Your analysis is biased. Indirect primaries can easily be bought because it's just a few selected people voting. If Obi is sincere and democratic in nature he can opt for direct primaries where all obidients who are registered with the party are eligible to vote. If Obi is serious let him ask for direct primaries so all his army of supporters will have a voice. Of he cannot opt for that then he's not as sincere as people think he is. There's a way to do a primaries that cannot be bought. Zoning sef has never been a democratic thing. Nigeria is not the only country with multiple ethnicity and religion but na we dey form turn by turn democratic system which has never favoured us.
