N-POWER BENEFICIARIES BEGINS NATION-WIDE PROTEST,CALL FOR PERMANENCY. Moneke Leonard . not fewer than 500.000 law abiding Nigeria citizens had recently lost their jobs and sent back to the street to add up to the larger number of the unmanaged unemployed population in the country . Just few weeks ago 500.000 Npower beneficiaries which consist of the batch A & B were said to have been forcefully disengaged out of the program after being held unjudicially for over 4years in the scheme with the hope for permanency from the federal government which has been assured them permanency since the 2018 electoral campaign. According to Emeka Ajike ,one of the sacked beneficiaries of the scheme had said; though the program was initially made clear in the beginning to last for just a period of 2years which was suppose to have elapsed in December 2018. According to him at the time when beneficiaries had lay off their mind from the program haven reached the date for proposed dis-engagement as contracted for,the federal Government came up with a proposal for permanency if voted into Government for a second term . With this a new hope was assured as they took it upon them to ensure they win their units and ward for the APC lead Administration . To him he claimed the program made them participate in grassroot initiative with ful commitment and sacrifices. From time to time the program kept optioning different permanency opportunities like the N-powers community police and the others .this made them believe in the reality of our permanency not untill we were given a surprise dis-engagement without a warning as we have left many opportunities for this Npower program hoping it was permanent job. If the Government haven't brought up this program ,we would have grown beyond this capitalist system where we worked for 4years yet has nothing to show of it . Aliyu ,a northern beneficiary in Rivers State said in porthatcourt ,as a teacher he was forced to come to work all day as they were told it was a permanent job and today it's really frustrating haven been sacked for his good services rendered. Today we have above civil service age since we are now above 35 which means this program was just a distruction to our career live . Another beneficiaries whose name remains anonymous claimed he left the military when his name was published since the Npower was assured to be converted as the proposed community police . According to him this is the worst Government ever without mission or vision .according to him he has been seeing productive governance in other countries where opportunities where given to the citizens but here in Nigeria only criminals and law breakers gets better opportunities . In Nigeria Amnesty is granted to criminals after being taken abroad for months to lavish funds ,they are still being paid for over 12years now without a stop . The repented Boko Haram a granted jobs into the Nigeria military etc but here are law abiding citizens who served the Government for 4yesrs are being abandoned like the criminals sentenced to suffer. Many Nigerians went as far as getting married and now with children hoping the job was a lifetime job . These youths have suddenly become another challenge the government has to make means for before it becomes an issue . This are Nigerian youths ,citizens and law abiding people and deserve the best . This are the people the National Assembly should stand for as representatives.these youths deserves better and not to be disengaged during a hard time like this .

The 500,000 Beneficiaries of the N-power program will on Thursday 9th July flood the city of Abuja to protest their sudden disengagement from the N-power program amids Coronavirus pandemic without a detailed exit plan or exit package. The N-power program inaugurated by the President Mohammadu Buhari led administration recorded a monumental sum of 500,000 beneficiaries who have been manning the unmanned classrooms, Health Centers and Agricultural extention units across the 774 LGAs of the Federation on a monthly Stipend of N30,000, and are being trained as large workforce for both the public and the private sectors. The design of the N-power program was such that the beneficiaries would through the program be linked to available jobs in both Government and Private Sectors, and some to Entrepreneurship with supports from the Government to further in their future endeavours after their programs as the Government promised not to send them back to the streets. In what appears penutive, the volunteers were suddenly disengaged by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development without a laid down exit plan or exit package, the reason they have spent years in the program as the Federal Government promised not to terminate their engagement without a concrete exit plan so as to reduce youth unemployment and support the plan of our dear President in lifting 1 million Nigerians out of poverty. The N-power beneficiary during the campaign for the 2019 General election recieved a promise from the Federal Government that their PVCs were their tickets to permanent employment, demanding that they re-elect President Mohammadu Buhari to gain sustainability of their program and perfection of the purpose of the program. Among the agitation of the trained N-power Volunteers is for the Federal Government to offer them permanent employment as citizens of their country or provide them with substantial exit package as they can not go hungry with their wives and Children especially now that COVID-19 has dealt with many economies of the world, job market saturated and opportunities too narrowed.

