Hello Guys,

I am abit confused I hv this 20m that has been sitting in my mutual funds for a while now, not really impressed with the crapy interest rate giving by stanbic money market, also considering the crazy inflation in the country and that crazy dollar rate, i dont knw what to use the money to invest in. The initial plan was to get a piece of land, but this has been very challenging in lagos. Either the land I like are not with no verifiable papers or they are way beyond what I can afford. 20m cant get someone a plot of land in lagos, it either they take you to Mowe or Sango. This has been the situation running for almost a year now and I just got feed up. I am abit confused or what investment i can use the money for? Any ideas to the investors in the house. why am really interested in investing was someone recommended shares, which i invested 1m to test the waters i was able to make 72% gain in less than 6months. But shares can be risky.

This is not correct, a house should be an asset rather than a laibility.

infact many mind, unfortunately they have been boxed to a corner, an example is my sister, she could not go through the hassle of omo onile,,land verification etc which can be tedious. so she opted for estate. This is the case for many people. she however did not expect the estate will appoint themselves as sole administrator of the property. These estate already made their profit from the origin house sale, why then continue to milk people dry. Also many of these estate are usually supported with funding by government through the banks to make houses available and affordable to people.
Even in some cases, these estate tell you the lands have cofo if you investigate properly at alausa you will discover this is false.

I think the real estate market needs to be properly legislated and regulated. The government need to also check the activities of these estate companies.

There are still people who chose to buy lands from Omo Onile, despite their troubles, cos they know they want 100% independence. On the flip side, others don't mind paying to live a more sheltered life. C'est la vie!

This is an issue that has been on my mind for a while now, and i want to share tonight, service estate.

I have realized many of the Lagos developers are scams, firstly they prices of houses being sold are over inflated, while i give it to them that the quality of finishing for most of the houses on the island are nice, the prices for many of them are outrageous.

However what is most annoying is the new scam, where even after buying the said property for ten of millions the developer will make themselves the appointed estate managers for the said facilities. They begin to charge services charges of almost 500k per annum. My sister lives in one of these so called estate and i can tell you it a scam. They collect all form of monies in the name of service charges. How can i be paying 500k for maintenance fees, is that not almost another house rent in disguise. After paying 40m to buy the house. When you look into the breakdown, you begin to see things like salary for facilities managers, gardeners, generator maintenance etc They tell you, you cant use generator in the estate the estate has a central gen which you pay for maintenance monthly. You can not drill your borehole. Same goes to electricity and water. You cant buy unit from phcn directly but from the estate who sell at a higher rate. Please dont get me wrong for many of these estate they looked well maintained with the flowers trimed but the cost is just too much and are always subjected to upward review.

This is a departure from the past where an estate company develops an estate, puts in the required infrastructure and then compel you to pay the infrastructure fee at time of purchase usually 1m-3m. After paying for your apartment. Then those within the estate can form an association and then the association is responsible for the maintenance and up keep of the estate. Funds these way are properly monitored and accounted for.

Those who own houses within estate need to wake up and fight against this new scam. When you sell something to me, i should own it 100%.You dont tell me how to live or use my house.

I have been on the long quest for a land search, my budget between 15-20m, I dont mind half plot but the property should be in an area easily accessible to the island like Gbagada, Yaba, Ogudu, Ajao, surulere. I have seen a couple of half plot but to my surprise these lands dont have any verifiable document. All the agents keep telling me is the land have family receipt and survey plan many dont even have deed of assignment letter of allocation.
This i find surprising as am not sure I will be able to verify ownership at with alausa with the above.

The ones having CofO or Governors consent to my surprise are beyond what I can afford 35m. To the agents in the house, can you share your experience as this is all my saving, I dont want to fall victim to scam. Are lands with receipt verifiable or omoonile

Guys I have been looking for a land for so long, its being challenging either the land is beyond my budget or incomplete paper. So I have seen this land of 250sqm. Am wondering what I can build on it. To the architects in the house any advise. The land starts with a complete


So the land is half plot from the front,(width) but the length is not straight, the land is seems to be like a Vshape in length.

Am not sure how to explain it, seems the be okay front the front but as you go in the keeps getting slimmer and slimmer .

Cs costs as much as 250k. Its less stressful and painless and the woman doesn't face the risk of complications from natural childbirth but quite expensive.

marieolae: to be honest this school is a private secondary school. The students that attend this school can never be exposed to life. School life is not all about books,book,books. There are other aspects to it. This university is just on a whole new stupid level. Really and truly they need to change their dibolical system.

Totally disagree , even though I too dont agree with their regimented approach of schooling which sucks, however I think the word "diabolica" seems strong.

And also not true the university is just one aspect that shapes ones life, the secondary sch, NYSC and working environment are factors and family.

this one was akward though not embarrasing, Then i recently finished serving and got a Job with a bank, but u know na the average Naija man not satisfied so i kept applying till I was shortlisted for this interview with an oil and gas company. I lied to my boss I was ill and went for the interview. While waiting for my turn I decided to use the toilet which required entering a lift. While in the Lift it stopped at the 2nd floor and guess who pops in my boss and anoda senior colleague. Immediately I saw them i turned around and bent down like I had dropped something. I only raised my head up and turn around after the lift got empty. The thing was strange some people were just wondering what happening to this guy. Next day I just frowned my face, tied badage all over. My boss never asked abt anything, I too didnt say I word. Till today I cant tell if he saw me.

i dont really comment much, but this thread is way funny so let me share one of my many embarrassing moment. I come from this family where education is cherished, so my proactive parent wanted me to write the GCE in SS2, for the experience. Even though my sch do not allow. So I submitted a sick leave report. Sat for the exam, fast forward to main moment, heard the GCE result was out. So i went to the cybercafe to check, and it was those days computer was still new. I didnt even know hw to use one so I called the cybercafe guy to help me open the waec site and punch in the scratch card. After doing this na so the result commot. English E8, maths F9, chemistry F9, physics F9 biology F9 economics b3. agric E8, Geography F9. I was so ashamed, immediately the result came out the cybercafe guy was asking "bros na your result be this" It was like the ground should open and I should enter. As he was asking I just pretended like i didnt hear him, gave him 500 and pretended I needed to go urinate. I took the back door and escaped. I didnt even bother to collect my change sef. Just went home and slept. Till date I still they post my parent on the result.

Bro tell her right now! like right now! you guys should way closer than that by now. dont just tell her, tell her hw she can fix the problem. from experience with people 2 major things cause mouth odour.

1. Not brushing your tongue, when brushing her mouth.

Solution brush your tongue and clear the white stuff that lie on the tongue

2. she closes her mouth alot, so whenever you talk a bad breath comes out.

solution: let her use her mouth to breath, since she talks alot this may likely not be the issue. she could also use mouth freshener and peppermint to ease the odour.

If this two dont work then its serious and she should visit the dentist ASAP. no body wants to kiss a babe whose mouth is stinking.
