basic understable english-a feat most people of other tribes in their category are yet to attain- not to talk of the ones that go into business after their tertiary education who are often clumped up as uneducated traders.
I will like some of our SW brothers to leave the SW region a bit and explore other places in the SW to get a better judgement.

ZE: Imo State is still the most educationally advantaged state in Nigeria. I believe it will be easier to assemble the finest lectures in Engineering and Natural sciences in Imo state. So dont question the decision to site the school of Engineering in Imo State, the authorities must have done their home work very well.

The last time i checked, Ghana does not have more than 3 Universities. That will be dwarfed by our existing 27 federal universities, 36 state universities, and 31 private universities. The fake prof was not briefed by those who hired him that the govt which he seeks to paint black has been able to establish 9 new universities in less than 1 year. Secondly, unlike Ghana, the Nigerian Fed govt subsidizes education heavily. I attended UNIBEN and my school fees did not exceed N 9,700 fr each session. This is so given that in this year alone, govt' s subventions to UNIBEN is over 12 billion Naira. In Ghana, the story is not the same. Students cough out almost a million Naira for school fees. So why can't they afford a bit better hostel accommodation. In covenant university, where students pay that much too, their hostels are better than some guest houses in Kumasi. Learn to situate issues in proper context. Nigeria remains the only country where Education is heavily subsidized despite its teeming population. Ask anybody in any university in Uk or America, he will tell you better. Forbes has built a reputation over the years. They are not like You who has been bribed by some paymasters to come and fabricate lies and turn truth on its head on Nairaland.
