Confused human being! You want one Nigeria but you don't want to mix and interact with your fellow one Nigerian.

Your fathers fought a war to keep them together and stop their secession. You still oppose the creation of an independent country for them - to the extent you support your federal government's incarceration of the leader of their nationalist movement.

The same you will at the same time will be shouting stay in your region! What else is confusion if not this. Oga so far as one Nigeria exists, you will continually cohabitate with people from all over the country because freedom of movement is a fundamental human right that you cannot stop.

So, stop barking like a rabid dog.

You are an economist? Really what school
That's not the subject of discuss.
I know you want to resort to name calling, which is the stock in trade of most of you here.

The fact remains that education is the ultimate human capital development to any society and not cash gifts in the name of start-up capitals.

Doling out large sums of money to people to invest is a recipe to hyperinflation as most of those people that were given money they did not work for will embark on spending spree and jamborees.

It might interest you to know that inadequate capital is not the number one reason people don't go into business, instead most people lack the vision, entrepreneurial foresight and innovation required to start up a business venture.

These things can be addressed by education.

I insist that education remains the ultimate human capital development as against the cash gifts and empowerment you're proposing.

FiveFootNinja:
Cool story, but there's too much emphasis on the infrastructure. How is the infrastructure alone going to guarantee foreign investment? Don't you think a skilled workforce is just as relevant?

If you have all the infrastructure in the whole wide world, but there's no productive economic activity, then what's even your objective? What's your end goal? Where are the direct revenue streams to pay back the loan mentioned in the OP's hypothetical?
That's where education comes in. I first talked about skilled work force before talking infrastructures.

Remember he said community A invested in education - that will guarantee skilled work force and will make available the labor force required for those industries to thrive.

The ultimate human capital development remains education and not doling out cash gifts to people to use as start up capital.
PoliticsRe: Economics 101 (village A Vs Village B ) by Dieselman: 12:47am On Apr 04, 2025
mrvitalis:
APC is doing exactly what village A did since 2015 .. Little wonder why the economy collapsed?
Most people that said B are giving myopic answers. Actually A will be better off in the long run than community B.

This is because the society already has all the necessary conditions required for the community to move from primary ( agrarian) to secondary ( industrialized) economy.

With the presence of schools it means they will have an educated populace with technical know-how. With quality infrastructures in place - good road network, good railway system, stable and constant electricity. This means that the society already has all the necessary features required for industrialization to take place, hence it's now qualified to attract foreign investors in it's economy - we assume it's citizens do not have the resources to invest in the economy.

What will happen here is that most of the people in community B will end up going to community A to invest those resources - where there's enabling environment and this will ensure rapid development of community A while B will remain stagnant with a handful of good residential buildings because of their successful children in diaspora where they do their business.

Remember, that you're at the mercy of the people and government of the community where you do your business. It requires only one government policy for you to lose all that you've labored for.

Again, even without unfavorable government policy, there will naturally be knowledge and technological transfer. As those citizens of community A who are working in the industries established by community B citizens will learn through the ropes at the long run and will branch out to start their own firms backed up by their own favourable government policies. Example is the technological transfer between America and China after American firms moved their production plants from America to China in search of cheap labor. Today China has learned and overtaken them.

So, human capital development no matter how desirable it is cannot be used to compare infrastructural capital development, as the later has more macro economic benefits to the former.

Besides, the ultimate human capital development is education and not just doling out cash to people to invest. Most of the people given those monies will end up squandering them.

This is an Economist speaking.

Tinubu Moves To Grow Nigeria’s Economy Through Gas

Tinubu plans to inaugurate three critical gas infrastructure projects in Delta and Imo states.

Nigeria President Bola Tinubu will soon inaugurate three critical gas infrastructure projects being undertaken by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) and partners in Delta and Imo States in line with his commitment to significantly leverage gas to grow Nigeria’s economy.

The projects, two in Imo and one in Delta, according to a release issued on Friday by presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, support the federal government’s effort to grow value from the nation’s gas assets while eliminating gas flaring.

The delivery of the projects was accelerated from the inception of the administration in keeping with the overall objective of deepening domestic gas supply as a critical enabler for economic prosperity.

The statement, which was silent on when the projects located in Kwale (Delta state) and Ohaji South (Imo state) will be inaugurated by the President, however, said upon inauguration, the projects will increase gas supply to the domestic market by approximately 500mmscf/d, creating a better investment climate and promoting balanced economic growth cumulatively.

The release listed the projects to include AHL Gas Processing Plant 2 (GPP – 2) – 200mmscf/d which is an expansion to the Kwale Gas Processing Plant (GPP – 1), which currently supplies about 130MMscf/d of gas to the domestic market. The processing plant is designed to process 200MMscf/d of rich gas and deliver lean gas through the OB3 Gas Pipeline. This additional gas supply will support further rapid industrialization of Nigeria. The plant will also produce about 160,000 MTPA of Propane and 100,000 MTPA of Butane, which will reduce the dependency on LPG Imports. The AHL Gas Plant is being developed by AHL Limited, an incorporated Joint Venture owned by NNPC Limited and SEEPCO.

The 200mmscfd NNPC- AHL GPP2 has started injecting gas and scheduled to ramp up to 180mmscfd if not 200mmscfd by end of May, 2024.

The second project scheduled for presidential inauguration is ANOH Gas Processing Plant (AGPC) – 300MMscf/d which is an integrated 300MMscf/d capacity gas processing plant designed to process non-associated gas from the Assa North-Ohaji South field in Imo State. The plant will produce dry gas, condensate, and LPG.

The gas from ANOH gas plant will significantly increase domestic gas supply, leading to increased power generation and accelerated industrialization. The ANOH Gas Plant is being developed by ANOH Gas Processing Company, an incorporated Joint Venture owned by NNPC Limited and Seplat Energy Plc on a 50-50 basis.

AGPC (300mmscfd) has been mechanically completed since late December and in the process of finalizing pre-inauguration activities.

The third project is the ANOH-OB3 CTMS Gas Pipeline Project which involves the engineering, procurement, and construction of 36”x23.3km ANOH-OB3 Project.

The Transmission Gas Pipeline will evacuate dry gas from the Assa North-Ohaji South (ANOH) primary treatment facility (PTF) to OB3 Custody Transfer Metering Station (CTMS) for delivery into the OB3 pipeline system. About 600MMscf/d is estimated to be available from two separate 2 x 300MMscf/d capacity gas processing production trains from AGPC & SPDC JV.

The 23.3km Anoh- OB3 PPL is scheduled for mechanical completion by May 15, 2024.

Don't mind them. That's the handiwork of Hope Uzodinma. But he has failed because their appeal court has earlier during the week ruled that nomination of a candidate is a pre election matter and also an internal affair which a member of another political party has no right to challenge.

This is to tell you how inconsistent the Nigerian judiciary can be. Speaking from both sides of their mouth. The judiciary portends the greatest danger to our democracy. They always write judgment for the highest bidder.

Ikenga should simply appeal the matter. Since the appeal court is the highest arbiter in national assembly matters, he should cite their judgment on the presidential election regarding candidates nomination. Let's see how they will contradict themselves again this time around.

Band of rogues parading themselves as judges!
