Investment / Re: Changing My Stock Broker? by dibosa187: 3:13pm On Dec 20, 2007
Hello Dis Guy

just read ur piece so I thought I should react thus.

Alot of what I do in the course of my job involves dealings on shares : verifying share certificates, preparing documents for placing lien on shares, giving instructions for lien placed on shares to be released and lastly Inter-member transfer of shares from one stockbroking firm to the other

I can assure you that we effect these Inter-Member transfer of shares on a weekly basis and I don't think its as difficult as they make it sound on this thread.

You all have a great holiday

Talking about stocks that will get you rich in 2008, I'll urge everyone to key into the current Zenith Bank Plc Public Offer and Rights Issues respectively. This is a gold mine.

Hello nairalanders,

Investment / Re: Changing My Stock Broker? by dibosa187: 6:59pm On Dec 10, 2007
To move your shares from one stockbroking firm to another you need to have the underlisted documents :

(a) Inter-Member Transfer form duly executed by the Shareholder, the resident stockbroking firm (your current stockbroker) and the target stockbroking firm (your prospective stockbroking firm)
(b) Letter of Transfer of Shares addressed to the Director-General of the Nigeria Stock Exchange.
(c) Copy of CSCS Statement containing shares sought to be transferred.

It might be easy to think that a stockbroker would not sign but then you have to realize that there are a lot of watchdogs to cater for the interests of investors. You’ve got the Nigerian Stock Exchange and the Securities and Exchange Commission to make a report about any erring stockbroker who refuses to sign and stamp your inter-member transfer form.

Family / Re: How To Divorce My Nigerian Husband? by dibosa187: 7:52am On Jul 05, 2007
Hello, I read Leilah's piece and feel really concerned.

Leilah, are you sure you want to divorce ur husband?

I'll advice you speak with a lawyer who'd review the circumstances and determine the applicable law and thereafter advise you on which court to file you application for divorce (called "Petition"wink. I'm a lawyer working with a corporate body so I can't be of much assistance but then you can call me on +23418771123 or reach me through dibosa187@yahoo.com so I could link you up to one (thatz if you are serious)
Travel / Re: Will Lagos Ever Be Like Abuja? by dibosa187: 7:41am On Jul 05, 2007
LOL, I think the question should be whether Abuja will decay like Lagos. My people, I've lived in both cities and I can tell you that Lagos cannot and will not be like Abuja. Where are the high-brow areas in Lag? Those are just regular areas in Abj, talk about the state of roads in abuja, the serene atmosphere, all these is lacking in eko. Anyone who has hung out at the millenium park will wonder where you can site that kind of structure in eko without area boys taking over. have you noticed that out beaches have decayed?

Abeg, lets not psyche ourselves. It can't be like Abj but then we can always try to improve the state of things here and this should be done through proper geographical and physical planning. Let the authorities ensure that the satellite areas like Lekki and Ajah are properly planned because I've noticed that seems to be none there.

You all have a great day.

Career / Re: Money Or Fulfilment: Which Do You Prefer? by dibosa187: 7:27am On Jul 05, 2007
Hello everyone, would like to contribute my little piece because when I started out my career (in the legal profession) I got faced with a similar situation.

First, I'll say its a function of the particular individual. There cannot be a general rule in this kind of situation. In my own case, I knew I could use the extra money (particularly in areas like taking professional exams and going ahead with graduate studies).

I won't say I'm not fufilled in what I do but then I might have had more trips from my previous job.

In all, I have no regrets that I went for the better paying job. At the end of the day, the choice lies in the individual and his/her goals and aspiration and what they want from life.

Investment / Re: Looking For A Buyer For Your Shares? by dibosa187: 7:10am On Jul 03, 2007
I don't think there's any issue with Zenith shares, just that people think they can dispose because of the capital appreciation but then I'm of the opinion that it would rise (possibility of being listed in the London Stock Exchange)
Investment / Re: How Do I Get A CSCS Number? by dibosa187: 6:54am On Jul 03, 2007
Hi everyone, its correct to say one can either go through a stockbroking firm or open an Individual Investor CSCS account. However, I'd appreciate it if anyone throws more light on the individual investor CSCS account cos I can't really figure that out
Business / Re: I Need Advice On How To Start Dealing In Stocks by dibosa187: 7:13am On Jun 29, 2007
Hello everyone, i must tell you i'm impressed with the contributions made so far to this topic. Ugochi has displayed an amazing knowledge of stocks and dazzled pratically everyone who read his piece. Gochi, be sure to know that I'll contact you and add you to my yahoo messenger.

First, let me ask the initiator of the topic. have you done the necessary documentation required to enable you sell the shares, because obviously having inherited the shares they would be in the name of the deceased person.

Al I'm trying to say is that should you decide to sell the shares, you would have to effect a change in name from that of the deceased person to your own name wither at the company's registrars (if it is still in share certificate form) or at the CSCS through your stockbrokers (if the shares are in dematerialized form)

You all have a great day.
