The truth is that I see no evidence this government is treating the situation with the urgency it deserves. When innocent people are being killed and abducted regularly, citizens shouldn't be shalaying on behalf of the government. Abeg, no need for the gaslighting, bros.

Doing something and doing enough are two completely different things. If what is currently being done is enough, then why do these attacks keep happening repeatedly with little or no deterrence? Why do communities across the country still feel abandoned and vulnerable to these animals?

It's been over two weeks now, yet na still shalaye upandan we dey see. Before we know it, another attack will happen somewhere else and these victims will be forgotten.

Shalaye no go rescue the kidnapped victims or bring back the people they’ve violently killed. And we can all see that your guy's government, from top to bottom, is full of terrorist apologists. If not, people within his government wouldn’t be calling those animals “our brothers,” and they certainly wouldn’t be rewarding them with wages higher than those earned by minimum-wage workers like teachers or, in some cases, even those who are meant to protect the country.

Stop using shalaye to brush aside the ineptitude of the Tiefnubu-led government in the face of the constant killings and kidnappings of innocent citizens.

At the end of the day, leadership is about finding solutions, not constantly explaining why solutions are impossible. And if the job is too difficult for the master strategist, make he just resign….and no bother to contest for a second term.

If you, as a normal citizen who isn’t part of Tiefnubu’s cabal, can readily create all sorts of excuses on his behalf, then I can understand why your guy is moving like a blind bat without people around him telling him the true situation on the ground.

By the way, the question shouldn’t just be where you deploy the 10 policemen. The question should be why, after knowing for years that these robberies keep happening repeatedly, you’ve refused to mobilise every available resource to tackle the problem.

If robberies are happening in six estates at the same time, are the 10 policemen the only security personnel available? What happened to the army, navy, air force, dss, civil defence, local vigilantes, efcc, private security outfits, customs, and every other resource at your disposal?

That’s exactly my point. You’re acting as if the government only has one tool available when that’s clearly not the case.

The insecurity issue didn’t start yesterday. The so-called master strategist spent years in opposition criticising the previous government over the same problem. If after all that time the only answer is, “We don’t have enough policemen,” then what exactly was the strategy? And why is he looking for a second term?

Maybe you should share this take with the families of those who have lost their lives to these demons, or those whose loved ones are currently in captivity.

the nigerian army is pushing a recruitment exercise, bit the other harsh truth imho is that the people most interested/suited for the army as grunts/recruits are northerners - poor norherners who are already ideologically compromised

we also have a problem of a corrupt military hierarchy who continue to divert funds to their personal projects. we are discussing a project now where an OATT is saying money from a construction project should cover his new hotel as well. so how much funding for hardware, fuel, equipment etc is being diverted?

The fact is, everybody is aware that Tiefnubu is fantastically corrupt to the core. That’s why everybody dey carry move mad, because na “I chop, you chop” naim be Tiefnubu’s slogan.

The so-called corrupt military hierarchy are people he personally chose and placed in those positions, and they are simply modelling his body language and actions in the way they carry out their duties.

Most men here already deal with different levels of urgent matters in their personal lives and still find a way to prioritise them to achieve whatever goals they have set for themselves at the end of the day. I don’t see how a so-called master strategist would spend years as an opposition leader calling out these same issues and still not have a clear roadmap on how to deal with them.

The fact that you’re asking where they should deploy our already overstretched soldiers is baffling, to be honest. It’s not as if we are fighting a conventional war, so I do not see how waiting for new army recruits to come on board would solve the problem. Like I stated earlier, they should use all the resources we currently have instead of doing nothing.

We have the navy, air force, dss, mopol,customs, efcc and others already trained in the use of firearms. Tiefnubu and Makinde should deploy those available resources alongside local hunters, vigilantes, Civil Defence, their agberos, and other private security outfits to tackle the issue. This should be done across states experiencing these issues because, when there’s a will, there’s always a way. The fact is that your guy is not willing to do his job!

By the way, it is not a hidden fact that insecurity has been a problem for a long time, and the so-called master strategist, while in opposition, was busy putting the blame on the then president. As someone who harboured the ambition of becoming president long before he eventually got there, he has had more than enough time to think about solutions and how to tackle this crisis head-on.

I make bold to say that it is the clear lack of leadership, care for human lives, his nonchalant attitude towards these killings, and failure to take any action to deter them that has emboldened these demons. He’s literally surrendered and allowed the continued killings of innocent citizens because they are not his own children.

For my life, I never see any fighter wey dey fold hand dey shalaye while collecting punches during a fight. Abi you don see am before? Tiefnubu and his people should stop all the shalaye and let him do his job!

We caught robbers in my estate in a persons house. As in they took one of them straight from the house to the police car. Even with the way the police were acting, people were already muttering that the police would let them go. And after two days they did. Likely for small settlement.

With police like that who will inform on hideouts and locations - especially as for police and military every kidnap is at its root a windfall where they simply wait for their cut from the ransom.

We also have an army personnel shortfall that needs to be filled with non northerners 😑

Let’s use your personal business as an example. If local bandits or foreigners keep attacking your business, I’m sure you’ll put up a better fight to protect your livelihood than what Tiefnubu and his goons are currently doing. As a matter of fact, if Nigeria was a private institution that kept coming under attack, nobody would be defending the MD if he kept putting the lives of staff at risk instead of solving the problem.

For starters, Tiefnubu should deploy a sizeable number of army, air force, navy and police personnel from barracks across the Western region, working alongside local hunters and even the agberos he uses during elections, to comb those forests. He should direct the DSS and Customs officers to gather intelligence and be ready to engage when necessary. After all, no be like say dem no know how to use weapons too.

Bring together Civil Defence, local vigilantes and able-bodied men willing to support the effort. The truth is that the president is so useless that even the governors seem completely unbothered. All of dem dey more interested in embezzling our common wealth than solving the country’s problems.

If him and his goons are this clueless when it comes to internal security and can’t even protect human lives, why is he vying for another term? We are practically at war already, yet the tadpole is busy strategising about how to steal another election when he is clearly incapable of providing even the most basic security for the citizens of this country.

All these shalaye and excuses won’t cut it. It’s not as if na 2 million armed men carry out these recent atrocities. He should do is job! Any other institution with a dullard like Tiefnubu would have long sacked the weyrey da nu.

Plenty factors can easily push them into negative earnings e.g. agberos fee, police, expensive fuel, repairs, and more. Plus, you’re forgetting that most of the guys running these types of businesses don’t even own the keke or the vehicle. They’re either renting them or on hire purchase. So after paying the actual owners of these vehicles, how much do you really think is left for them to take home at the end of the day.
