I’m so happy US lost even with “Balogun” on the pitch. They probably could have played better without him.him playing was just extra motivation for Belgium and that led to them having their best game of the tournament.
I wonder how Fifa is going to handle this loophole going forward because trump essentially confirmed he made a deal for balogun because other countries must be allowed to make such deals as well

I’m trying to imagine super eagles in a game of this intensity and crowd noise. Can they withstand it ?

Mexico is about to pull another upset. They will use their intensity and crowd support to knock England out

If America’s best athletes played soccer, could they win the World Cup?
they won’t. That’s just their cope. Football isn’t just about the physicality if not African teams will be dominating. There’s the technical part ,the mental part , tactics as well. There’s no cheat code to it. That’s why no country dominates for a long time because there are several ways to get to the top unless in other sports like basketball or athletics where you just need the best talent.

Hopefully Chelle calls Samuel isife who looks like he has a higher ceiling at RB compared to this two guys and Anthony Dennis for midfield as well
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Diavolo: 11:06pm On Jan 14
I'm not sure why Chelle doesn't want to take our akor and lookman. We have chukwueze and fisayo on the bench that can come in and give us fresh legs.I hope it's not when we concede he will not make this same changes like Jpes did last final
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Diavolo: 10:16pm On Jan 14
We need chukwueze for akor and fisayo for Onyedika. Will get us more bite

Oya now bro . We agree to disagree. One love
Odunayaw:
I am focused on the only incident I didn't catch in the game.

Now, the vid Banky shared has nothing more than the mouthing of "it's a team game" to which I conditioned the exaggeration to IF that's the only video on it.

The problem here is your refusal to engage what I said instead of your strawman. And except you have videos for me to see what happened in this incident spare me the sanctimony.

If this is not condemnation enough for the walk out on the team, I'm happy to disappoint you.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Diavolo: 1:27am On Jan 06
But clearly that wasn't the only incident. That was just one out of a number of and people already mentioned that to you and you had even previously commented on those ones. And even the "the" incident you are talking about is his behaviour there acceptable. Who gives him the right to be shouting at his teammates in that manner and shoving the captain aside and saying nobody should fucking talk to him. Sticking to that incident alone, how do you justify that and say people are exaggerating. Whether "the" incident alone or the other stupid ones he did, none should be tolerated and everyone apart from you and the other moniker have rightly condemned him.
Odunayaw:
You're being obtuse and it's ridiculous.

I am clearly speaking of one incidence hence article "the" before incidence. If you're not quick enough to see the context to the video BankyGee posted then I offer you my pity.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Diavolo: 12:58am On Jan 06
But isn't it obvious that that's not all there is to it. There are 3 more unacceptable behaviors to it and people are rightly calling the whole event out. You now trying to water it down as if the noise is just about one thing is ridiculous. I'm sure you are smarter than how you are sounding right now. By no stretch of the imagination were those actions misunderstand or peoples reactions exaggerated and those words should never have been used by now if you were not trying to defend and downplay his horrible behavior because of bias and fake fan love.
Odunayaw:
You're being obtuse.

"IF THIS IS ALL THERE IS TO IT..."

It's literally staring you in the face. Don't bother getting on my mention if you are too thick.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Diavolo: 12:39am On Jan 06
You are trying to be clever by half. So which of his actions were misunderstood or exaggerated because we both know if it was Nwabali that did this rubbish he did people would have called for him to be sent home. None of his actions wee misunderstood neither are people reactions exaggerated, his actions were unacceptable and condemable and people have been rightly doing so.
Odunayaw:
The least you can do is to read patiently. I said I was looking for videos of the incidence. Does this not tell you of particularity? It really doesn't cost much to carefully read.

Here's my quote from barely 10 mins after the game.

So what are you on about?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Diavolo: 12:19am On Jan 06
Bro don't do this. You have been trying your best to defend an unacceptable behavior and frankly it's laughable. The videos only showed were he was shouting at lookman and shoving ndidi aside which is bad but that's even the smallest of his offences. After that he stopped making runs and asked to be substituted a very grave offence. Furthermore after the game he stormed to the dressing room and didn't join the team huddle or prayers after the match,he also didn't even acknowledge the fans. In addition there's a video of him also storming off to the team bus. So which of this other 3 Offences are exaggerated. Even if you excuse the shouting as passion, the other ones nko?. Even if our fanship let's be reasonable and remove bias
Odunayaw:
Read bro. Read

I'm scouring for more videos of the incidence BECAUSE IF this is all there is to it then it is exaggerated
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Diavolo: 11:37pm On Jan 05
I've noticed a pattern. When Nwabali starts his madness and ndidi tries to calm the situation,he gets shoved aside and I think that has happened more than once, now today osihmen too has done the same thing. Is it that they don't respect ndidi enough or are those two people just too hot headed. We need a firm captain that can take charge especially with the pitbulls we have

SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Diavolo: 11:08pm On Jan 05
The fan boys that are defending osihmen actions by insinuating people are dunking on him is laughable. This isn't an isolated incident,he has been doing it consistently for a long time now and several times during games. Against Gabon he had the whole pitch to run and score in the dying minute,he missed it,didn't anyone get in his face? They all encouraged him and moved on. If his teammates make mistakes he should talk to them with respect. We are still dealing with Nwabali horrible attitude we can't afford another one. Have two players with terrible attitudes at the same time is a recipe for disaster
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Diavolo: 10:54pm On Jan 05
His head is not correct. So many chances other players have created for him and he missed it,did anyone get in his face?.players can make mistakes and wrong decisions so what's the big deal. So because they didn't pass to you you decide to stop making runs and then ask to be substituted and now also storming off to the dressing room,is that acceptable behavior. He's not the only one that has emotions,he should manage it properly like any right thinking adult.
Subzero0477:
Yes I'm defending Osimhen because Lookman frustrated me too especially in the first half, Osimhen would run his ass off to create spaces and chances but when it comes to Lookmans turn he will try to turn every touch into a shot on goal, Osimhen later lashed out of pent up frustration in the second half but like I said he was justified to air out his grievances, I hope Lookman understands he's not totally innocent in this saga and fix up
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Diavolo: 10:33pm On Jan 05

SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Diavolo: 10:26pm On Jan 05
I'm trying to understand something here, the two monikers that are defending osihmen actions,do you guys think na una love am pass or what. We should be able to separate fanship from reality and condemnation of a behavior isn't hatred or beefing the person. Oshimen behavior is unacceptable. He should be made to apologize to the whole team and even the fans for walking out on them. Next time he does this he should be sent home from the camp. The team is greater than the individual parts. Na everytime he go dey shout for other players,as per na hin gather all of them now. Respect is important and all players must respect each other

Eric Chelle is not that coach.
He might be a good coach but his 442 diamond tactics and personnel choice is definitely not it
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Diavolo: 4:39am On Dec 12, 2025
I think the list is okay. No point inviting players Chelle won't use like uche. It's clear Chelle picked his 23 man list that's going to be sponsored by caf while the 5 extra were handpicked by NFf for their own selfish interest. Players like usman and Fargo will just be used as training cones just like the way papa Mohamed was pushed until he got a move abroad. We should be fine with Chelle 23 man list

As someone who has always criticized Chelle choice of formation and personnel use,I give this to him. A very good choice that can be interpreted in different ways depending on the flow of the game. Kudos to him and his team on this. Hopefully we win which I think we will
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Diavolo: 7:32pm On Nov 13, 2025
I hope Chelle can see with the 433. We have even created more chances while being more stable than 442. I hope he takes out Iwobi and brings on Onyedika
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Diavolo: 6:43pm On Nov 13, 2025
I think Chelle has a thing against holding down the midfield. It's obvious ndidi and nwobi are tired, even akor. Just take out any two of those three and bring in 2 midfielders. That way we stabilize the game and can even pass the ball to the wingers he just brought on. 2 wingers and 2 Stirkers without services is just a waste of bodies

Mujtahida:
Ohh my. So you expect Chelle to publicly condemn Nwabali? And not condemning him means he supports him? Do you know what goes on in the dressing room?

Ohh oo. Nobody likes to be condemned publicly even when we are wrong. Have you ever been publicly condemned by your boss or superior?

I criticized Nwabali but I was happy with Chelle's responses. That's the wise thing to do.
fair enough.Optics is very important. I remember during Rohr time when he always downplayed the team, people complained about it. According to you those people should not have said anything because they don't know what happens in the dressing room. Nwabalis behavior isn't a one time thing,it has become a pattern. He can defend his players without outrightly encouraging such by saying it's warriors mentality. That's why coaches go for media training. Will give him the excuse of English not being his first language
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Diavolo: 5:15pm On Oct 26, 2025
Maybe it's just me. I don't really rate a coach that plays diamond formation in this age and time and with the type of players we have. Playing players out of position and now encouraging bad behavior. What Nwabali is doing should be condemned. That's not warrior mentality,it's a disaster waiting to happen. If we meet south American teams in a crucial game,we are toast cos they will purposely be targeting Nwabali and he will fall for it. Either he gets carded like we have seen many times or lose concentration like afcon final. He should rein him in

This tribe argument of a thing is really stupid and I'm not sure who introduced it into this thread but it's a very silly thing to be arguing about.

If a player is a good, he's good. Everyone will see the evidence on the pitch.
I come here to read very intelligent and informed opinions and updated news. Only for some people to be dragging us to the abyss of frankly unintelligent and dumb takes about tribalism and how one region are the only ones that should be selected even if there are other very obvious reasons for failure of the team. The mod needs to do better to limit those types of conversation so this informed thread doesn't get dragged down to the level of beer parlour yarns.

tribalism and nepotism like how. Can you show how you arrived at the tribalism part? Cos I see a team that's well balanced across the regions of the country. We should all start talking like intelligent adults. Teams win and lose sometimes. Even if they pack players from any region, they will still lose sometimes, they won't always win.

I wont tak this excuse for look i wtched all his games.. all the 3 games and i spot it immidiatly tht something was off abt him.
He became more selfish nd syarted playing "Hero football". Even when he had to pass to osimhen he chose to dribble.

Playing out position wont stop him from givong passes to osimhen but nope he wants his own goals.. lets call spade a spade.
Two things can be right at the same time, doesn't have to be one or the other. Does he play hero ball yes because he shoots in areas where he's expected to pass but what if that's because we are using him wrongly. Put him as a striker where he collects the ball and creates spaces for himself and shoots instead of in situations where he collects the ball and he's expected to make a pass like a chukwueze or Iwobi would do

Exactly bro even me with no caoching experience or whatsoever saw it that lookman is out of form.
If not for lookman double yellow card we would be here lamenting without knowing that our play off qalification link was on the bench
was lookman out of form or was he played out of position. First game he played him on the left, second game he played him on the right which is even worse. Lookman is a striker or supporting striker. No matter how good a player is playing him out of position will reduce his output.
