1025: wenger will not talk today because the useless ref denied norwich at least two penalties and two red cards and it is a shame that some football pundits are saying officiating in nigeria league is far much better than that of epl. wenger can't buy quality players even if he is roman of chelsea. arsenal fans are celebrating podoski who is coming from koln, a relegated club in germany. is he that good and no club in germany showed interest? He played for Bayern Munich, the biggest club in Germany. That speaks volume about his quality |

bumdish: While I appreciate your input I would beg that we do not make categorically statements on specifics we are not privy to.
If you are taking about statement of result from unilag, then you are taking about a document listing all the courses you offered Semester by semester. The grade scored per course is also listed against each course. Your gpa and cgpa is also calculated by semester per session. The document also contains the description of the the score range each grade represents. Also, you will get 4 sheets for a 4 year program and 5 sheets for a 5 year course; each sheets showing your courses/grades per session and the last sheets shows your final grade and graduating class. Each sheets would also be stamped and sign by the schools authority.
There is always more always more than one way to enter the market. Just choose the best route that gives your soul some peace. So transcripts and 'statement of result' from unilag contain nearly the same information. I speak from my knowledge, and a student of unilag should know what information in contained on the school's 'statement of result'. I maintain that if CIC says transcripts, send transcripts. |

The questionnaire is to be filled in handwriting. No electronic device like 'typewriter'. Submitting with VAC doesn't equate to use of a representative. VAC is not a agent/representative |

gini: Thanks Bumdish. The CIC website says Transcripts, I hope they wont mind the statement of result.
What's the statement of result like? Does it list all courses taken with Grades? Transcript lists all courses takken with points and the calculation of the CGPA. I just want to know the diffference between the statement of result and the transcript.
Which school will you be attending in Canada? What course and what is your start date? Good luck with ur Visa application. I'll like to be informed on your process as am yet to apply myself. Am waiting for the original hardcopy offer of acceptance and admission letter from my school. My start date is September 5th. In the meantime, am arranging my supporting documents. U answered yourself. The CIC site says transcripts. The statement of results only gives information about the course you studied and the class u finished with (2.1 or 1st class grade. It doesn't even tell your overall CGPA). Though it is logical that the embassy can mak e do with you statement of results, but you used your transcripts to apply to the school and the CIC site explicitly says transcripts. So why take a risk of having your application delayed about something you were instructed about cl early |

gini: Ok. Thanks a lot. I may not be able to use your method because my school uses different courier companies who send their staff for pick up. But then you've really helped me a great deal as now I know that the Visa office doesn't mind a transcript that is not in a sealed envelope so I'll apply and let them send to a company where a friend works then I'll pick up from the friend and add it to my application package. Chikena!
So it also means that even the sponsor's bank statement has to be open ie no document should be in a sealed envelope.
Thanks again. You are welcome. But I should also let you know that like it is done in my alma mater, the school will specifically print the name of the institution that you asked them to send your transcripts to on your transcripts. In other words, if you asked that your transcripts be sent to XYZ consultants, XYZ consultants will be printed on the transcript. So except you are sure your school doesn't do the same thing in printing transcripts (which i doubt), or you are OK with sending transcripts initially printed for a different institution to the CDHC (which is stupid), u should reconsider. concerning the part in bold, my alma mater also uses different couriers who send their staff too. I explained to the staff for the courier I had selected to send my transcripts to CHDC, and he gave me the transcripts (not without a promise of secrecy from me and some tip) |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada-part2 by dipo1: 4:42pm On Apr 28, 2012 |
@gini My school also operates this system of not giving the transcripts to students but posting it to the institution. Usually, students wait till the transcripts is ready to be posted then include all other application documents (application form and all other supporting documents) in the envelope that contains †нє transcripts. This is more or less modus operandi, but this is what i did in my case. I collected my transcripts myself by arranging with the postman. I tipped him and persuaded him to hand over the transcripts to me. Having collected it, i put together all my other documents along with it and went to submit at VAC Ikeja. When I got to VAC and they saw the transcripts in an envelope, they asked me to open the envelope cos the CHDC won't open any envelope that is sealed. So i opened the envelope that UNAAB had put my transcripts, made copies (for myself ) and submitted. |

You cant change like that, you will have to resume at humber college, after 6 month that is when you will be able to change school,am not even clear about that you will have to get that info from the school about the change. What course are you going for Wireless Telecommunications |

