Many people are saying what they know nothing about. I used to live in PH and my 2 bedroom apartment in Woji cost 200k per annum. When I came to Lagos, my 3 bedroom apartment in Lekki before chevron drive cost over 1M. Some 3 bedroom cost 1.5M around my house, in Lekki phase 1, it's much higher. I agree PH houses cost but they are less compared to Lagos!

How Bishop David Abioye's driver became a Muslim

– Ismail said he was very happy to be among Muslims in Abuja on his first fasting as a Muslim.

A former driver to renowned Living Faith Church Bishop, David Abioye has converted from Christianity to Islam.

Celebrating his thirteenth Jumaat as a Muslim, the Muslim convert said he has adopted a new name, Ismail Haruna.

Ismail formerly known as Nicholas Martins said he is happier as a Muslim than he was as a Christian.

“My former name was Nicholas Martins but I converted to become a Muslim,” Ismail said.

“I was converted at Games Village, Abuja, I am really happy to be a Muslim (laughs excitedly),” he said.

He said he made the decision to drop Christianity after an incident relating to finance mismanagement at the Living Faith, Garden of Faith Church in Kaduna, Kaduna state.

Although he did not give details into the crime, Ismail told NAIJ.com he was convinced to drop Christianity when he sacked from his job for accepting doing wrong.

“I was a driver to bishop Abioye in Winners, I started working in Canaan Land in 2001 and I worked for five years.

“Something happened and they said that when you say the truth and the same truth will set you free,” Ismail said.

He said: “But, I was the only person that rose up and said this is what happened and this is the truth.”

Ismail said to his surprise after telling the truth – which was expected to save him – he was laid off alongside two other colleagues of his that were truthful.

“They laid us off and said we should stop working in the ministry.

“And I now discovered and said if I am telling you the truth and you are not setting me free and other people that I know that did what we were doing that was not good,” he said.

He said all the other people who committed the same crime retained their jobs after swearing with the bible and denying the crimes.

“Even today, I know they are there; they left them there and we that said the truth you refused allowing us continue with our jobs.”

Ismail said the incident made him move to Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.

He told NAIJ.com said he had to suffer for about nine years before he could get another job to earn a living.

“I now converted to a Muslim because of what happened,” he added.

He added: “From 2004 till this year, I was not going to church again because I was just alone thinking.”

He said he felt disappointed and his mind was completely made up the moment the truth failed him.

During the period he started the new job, he began to admire the lifestyle of his employer. “When I saw him, I knew that this man is really doing what God wanted us to do,” he said.

“Because there are many things that I am seeing now that I was not seeing before that I did not even know about.

“I was born and brought up in the north, I spent like 28 years there, grew up there but when I came to Abuja, I started practising Islam and got converted,” he said.

Speaking about his new religion, Ismail said he was very happy to be among Muslims in Abuja on his first fasting as a Muslim.

“This is the first time I am doing a fasting as a Muslim and this is the first time I am worshipping as a Muslim on this holy prayer ground (laughing),” he said.

He said he was convinced he is at the right place.

He further called on all especially Christians to be weary of people who claim they are trutful than people who are able to own up to their wrongdoings.

“I do no have any real friends, but I have my family. My family is my only friend, and I love them dearly. My parents are my world. I don’t talk to strangers. This is who I am, and this is the life I live, and I fill my days sitting and thinking, talking to my mother about life and going for walks nearby home. I like drinking tea. I am a happy person.”

Goodluck Jonathan says he will not contest in 2019

Former president Goodluck Jonathan has said that he will not contest for the presidency in 2019.

Jonathan became the first sitting president to be defeated in an election and he made history by handing over to Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress without contesting the result in court.

There were reports that the former president declared his presidential interest today, Wednesday, July 6 but he has come out to deny this.

Vanguard reports that Ikechuwkw Eze who is the media aide to Jonathan said the report was false.

Eating dolphin meat may seem abhorrent to most Americans, but many cultures around the world include marine mammals in their diets. For instance, people on the tropical island of St. Vincent in the Caribbean can legally hunt and eat dolphins. But these culinary traditions have a health downside: The meat and blubber contain high levels of mercury, which can contribute to disorders ranging from memory loss to seizures.

Much of the mercury pollution in the ocean comes from gold mining. Once in the water, it can be converted to another chemical called methylmercury. Small organisms ingest the mercury and methylmercury; when predators eat those animals, they accumulate even higher levels of the toxic compounds. Because marine mammals are near the top of the food chain, they often carry the most mercury in their tissues.

Researchers studied dolphin consumption in St. Vincent, where about two-thirds of the residents eat marine mammal meat. The team members analyzed meat and blubber from 28 spinner dolphins and 11 Atlantic spotted dolphins that had been caught near the island. They also tested processed unidentified cetacean meat, probably from dolphins or pilot whales, from a market. People usually process the meat by cutting it into pieces and drying it to make a beef jerky-like snack.

The fresh, unprocessed tissue contained an average of 0.92 to 1.57 micrograms of mercury per gram, the researchers report in Marine Pollution Bulletin. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration considers 1 microgram per gram to be the “action level” at which authorities could advise people to cut down on seafood consumption. And the processed meat was far worse — it contained an average of 7.59 micrograms of mercury and 6.05 micrograms of methylmercury per gram of tissue.

The results suggest that dolphin meat could pose a health risk to the people of St. Vincent, the team suggests. If public health officials advise residents to eat less of it, dolphin populations could benefit — but managers will need to make sure that substituting other meats doesn’t create another conservation problem. — Roberta Kwok | 6 November 2014

On Tuesday, July 5, a 36-year old business man identified as Rupesh Kumar Mohanani strangled his Congolese wife, Cynthia Vechel cuts her body into pieces and them ablaze. Cynthia, who happens to be a club dancer in Congo and since 2012, has been living with her husband in Hyderabad.

Rupesh Mohanni was caught by people in Madanpally village in Shamshabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad, India after they found him pouring petrol on a bag containing the body pieces and burning it. It was also reported that on Sunday, July 4, the man and his wife had a misunderstanding.

According to the police, Mohanani and his wife were having frequent quarrels over financial matters as he had suffered losses in stock market. He was also suspicious that she was cheating on him, claiming she frequently chatted with her male friends through Facebook account.

The deputy commissioner of police (Shamshabad Zone), Sunpreet Singh said: “In a fit of rage he throttled her neck and killed her brutally with an intent to screen out the evidence, he cut the body of deceased into pieces with knife, a hammer and an axe, placed them in a bag and left the house in a car to dispose the dead body.”

However, Mohanani had gone to Congo in 1999 and was working as a salesman in a departmental store. He used to visit a club for entertainment, where he met Cynthia in 2006. They fell in love and married in a church in 2008. The couple came to India in 2012 and had applied for Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card. They have an eight-year-old daughter.
