you have a student visa to Canada..that i understand.You will resume school in January 2017 in Canada..that too i understand...But is there any specific reason you want to enter US first before landing in Canada.Otherwise i would say as a student in Canada.you stand 100% chance of being granted 3yrs visit visa to US more than applying from Nigeria just because you have Canadian Student visa.The VO might look at why you want to pass through US when you can easily fly to Canada to resume your studies.

All the VO here in Canada needs to see is your enrolment document and student ID card and probably some term results sheets if you have done one semester.So do not fidget..land in Canada and forward match to Us embassy to collect your 3yrs Visa.

Why not get to Canada 1st and apply for US visit visa? That way you have a strong ties as a student, but know that you will show your proof of enrollment when you apply from Canada

I just got my visa this month and the most important of all the docs is your bank account....you must have good balance.

What state did you fill when you started the application, be sure the state you chose is the same as where you are requesting for your interview. You can't choose lagos, and put Abuja as your appointment

Is it directly from the airline or website. Because most airline will cancel after 48hrs

My uncle in US booked it for me oh, it shows the date I'll leave and when I'll arrive Canada and also when I'll return... try a travel agent, they'll do it for u

So I'm headed to the VAC now...applying for a visit visa to attend an educational conference. Using paper route. here is what is included in my application packet.
1. Complete and signed application form, family form, representative form.
2. Photocophy of my national passport.
3.Statement of purpose..
4.Statement of sponsorship from my aunt.
5.National I'd of my aunt and her statement of account for 4 months (2.4 million)
6. Letter of identification from my dean of students stating the year of my graduation, which will be in 2017.
7. Invitation letter from conference organizers.
8.Registration receipt of conference.
9.Proof of current enrollment in school ( admission letter, school fees payment receipts, semester results with grades, photocopy of school id card)
10.Round flight itinerary and hotel bookings.
11. 2 passport photographs.

i did paper application. Used booking.com for my hotel reservation. Just set got to Abuja. Will collect my passport tomorrow's ro and keep u posted.

@Mamateniola, you are right but he has a reason to travel in 3 month from now, that is why am asking could it be possible to apply after 3 month?

He should give a very good time! He already been denied twice in a year.better don't get labelled desperate. The VO will think he rushed to use the other visa so he can come get US visa and then boom, run away!
Read up VO told someone 2-3years or if he has any good reason to travel like in another 1year otherwise don't go look for trouble again this year.
Btw, yu said he has 2 unused visa, it shld remain one na. He can use that and cut US some slacks unti much later.
I was denied once and I didn't apply until 2years later when my circumstances improved significantly and I got A REASON to travel. The VO didn't even ask me more than pass me your passport before she issued me a visa.
So IMO, wait a year or 2 if there is no hidden agenda!

Will applying after 3 month be idle, or still too early. Yes, he decided to travel to Europe to spend part of the vacation and 3 month later to apply for US.

I maybe right or wrong, but methinks having two visas already on your passport unused and going ahead to apply for US visa is uncalled for which ought not to have happened.

Visas are not decorations or souvenirs to be put on passports. To me, I believe the VO sees you as not yet serious to travel to the US that you should first use the ones you have first before coming to apply for US visa.

I know no one can give any odds on visa approval. A friend was denied in January, and applied in July and was denied. But he has visa to Germany and France on his passport but yet to use the visa's for both countries, the VO asked him during his last interview why didn't he use up the visa before applying for a US visa and he replied that he has plans of going to Europe later in the year. Now he is planning to travel to Europe and be back. When can he apply for US visa again, like how many months can he wait before applying again. He is scared of a 3rd denial in 1 year. He has a good job, among the lucky one's to have secured a job shortly after school and has been working for 8 years now with same company.

Yes you can pick up her passport. Go with a signed letter showing she authorized you to pick up her passport, make a photocopy of your passport data page and also her own, then you can pick up her passport.

How is your mum related to the person in the U.S. Is she her mum, if yes that will be the only way she can apply for a green card while she is in the US, if she is not, then she stands a chance to be on the 10 years growing ban list for misrepresenting her visa use. Why will your aunt spoil her chances when she can pay for her trip within her 6 months duration which allows her to be back after her visit to Nigeria. Your aunt should not act like she doesn't know what it is when you overstay your visit in the US.

Mum travelled to the US a year ago with auntie's kids. She went on a 2 years multiple entry visa. Auntie didn't allow her to come back after 6 months (as required) as she wanted mum to help with school runs until the kids settled down. She attempted to file for papers for her but apparently, that would take ages to come out. Mum doesn't mind staying for up to a year. She had been to the US thrice in the past and would be glad if this overstay would mean visa denial to the US in future. She doesn't like the solitary lifestyle. She is finally coming back to Nigeria in a couple of days, after one year of stay.

Now here is the problem; I'm hoping to invite mum to the UK around August next year. I'm a bit worried this US cock-up has ruined her chances of visiting me in the UK in future. Any thoughts guys?

Their application process is straight forward but the embassy in abuja is just there to collect people's money without issuing visas