If you come to canada through student visa, after completing your studies you will have to apply for one year post graduate visa where you will be working to gain work experience in canada, after that you will be qualified For PR, Humber College is one the leading colleges here in Toronto with the certificate and a canadian PR you can travel to Hong kong to check out opportunities. You can as well marry a canadian and get your PR that is another option of getting PR.So weigh your options well. Thanks bashtee. By the way, I'm having a little dilemma. My long term intention is to settle in CA and if i cant, at least return to naija with an MSc. My CA admission is to Humber Collegge and tuition is about =N=2M (PGD program). Meanwhile, i have an application for a MSc in Hongkong (Yes, chinko ) in consideration and the fact that its a MSc. is what attracts me (the tuition is just over a =N=1M and the school has top world ranking). Moreover, there are more opportunities in my chosen area of telecoms in Hongkong than in Canada from what I see. If I am convinced that I can find my way around settling in canada after completing my Humber college study, i will be fine with Canada, but if i dont get the permanent residence and have to return to niaja without a MSc, I will cry blood Kindly drop your thoughts |

Yield: I'm not sure who you're advicing, mercylicious. I think your post was meant for someone else? And I'm not sure what "3rd class" means because we don't use those terms here.
But since you quoted me, I will reply, as this could help someone...
I simply replied to dipo (with regards to xtus's post) that post-grad studies do not have to be in the same undegrad and that was a general statement, because there're exceptions. I guess I should've been more thorough with that comment, because there're many factors that go into it: the University you're applying to, if you have taken classes in that post-grad course - while in undergrad, and most importantly the undergrad course you did + the post-grad program you're applying to itself. For grad programs in the Sciences, Engineering and many health-related fields (if not all), your undergrad should ( I'm tempted to say "must" ) be in the same course because these're distinctive fields that prepare you for careers in those fields alone and you need to have the adequate knowledge to practice. For ex, someone who wants to get a MSc. in Chemistry should do their undergrad in Chemstry.
With specific courses like those in the Sciences: (Bio, Chem, Physics, Pharmacy), Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Architecture, etc, it's crucial to have done one's undergrad in that same field. This's how it is for my school and I think I know enough about schools here to say it's like that for others as well. Some schools may differ, in that they may accept a student if he/she has taken some courses in undergrad that relates to that grad program and in a case like this, they will be very clear (in their admission requirements) and will list the name of the courses you must've also taken - before you can be considered. But really, here, a lot of schools are very strict in terms of accepting students who've done a different undergrad program than the grad program they're applying to, especially if they're the programs I mentioned above, and a couple more others not listed. It also depends on what deparment your going from. I.E, it's much easier to go from the Sciences to the Arts than it is to go from the Arts to the Sciences, especially with grad programs. So if someone's undergrad is in a Liberal Arts field like "Music" and they want and MSc in Biology, it's going to be impossible to get in - without having any solid background in Biology. But if your undergrad is in Bio and you want an MA in Music, most likely all you've to do's take some undergrad courses in Music (or the courses they list as part of their admission requirements), as well as meet their other admission requirments, of course. Although grades are the foundation of being admitted into grad programs, schools're looking for a well-rounded person; extra-curriculars, contributions in the community, references (these're important), how thorough and well-done the application is - all play a role in whether someone gets in or not.
Your friend who didn't get admitted into University of Manitoba, what was his/her undergrad in? For Public Health, the Undergrad just has to be in a "health-related field," not necessarily in Public Health, so that means someone with an undergrad in any of the Sciences could get in. This's how it is for my Uni. For University of Manitoba, they're open to undergrads in any disciplie, including those in the Arts. Even those with "three-year" general degrees may be considered, in some instances. They're actually more lenient than my School, so I'm wondering how true it is that your friend didn't get in because his previous course wasn't related to his intended course, as you said. Their application is no joke though, perhaps something went wrong with that or his/her grades weren't on par? My point is, there must be more to him not being accepted than "previous course not related to intended course" as you stated. Well said. |

xtus: bro dipo i did physics with electronics technology during my undergraduate degree. Wht do u think of new brunswick community college Paschals's case shows you can get a visa even if your intended course of study differs considerably with what you studied, but more often people want to study more on something they have learnt something about before. What is your career target? I think you should choose a course you have genuine interest in, a course you can express your reason for choosing in the space provided in the questionnaire |