To FG: SACK 500,000 N-POWER GRADUATES AND CREATES A NEW TREND OF TERRO IN NIGERIA. The federal Government of Nigeria led by president Mohammedu Buhari is hereby advised to not to go on with the disengagement of her 500,000 thousand graduates who have successfully gone to school and served their fatherland (NYSC). Nigeria is currently facing challenges of high unemployment rate, insecurity, Book Haram, Banditry, Fulani herdsmen, disintegration, Corrupt leaders re-looting looted public funds and other social vices. If the government rejects her graduates then who will employ them? Life in Nigeria is very hard and the cost of going to school is hard too. No job after school. This is why so many Nigerian youths have resorted to crimes to survive. Because there is no hope even after going to school. How can a reasonable government sack 500,000 thousand people in this hard time of Covid 19 when things are so hard. Other countries are creating sustainable jobs instead our government has decided to sack her 500,000 thousand graduates rather than granting them permanent jobs. There so many agencies in Nigeria who have not carried out recruitment in decades while Nigerian youths die in anguish and abject poverty and impoverishment despite acquiring degrees as graduates of this nation. The federal government of Nigeria is hereby advised to permanent Npower job and create more job opportunities for unemployed youths to curb the hunger and higher unemployment rate to avoid the creation of the much speculated UNEMPLOYED GRADUATES RESISTANCE CORPS OF NIGERIA which is targeted to fight corrupt leaders, unemployment, looters of our public funds and heads of agencies who have over stayed in office. President Mohammedu Buhari is known as a man of integrity with zero tolerance to corruption but his government is been marred with corrupt leaders who embezzle our money and lie to Nigerians at will to feed school children who are at home with there parents. The police and the army are also human beings, they are bound by oath to fight crimes and protect lives and properties but the government is busy creating more pains and problems for them making their jobs harder by refusing to creates jobs for every one. Nigeria belongs to all of us.

Npower Breaking News:NASS has wielded into disengagement plan by FG to exit batches A and B BREAKING NEWS: NASS has wielded into the disengagement plan by FG to exit batches A and B NPower volunteers. The move became necessary following the out cry of the volunteers requesting FG to give them a permanent jobs. The leadership of the NASS will meet president Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday night and also the minister of FMHASD to appear before its adhoc committee on social investment program and social security to intimate the law makers on the plan the ministry have for the npower volunteers. The source stated that the minister of finance has also been invited to appear before the law makers on thursday 2nd July to explain to the plans the government has for it's teaming youths. Some law makers stated that the move to intervene became absolutely necessary because npower serves as a means of livelihood for almost 85% of the beneficiaries. And many npower volunteers are married with children with many siblings and relatives to carter for and therefore depend so much on the monthly stipends of 30,000 for their survival. The beneficiaries have been crying without any one to console them. It was also reported that a beneficiary from Ibadan committed suicide on hearing the news last week. The NASS noted that many will still commit suicide considering the economic challenges coused by COVID 19 pandemic. The law makers stated that this is not the right time to disengage any worker. The law makers stated that it will not tell good about APC led FGN. Off loading more than 500,000 young Nigerians into unknown world poses great danger to the nation especially at this point that unemployment in the country is so higher. Law makers are of the opinion that there is no point asking the existing ones to leave instead the government should forget about batch C and maintain the existing ones.

OPEN LETTER TO THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY : DISENGAGING NPOWER BENEFICIARIES WILL NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE OF UNEMPLOYMENT IN THE COUNTRY .GIVE THEM PERMANENCY IN BATCHES . moneke Leonard . I have written considerably within my very own conscience on this piece,a judgement from the policy of what should be and how it oath to be in fairness and equity for the justice towards these frustrated Npower beneficiaries . In 2013 during the 7th Assembly if I am not mistaken , That should approximately be during the former president Jonathan Obele's adminstration when to there was a casualty which hit hard on human conscience as a result of mass stampeding during the Nigeria Immigration service Examination excercise Nationwide which took the lives of many innocent Nigeria youths be. That very day I begin to respect the Nigeria government as a government of human Administrative conscience, haven called on the relatives of the victims as they were given a replacement slots and affected families were compasated as well . That single act was not achieved by just the president then ,but was a collective effort of that Administration . During the late former president Yar-Adua ,a committee was set up on the fight towards ending insurgence and militancy in Niger Delta precisely .on a good number of time chiefs ,youths and grassroot leaders were all consulted to borrow ideas on solving the issue of insecurity and that achievement was very fast in realising it's goals through sincere dedication and commitment by both the presidency and the members of the National Assembly which was what lead to what we now have in the country as the National Amnesty program which has been so far successful in terms of realising it's aims and purpose in the country and that was an act and an excellent idea of some political technocrats in the National Assembly who deemed it right as a means to end militancy and kidnapping . This Amnesty program and initiative took many militant abroad for studies and training and that cost the Government so much yet they never complained. The program cost the government billions of Naira to train these militant group abroad and today program or perhaps should I say initiative is progressing as we are still using it on today's Boko Haram repentants. The Nigeria civil defence corps ,NDLEA ,NAFDAC ,EFCC,NDDC etc all gained approval by past Administrations just for job creation in order to end unemployment in the country. Infact let me say every Ministry,Agencies and bodies are the creation of one administration or the other in the past which was created to tackle one problem or the other but it's being enjoyed by everyone in the country. If we keep rejecting bills that will ordinarily solve Nigeria problem then we are just nothing but the makers of these rising problems . The previous administration also mapped out plans to eradicate poverty and reduce the high level of unemployment in the Nation ,through it's own style of youth empowerment program known as SURE-P. The said sure-p did not see the light of the day to realise it's objective as it was immediately beaten down and scabbed by the new leadership, since it was considered a consuming hippopotamus and a waste of Nations resources. This led to a new born program , conceived and perceived to be a world class Job reduction program (JRP) adpoted by the 8th Assembly in the fight against unemployment in the country and was tagged N-POWER. this leadership gained its first phases of praises from these program withing the globe as how the Nigeria Government successful employed 500.000 Nigeria from the street that Nigeria's unemployment level became much more relaxed . At first the program came to Nigerians with bigger hope for these innocent Unemployed youths, as many homes were brought out of poverty in a mass number as it gained international Administrative appraisal. Even though the pay was less but at least it was able to keep ones mind out of crime and can enable one to pay his bills so with that the issue of unemployment was half solved . Just like Corona we are in the fight on eradicating poverty and empowering youths through a life changing means which is one of Nigeria problem . If we put interest on ending corruption, poverty and unemployment the way we are putting on the fight to end covid19 I believe we will be better than the way we are today . Fine these youths were initially told the job duration was a just 2 years contract which made many applied hoping before then they will have something better doing . In a time when these innocent youths have made up their minds to leave in 2018 which marks the end of the program ,there was promise which came to them through the Country's adviser on social media (Mr Afolabi ) According to Mr Afolabi in a statement and I quote "your permanency is in your hand as you vote wisely ". This brought a new hope to this beneficiaries as they dumped other opportunities to grab a government job as promised by the APC led Administration. The subsequent year wasn't a blanked one too as almost all Nation's popular Newspapers carried it as headlines that Npowers beneficiaries were to be transited into a new National community police and this again made so many beneficiaries lost interest on other jobs ,hoping to the Government will keep their part of the promises made during the campaign. Why I my bringing up this topics ? I am deeply dissapointed haven read through National papers that the Federal Government disengages 2016 and 2017 beneficiaries whom has contributed so much on our education and health sector into a mere enterprenuers scheme . I mean I know there are still good leaders our there ,some of you were a one time Governor so you know better . The former Rivers State Governor, now a minister for Transport once employed massively in Rivers State and today his name is round the walls ringing bell. If the former president Jonathan's led Administration didn't do anything I won't be mentioning his name at all. This is about National building and Economy so I want you all as the leaders we have to consider the plight of these youths . I want the National Assemble to know that if these youths are sent back ,then they have been denied a better future after graduation as many of these youths have grown beyond employability age in the civil service commission. How can we boldly say we have reduced unemployment when we have just offloaded 500.000 youths in selection of another 500.000 youths which will be given same dumping treatment in a short-term? I mean it's a simple mathematics.we have only successfully destroyed lives of some 500.000 innocent Nigeria youths the moment we send them back to the street, therefore adding more to our problems . Most of these youths became dependants to their #30.000 stipends and now have families and homes they take care of. I am appealing with the National Assembly to intervene on this issue as to demonstrate their representative status for their respective constituencies . As the people representatives that you are,I urge you all to defend these youths into permanency . Let us solve a problem before creating another .engaging a new set of youths without gainfully engaging the 2016 and 2017 is just like another NYSC program and a total waste of funds. We need your help .

*THE 36 STATES AND FCT N-POWER REPRESENTATIVES' FORUM DEMANDS EXPLANATION FROM THE MINISTRY OF HUMANITARIAN AFFAIRS, DISASTER MANAGEMENT AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT* Considering the tension that is already in the air as a result of Batch A and B N-Power Volunteers disengagement in this month of June and July, 2020 respectively, the 36 States and FCT N-Power Representatives' Forum demands that the so called transition of Batch A and B to government entrepreneurship program be completely spelt out and very explicit. If the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs think she can deceive 500,000 Nigerian Youth who fought so dearly for the current administration to come into power again last year by throwing them into the labour market at this crucial time of pandemic, it is the greatest joke of the century. The 36 States and FCT N-Power Representatives' Forum demands the following within 3 working days, otherwise there will be a nationwide protest because we are also Nigerians: 1. Explain in clear terms about the transitioning of Beneficiaries into Government entrepreneurship schemes. 2. Assured the 500,000 beneficiaries of mode of payment in this newly introduced transition scheme. 3. When exactly are you going to pay over 80,000 Volunteers that are owed March, April and May stipends? 4. The entire 300,000 Volunteers of Batch B and some Batch A have not been given the promised device, when are they going to get it? 5. When are you going to pay the backlogs of some Batch A and B Volunteers stipend? Nothing short of the above will settle the Beneficiaries at the moment, and we won't hesitate to notify our benefactor President Muhammadu BUHARI, who is the initiator of this program. Note: We're not against new beneficiaries coming on board, but exiting us just like that as against the previous intention that we won't go back to the street is the highest form of corruption. Federal Government of Nigeria should stop taking the unemployed Youth in Nigeria for granted and should stop raping us because we can't breathe Best Regards! *[Nat. Media Team]* *For: 36 States and FCT N-Power* *Representatives' Forum**
